Also in news on TV last night everyone Congregating in parks and at beach.

Why?
Why us it just not sinking in wiith you all?
Please explain your logic and how you would feel if government just got sick of you not listening that they put in heavier restrictions and the army to police it simply because you couldn't manage to do it yourself?

Krong going for a walk is allowed if you're socially distancing. Exercise is actually important for good immunity. That is permitted, and probably still will be if we go into lockdown.

swishthecat · 23/03/2020 10:47

helgahelga it's because of people like you that we need an enforced lockdown.

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 23/03/2020 10:47

Natural Selection at work.

This in spades. It’s not just that people are doing stupid things, it’s that they believe their right to be stupid is more important than other people’s lives.

HelgaHelga the reproduction number of cv is 3. On average each person with the virus infects 3 people. Your “adult professional DC” are not immune. Your still-going-to-the-supermarket-DH is not immune. You are not immune.

Your lovely Mother’s Day with your adult DC will potentially cause several hundred people to contract the disease. Sadly, statistically, around 10 of those people will die.

Is it worth it?

If you were one of them, why?
supercee · 23/03/2020 10:47

Me and DH are no more likely to get coronavirus from seeing them for an hour in our HOME, than we are from going to the shops, or from DH going to work and mixing with 100s of people and then coming home.

Aaargh why aren't people understanding!

Going to the shops for things you cannot do without to survive (food, medicine) is ESSENTIAL! Your DH going to work is hopefully ESSENTIAL! You mixing with your DC wasn't ESSENTIAL.

You have now added two more people into the mix that could possibly infect you, or you could've infected them, given your DH mixes with 100's of people.

Your DC have you now left your house, possibly carrying this to infect other people.
Can you account for everyone your DC have been in contact with prior to visiting you?

I'm sorry but I have seen on this forum and other forums cries of 'be kind! No need for names!' Etc etc. YES THERE IS until the message gets through to these selfish pig headed people cunts.

Pishposhpashy · 23/03/2020 10:47

Stay AT HOME! I don't think any of you were going for a walk this time last year, why all of a sudden?? Lemmings come to mind...

I take my 4 year old for a walk every single day rain or shine usually actually, as we have no garden, nor a balcony. The govt was extremely clear that walks are fine as long as you respect social distancing.

Falangalangadingdang · 23/03/2020 10:48

It's people like helgahelga that don't understand the maths behind how risk works that's going to be our demise.

Sorry but everyone that doesn't understand this basic premise of risk shouldn't be allowed to procreate and bring 'young professionals' in to this world.

Fuck off the lot of you, I'm high risk and thanks to your stupidity I could die.

Oliversmumsarmy · 23/03/2020 10:49

I just think a lot of people weren't expecting places to be so busy this weekend, so hopefully going forward it will be better now that people are more aware

So when they arrived and saw the crowd why add to the situation.

AmelieTaylor given the latest news with someone with no underlying health conditions being in intensive care it isn’t a given they will be ok

AmelieTaylor · 23/03/2020 10:49

I’ve just had a ‘discussion’ with a friend arguing that mcDonalds, Costa etc should keep their drive through open because it’s minimal contact and people are going to supermarkets anyway and even more stupidly arguing that people will go to the supermarket more often if McDonald’s is closed. He can’t see the point.

Because it’s thousands less staff travelling around, interacting with people, thousands less children needing to be looked after by people. The supermarkets are already staffed, McDonald’s closing is going to make no difference to the supermarkets staffing levels. It’s GOOD, but hes not having it. He’s not the sharpest knife in the shed, but I love him anyway, but this is going to reallybtest our friendship.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/03/2020 10:49

Mrs Smith - 70 - divorcee - no underlying health conditions - only herself to feed - goes shopping during priority times and stocks up. Then meets Linda for coffee and Sharon for a nice walk in the park
Multiply this by 1000s and then there is nothing left for NHS workers

Interesting - and frankly rather ageist - attempt to shove it onto seniors there
Nobody denies that some are being extremely foolish, but the fracas and fighting at a large local supermarket yesterday wasn't among these folk - it was knuckle draggers of far fewer years who though they could be exceptions by virtue of sheer volume and muscle power

Curious78 · 23/03/2020 10:51

We still need to get outside to excerise/stretch legs/walk but the problem is going out as a family/groups. It's only me and my preschooler so we go out together but if I had a partner and more children, we wouldn't all pile out collectively. Think about it

supercee · 23/03/2020 10:52

It's everyone who looked out the window, saw it was sunny, thought I'll take my family out to x beach with the kids and to walk the dogs, and were surprised when they got there to find that, shock horror, many people had thought the same! Funny that.

