Hello @givemeacall ! That sounds very rough being in a flat with two little ones and no open space nearby. I take it you’re in a city area? Did you know about the joe wicks PE classes on youtube? Might be worth trying to get their energy out by trying that? And throw the windows open for some fresh air?

Arcadia · 25/03/2020 17:14

I hate to say it but I feel our government has handled it well too, in the way they introduced the new measures fairly quickly but in stages to avoid panic/rioting and we've all somehow got used to it as we've gone along and are more or less complying and understanding. If they'd done it too soon it wouldn't have been taken seriously enough.
I think Boris is an arse but he has enough children not to want to destroy the country! Plus he wants to make his mark and this is his chance.
I'm usually a bit non-conformist but not at the moment!!

Keep posting any good news for those of us too scared to venture onto news sites!

Bunnyflop · 25/03/2020 17:32

Thinking of you @givemeacall Flowers

Bunnyflop · 25/03/2020 17:33

What is everyone having for dinner?

I just had arrabiata fusilli with a fucking truckload of cheese on top.

Arcadia · 25/03/2020 17:36

Sausage and lentil casserole that my DP made earlier in the week with new potatoes from our allotment!

CaveMum · 25/03/2020 17:41

Dinner tonight is Fajitas for DH and I, the kids have just eaten Spag Bol from the big batch I made on Monday.

I think there might be a tub of chocolate ice cream buried in the freezer for later too....

Mrsorganmorgan · 25/03/2020 17:53

Corned beef pie. ( or Cow Pie as my family call it) will feed a family of 4 or 2 people for 2 days.
4 medium sized potatoes
1 or 2 onions chopped
1 tin corned beef cubed
1.1/2 dessertspoon plain flour
1.1/4 pints water
Salt and pepper to taste
1 roll frozen shortcrust pastry
Slice potatoes thinly (I use a mandolin)
Layer potatoes, onions, corned beef (I use three layers)
Mix flour, water, salt and pepper and pour over layered stuff ( I use a whisk)
Cover with foil and cook for 1 hour on gas mark 180 fan
Take out of oven, check it is cooked and leave for 5 mins to cool
Cover with pastry, trim bits off and score in a star shape
Cook for 30 minutes on gas mark 180 fan ( for pastry to cook)
Serve with vegetables.
This can be reheated next day

Hello everyone! Glad to check in with you all.

The antibody test is brilliant news. If we can test who has had it those people can go back to normal life and it looks like the majority of them will be immune. It will really help life to feel more normal. I have never been more grateful for scientists. As we move away from the peak too, others will be allowed to mix more even if they haven't had it if they know they're low risk partly because we will know we're mixing with x number of immune people and partly because the NHS won't then be at breaking point and the system can cope with the smaller numbers who catch it and end up needing intervention as and when that happens (the rare fit and young people who deteriorate unexpectedly I mean). So I, as someone who hasn't had it and who is young(ish) and healthy, could work in my office with my 2 colleagues who've had it and one that hasn't, say, safe in the knowledge I'm unlikely to get it and the impact will be minimal if I do get it. It really is a very very positive piece of news.

I had a lovely day. I stayed away from all bad news (although i am thinking of people working in hospitals so much right now). I kept myself busy. I had a phone chat with an isolated 90 year old locally and he was so grateful to chat. And I had a lovely run and barely saw a soul. Things are really greening up.

We can do this. Day at a time and it is going to be ok.

I also found reading this if anyone is feeling scared of catching the virus. It has sensible advice on how to really minimise risks medium.com/@amcarter/i-had-no-immune-system-for-months-after-my-bone-marrow-transplant-1b097f16040c

Tea tonight... cornish pasties from out the freezer and from a butcher who makes pasties that are heaven. Beans and chips. Yum

gingerbreadslice · 25/03/2020 18:19

@givemeacall Hey I'm in a flat too it sucks doesn't it! I loved it when I first moved in, three kids later it's like a prison... hopefully we will be moving soon if we can agree where to move to but I doubt it will be for now. Gin

Spag Bol tonight with loads of cheese. Lovely. Long, long walk in the sunshine with our girl, she ran and ran. Little things mean so much now.

Millie2013 · 25/03/2020 19:05

We had fried eggs (after the egg incident a couple of days back when I ended up ordering a whole tray from the farmer) and homemade chips for dinner. OH had bacon too. Simple things
Clean bedding tonight for me and my mini bed bug, OH (Hospital IT) is sleeping in the spare room at the mo. I’m going to have a hot shower soon and get into clean PJs

RobinHobb · 25/03/2020 19:10

A bit slow
But this antibody test will detect if you've had it? But not if you currently had it? Is that right?

This is some brilliant news.

I worry about some really dim people I've seen posting on other threads saying they had a cough and fever for a few days so they must have had it and are swanning around - but colds and flus and other bugs are still around and it could have been one of those! This will help with that for sure and for nhs workers

CaveMum · 25/03/2020 19:18

RobinHobb yes that’s the gist - the test will detect if you have had it previously (and are therefore producing antibodies) but won’t be able to tell if you currently have it in your system.

Arcadia · 25/03/2020 19:24

I wonder if they didn't want the test too early for general public as then it would be hard to enforce social distancing/lockdown (and everyone would want immediate access to it?.? But obviously needed for key workers Including shop staff etc ASAP

Arcadia · 25/03/2020 19:25

Does anyone have link to antibody testing article as that link just took me back to the BBC live feed

ScarlettDarling · 25/03/2020 19:28

My good news is that the shops were really well stocked today. Did a full week's shop including loo roll and pasta, really pleased as it saves me having to go anywhere else.. Seems like the panic buying has finally stopped thank goodness.

CaveMum · 25/03/2020 19:29

@Arcadia they’re now downplaying how quickly it will be available (certainly not days) but this updated article explains more: www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-52035615

gingerbreadslice · 25/03/2020 19:33

@givemeacall
Ours is Council too the bedrooms are okay I'm really greatful for it but it's top floor of a block I'm like 230ft up with three of them so outside is needed. We are looking to private rent now just to have a nice garden for them to play in. I didn't want to give up the tenancy but I'm not sure what else I can do.

StCharlotte · 25/03/2020 19:34

Spudlet Skylarks are one of the (very) few things I miss about living in the country.

Plenty of positives here today.

I spent my lunch hour reading in the garden today which was lovely as our garden is a real suntrap.

DH has now been "furloughed" for three weeks. He was in a public facing role and getting a bit twitchy so I can stop worrying about him.

Managed to order some seed potatoes and other veg stuff online as DH is going to have plenty of allotment time (it's literally at the end of our garden and enclosed so the "unclean" can't get in without a key) and we hadn't got our act together before. I also snuck some sweet peas into the order.

And finally there was some movement at last on a legal case we've got going.

Have a good evening every one x
