Hi all, this is such a lovely calming thread. It's a lovely day here in Kent, sunny but chilly. Both DH and I are WFH now and discussing when we need to get some shopping - probably tomorrow or the weekend. Good to know that the shops are calming down. I think we need the elusive loo rolls! My boss is walking to her radiotherapy appointments and she texted me to say it's so quiet in London - she had M & S to herself and Boots had sanitizer!

Like a previous poster I have been stunned by the vicious and vile posts on some of the other threads. How do these people live IRL?

Siameasy · 26/03/2020 14:12

Hi we are in Kent too Minesa it’s bright but bloody windy.
I’ve dipped into other threads but they are energy-zapping. People trying to be positive being shot down by competitive “let’s all eat worms” mentality
DD made a mud pie and somehow I ended up eating some of it 🤔

The first article on that telegraph link ties in with the Nobel prize winner theory that the peaks are going away on their own ... also I am hoping it's true because me,DH and DD all had a nasty cold in February. I had a breathless feeling for quite a few days which I've never had before. DH developed a bad chest infection then recovered. DD has a low level fever and was off school a few days which is unusual for her.

Pinkarsedfly · 26/03/2020 14:49

This thread is a lifeline. I’m currently self-isolating with flu symptoms. 99% sure it’s not CV, but erring on the side of caution.

I have my guitar, my knitting, a kettle and peppermint teabags, tons of books, telly...but I’m getting cabin fever. I’m desperate to get out for a walk and see my dogs!

I’m enjoying watching the family opposite play football in the sun though. They’re having a lovely time Smile

Noooblerooble · 26/03/2020 14:55

Hello all. Just dropping in with a wave. I've been having a sit in the garden this a.m. and a very leisurely afternoon nap. I've got a little work done too but it's not easy motivating myself while the sun is shining.

I am using this time to plan all sorts foe my future. Suddenly I feel I know what is important to me. I'm dreaming of a move to a new city and everything

Hang on in there. Things are going to be so different in a few weeks. The worst will be behind us.

tobee · 26/03/2020 15:12

Been outside in just a short sleeve t shirt and jeans for the first time this year today (south west London).

My household 14 day isolating uni student ds is dreaming of being tested with the antibody test, finding he's had it, and being able to run free in the streets!! GrinGrinGrin ... and then helping other people out!

Love that, think we only have screw top though!
DD just gatecrashed our zoom afternoon team talk, dressed as Mr Tickle Grin

tobee · 26/03/2020 16:03

Lol! @Millie2013

Which reminds me, ds just sent me a link to the famous kid interrupting tv interviewee video that went viral who have been interviewed again with regards difficulty of wfh.

I have just read that Dyson are making 15,000 ventilators! Which is a bit of good news.

Although I feel very guilty now for changing to a Shark a few months back Blush

GypsyWanderer · 26/03/2020 16:21

Sorry that’s 10,000 for us and a further 5,000 they are donating to other countries.

Alsohuman · 26/03/2020 16:32

Just been for a lovely hour long dog walk in the sun and had a long phone call with a friend this morning. We’re in total agreement that the little things mean so much now - and we’re going to carpe the fuck out of the diem when this is over!

Spudlet · 26/03/2020 16:48

Just back from a dog walk in the sun. Saw one person and did a u-turn and divert to avoid them but apart from that there wasn’t a soul to be seen.

Next week I’m supposed to be running every day to raise money for the National Autistic Society. I was a bit concerned about it but I came up with a plan A and B. I’m meant to be doing 1k on day one, 2 on day two and so on up to 7 by the end of the week. I had planned to incorporate the parkrun and go to the woods and things, but now my plan A is to do days 1 - 3 in my garden (I’ve worked out the number of laps required) then do my little 3.5k loop from the house and top up with as many more laps of the garden as needed to make the distance. Plan b is to do the whole lot around the garden 😬

I really hope to do plan a...! Not how I’d imagined it but on the plus side, I should be able to avoid needed to pop behind a bush for a wee 👍

Is anyone interested in asking Mumsnet HQ to duplicate these threads in coronavirus and non coronavirus boards so it can still be found easily but we can hide the whole other coronavirus boards for ease of use???

DogsAreTheShizz · 26/03/2020 16:57

Joining this thread as I've been reading for days and have decided that I love you all!!! :)

That story of the son playing guitar in the garden and the card being shown through the window just made me teary smile and recently it's been more teary teary then teary smile!

My positive is that I went into work today (essential service but not healthcare) and I felt safe, people are being really sensible and keeping distance. It occupied my mind as well. That and my big dope of a husband announced last night that he's gona and bought Disney plus to keep us occupied (30s and no kids!). That and I'm sitting at the computer, patio doors open admiring my daffodils wondering whether to put in a vase or leave them to bloom in situ!

I've completely stopped reading the news and other forums, just catching the headlines. I love hearing everyone's dinner plans as I'm a big foodie and it's just nice to find a forum of like-minded people :)

maudesid · 26/03/2020 17:18

Hi all,
This thread is a total lifeline, I haven't posted much but always reading!
I work in childcare and emotions have been high the last few weeks, so much uncertainty, financial fears as well as great sadness in not seeing a lot of the children for a while. However the sun has shone and I've been outside all day everyday with our key worker children which is wonderful.
Have also made packs for our little ones stuck at home, I absolutely love my job and cannot wait to see them again!

Bunnyflop · 26/03/2020 17:19

Hi @dogsaretheshizz! What’s for dinner in your house? We are having duck spring rolls with veg in black bean sauce and rice.

tobee · 26/03/2020 17:21

I've made an extremely important decision. I'm going to have to get dd to make some cookies. 🍪 For the good of the family mental health. And some extra dough to freeze.

Bunnyflop · 26/03/2020 17:22

That’s so lovely @maudesid

riotlady · 26/03/2020 17:47

Hi all :) I’ve been getting really stressed and tearful lately (big uni problems) but this thread is like a balm for the soul!

Bf and I have been clearing out our tiny little back yard to make its age for playing in (lots of left over building waste) and today we took DD out in it for the first time! We all played football and raced around with her dolls pram.

It’s her 2nd bday tomorrow so am going to try and get sprinkles at the shops so she can make and decorate bday cupcakes!

A real life together, what a lovely idea. Let's hold on to that thought (even if it never happens Grin) but, despite considering myself mentally robust, I absolutely couldn't get through this without you all ❤(Smile in case the heart doesn't work!)

Helpful Kittens had their first foray into the garden today - they went about ten yards!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 26/03/2020 18:21

I made a cheating curry today, using Schwartz curry powder instead of spices ground and mixed, and put it into the slow-cooker then went out for a walk in the sunshine.

I'm in three different "at risk" categories, but not getting exercise is also going to be very bad for me, and I really don't think that walking in a wood where there is nobody else at all puts me at risk of anything except perhaps dying of starvation if I fell and broke my leg, which seems really, really unlikely; and anyway I had my phone with me. And sorry and all that to any doomsayers, but I see no reason for my reliable and recently-serviced car to break down, nor is it likely that I would have an accident -- I met ooh, at least three cars on my way to the wood, but it is too far for me to walk to as well as up a hill I can't manage.

I am being quietly happy that it is still light at six-thirty now, and the clocks change next weekend.

Noooblerooble · 26/03/2020 19:16

I agree. I think it's a different story if you're heading somewhere where there are others and everyone needs a turn accessing a park or something but if you're somewhere where you won't see anyone then you can't catch or pass on the virus. Mental health does matter. I am appalled by some people on MN yelling that it doesn't and that if you step into a deserted field you're killing people Confused

I have plans to make a cake soon. I just have to decide which type.