Astrabees · 23/03/2020 10:52

I'm over 60 and I'm trying to keep out of the supermarket ( do get an "Ocado Reserved" delivery every week) and just take my dog out to quiet places. There were a lot of people out and about this weekend, in our local village, which is a bit of a beauty spot. I kept to the shady muddy path on my own and to begin with thought there were too many people in the sun on the other side of the green. It didn't look good but in the main they were family groups who presumably live together and I think the groups were keeping apart. The only negative thing I saw was that the pub and cafe doing takeaways still had their tables outside and people were sitting there eating and drinking. The government need to insist the chairs are taken away and require those eating take aways to actually take them away. A trip to the beach in March is not usually a situation where you will find anyone else at all, lets home that those who made the journey will draw a line under it now.

I'm very concerned about individuals mental health if they are totally isolated, I just wish people could be more responsible.

AmelieTaylor · 23/03/2020 10:53

@oliversmumsarmy

AmelieTaylor given the latest news with someone with no underlying health conditions being in intensive care it isn’t a given they will be ok

I know, that’s why I said LARGELY.

The80sweregreat · 23/03/2020 10:53

I'm lucky I can stay at home for many reasons. I m not one for shopping etc but I'll miss being able to just have a look round the shops.
For many they have to work and have no choice but to go out

JemSynergy · 23/03/2020 10:54

I've just found my next door neighbours builders in my garden... my kids are trying to get some air. I'm astounded. We're all socially distancing, my husband high risk, I didn't see my mum on Mother's Day but I've got a random builder in my garden. We need a lock down in this country because some people are clueless.

Falacy · 23/03/2020 10:54

Everyone over 70, everyone pregnant, anyone with asthma or diabetes. The NHS is the biggest employer in the country I think.

Exactly this.

I mean even the woman in the article was someone who worked doing breast screening.

I'm not arguing that it's not an essential job. Of course it is. But it's hardly any more essential in the fight against corona virus than our police, fire service, teachers and education workers, delivery drivers etc.

All of those people are still working and all of those people still need to shop for supplies.

How did they actually know that all the full car parks weren't just people who worked for the NHS and elderly + those with underlying health conditions? I think I personally know more people who fall into that category than I do who don't. I live 5 minutes away from a super-hospital!

zombieapocalypseisnigh · 23/03/2020 10:54

Helga doesn't feel bad, but Helga is being selfish and stupid, whether she wants to accept that or not.

People like Helga piss me off because I am rostered to look after key workers' children at schools, and if any of those parents are making it even harder for me to keep from bringing it home to my family, that's incredibly unfair. People like Helga are increasing NHS workers chances of getting it, which it turn increases my chances of getting it.

SoloD · 23/03/2020 10:55

There are not enough critical care beds and not enough equipment in the UK to treat all the people. There will be triage where some will gt treatment and some will be left to die.

I wish those who don't take this seriously would be put in the position of having to chose.

The80sweregreat · 23/03/2020 10:55

How can you seal off a beach though?
It's impossible:

VanGoghsDog · 23/03/2020 10:55

I am not apologising for seeing them for an hour on Mother's Day

Oh, that's OK then, I'll just send the virus a memo that you're excluded.

🙄 Idiotic behaviour and comment. Totally irresponsible.

VanGoghsDog · 23/03/2020 10:55

How can you seal off a beach though?
It's impossible:

I'm sure a way could be found. Bondi beach has been closed off.

The80sweregreat · 23/03/2020 10:57

I don't think anyone would like to be a doctor having to decide who dies and who doesn't. If they run out of ventilation or oxygen , it's not their fault.
Is the ' it's only the flu' brigade still around now?

Dryadia · 23/03/2020 10:57

Someone local to me mentioned turning the visitor shops at hospitals into mini supermarkets , open to staff only, supplied by all of the supermarkets.

I know it won't help non hospital staff, but it would help those most likely to be in close contact with the virus.

maa1992 · 23/03/2020 10:59

I went for a walk yesterday, fairly early so it was still quiet with the occasional runner then BAM it was like the summer holidays!!! Groups and groups of people.

Curious78 · 23/03/2020 11:00

Myself and DD aren't going to parks or beaches. I live in a flat in a village, opposite woods with the occasional walker/runner/dog walker. Pick your spots, be sensible.
