Symptoms getting worse - anyone else?

I’ve been dry coughing for a few days now, not really felt like I have a temperature, just decided to ride it out and look after myself. This morning I have started coughing up gunk, my chest is even tighter and I get out of breath really quickly. I don’t want to be a burden on 111, and my own GP is closed. I am still ok to ride it out and look after myself aren’t I? I’m young and healthy usually and I don’t want to take up any resources for those who need it.

A few healthy people have got into difficulty, I’d say ring them to see what they say if you live alone otherwise if you have family constantly monitoring you see how you are tomorrow.

Olawisk · 30/03/2020 23:53

I hope you feel better in the morning

Olawisk · 30/03/2020 23:54

And you @TheDrsWife46

Helpmechangemymindsetplease · 30/03/2020 23:57

I hope you both feel a little better in the morning - thinking of you both 💕. I for one am up at all sorts of hours in the night as I am sure many others are, so please carry on posting if you need to.

incognitomum · 31/03/2020 00:10

UYScuti · 31/03/2020 01:07

Hello I just want to offer a hand hold and I hope you're over the worst of it soon
I really do
💙🙏
Is there anything that gives any relief at all to the symptoms?
for instance does it make a difference if the air is warm or cool etc, dry or on the damper side?
Have you tried listening to podcasts or is it too hard to concentrate?

UYScuti · 31/03/2020 01:09

I wonder if you could keep a kind of log of how you're feeling?
maybe every half an hour and make a note of any change in symptoms etc
maybe grade things on a scale of 1 to 5?
A voice note on your phone if you don't have the means or the energy we to get pen and paper

morethanmeetstheeye · 31/03/2020 03:18

Sending you both a lot of love. You sound so poorly. Xxxx

eaglejulesk · 31/03/2020 04:19

Sending you both lots of good wishes and hope you turn a corner soon and start feeling as though you are recovering. Flowers

We have both used another thread “my lungs part 4” to record our progress etc but moo hasnt been on as much.

Because people do genuinely seem interested and invested in how we are progressing I can tell you that the majority of people on the thread are cycling through a pattern of
Chills/fever/tremors/cold sweats these are unbearable and frightening.
Sorethroat/burning/heartburn/weight and pain in chest.
Shortness of breath/cough/sputem this is alternating for people casting them into “what if” and many many people have panicked between days 6-9 really not coping anymore and a fair few being assessed like moo by ambulance.

This is not something like flu that you feel you can sleep off. The sensations in your body are acute and distressing (for those of us calling for ambulances in desperation) like an invasion of your nervous system with a prickling in your skin.

Of course there are people who are all over youtube sayinb “meh i tested positive and i havent even got a cough” and there are horror stories on the news. But these are the experiences if those of us who are the severe end of “mild” having to manage at home

Inkpaperstars · 31/03/2020 04:42

Are you managing to drink enough Drs, I know I find that really hard when I am feeling congested or like I need to keep breathing through the mouth. If not maybe an ice lolly or ice cube you can let melt in the mouth? But then you're freezing. Aargh! Thinking of you x

TheDrsWife46 · 31/03/2020 05:07

Yes drinking as much as possible and for me personally eating is an issue because if the heavy pressure in my chest makes it feel like a lump in the throat and like the worst heartburn. So licking yoghurt or icecream. Hotvsweet tea and cold drinks.

SugarSugarShimmy · 31/03/2020 10:41

How are you feeling today @MooPointCowsOpinion and @TheDrsWife46

MooPointCowsOpinion · 31/03/2020 10:53

I need to whisper it... I feel slightly more human today.. still coughing and exhausted, struggling to walk move than a few steps, but the foggy feeling is lifting. Could this be the first step...!!!

Hopefully your going in the right direction Flowers

TheDrsWife46 · 31/03/2020 11:31

God @MooPointCowsOpinion i hope so. Im in a dark dark place today. I literally feel like an empty sack of biology, breathing, I genuinely just dont even feel like a person now.

I know ive asked you a trillion times but how many says are u at? Its harder to scroll back on my phone

incognitomum · 31/03/2020 11:38

Glad you're feeling more yourself moo. Hope you get there very soon drs.

Chasingmytail17 · 31/03/2020 11:43

Oh @TheDrsWife46 so sorry, really hoping this improves for you soon. Are you managing to rehydrate with electrolyte solution to help after the diarrhoea?

UYScuti · 31/03/2020 11:55

Just thought I'd share this, sorry if it's already been posted.
www.patientslikeme.com/conditions/COVID-19
'By sharing your stories and data, you will:
help each other live better and uncover the best ways to manage your health today
help researchers shorten the path to new treatments tomorrow
How much good can your data do? A whole lot, as co-founder Jamie Heywood explains in this video.
What will we do next?
With each piece of data you share, you’re helping PatientsLikeMe and our medical research partners understand:
How do people experience each condition differently, and why?
What improves health and life for different people, and why?
How can we measure that improvement faster and more effectively, and accelerate clinical trials?'

booboo24 · 31/03/2020 12:35

@MooPointCowsOpinion I'm so glad you're tentatively feeling a little better. I really feel for you and @TheDrsWife46 at the moment I hope you've both turned that corner x

Helpmechangemymindsetplease · 31/03/2020 12:40

BigChocFrenzy · 31/03/2020 12:41

mooPoint, DoctorsWife best wishes to you both 💐

So sorry you are going through this

and can't even be taken to hospital

  • they must be absolutely swamped though, to say this
BigChocFrenzy · 31/03/2020 12:42

I so hope you are both turning the corner now 💐

MooPointCowsOpinion · 31/03/2020 13:06

Day 17 @TheDrsWife46 I think, I ignored it the first few days as I was just breathless and tired, figured it was stress from running an entire department of 18 with only 5 staff!

Still coughing constantly, but feeling like maybe it’s not a trick... I do feel a little better.
