Please see link, loads flood the tescis NHS hour, ignoring the why the NHS hour exists.
Also in news on TV last night everyone Congregating in parks and at beach.

Why?
Why us it just not sinking in wiith you all?
Please explain your logic and how you would feel if government just got sick of you not listening that they put in heavier restrictions and the army to police it simply because you couldn't manage to do it yourself?

We went out for a walk in quiet countryside with our dog.

Most fit and well people below the age of 70 are making HUGE sacrifices - job losses, key workers remaining in work in difficult circumstances, schools shut, etc.

However, we have observed many over 70s over the last week who appear to be going on with life as normal. They are the ones to be called out.

I briefly considered going to a hill somewhere and walking up it. Then I thought of all the many, many people who were probably thinking exactly the same. So we didn’t. We walked a boring semi rural path from our house and saw 3 other people, all of whom moved more than 6 feet away as we passed. I realise we are lucky to have this path to walk as lots of people haven’t. They still shouldn’t be piling into cars and going where everyone else is.
We have to realise that this is like nothing else we have ever experienced and act accordingly.

Isn’t this just Darwinism. Rooting out the too stupid to survive.

I really don’t understand the supermarket situation where everyone is crowded into one store to get supplies so they can isolate themselves from getting a disease that infects when you are in close proximity.

Dp isn’t waiting for a personal letter to isolate himself he hasn’t been out for over a week and before that was only going to places where there were very few or no one around.
I have done the same and shopped when apart from staff there has been virtually no one in the store.

I have driven to a store, from my car looked in and as it looked crowded driven back without attempting to go in.

Even at home Dp has his own room with a tv and dc are sat at a distance around the living room.

I was supposed to meet a friend last week. We haven’t seen each other in over a year and we were really looking forward to it.

Both of us agreed it wasn’t worth the risk.

Atm we are able to go out and use different facilities and if we are sensible we can make the next few months bearable but if people don’t understand or are too stupid to realise the implications of their actions then a lock down is going to have to come in.

If you fancied a walk on a beach and you get there and find it is getting crowded why wouldn’t you turn round and go home. Why would you add to the crowd

I did the Nhs hour in Tesco yesterday they were definitely checking badges of each person at the door. They were even checking that the photos matched the person so that you couldn't just borrow someone else's ID. however it was still chaotic and we were all stood far too close to each other at the checkouts.

It's all or nothing isn't it? If people can't shut down 100% of the risk, eg. DH is still going to work, they can't see the point in reducing it by 25%, eg. not seeing friends. Or by 50% by also not going to the shops. It really is a very thick nation. It's utterly despairing.

Exactly. Perhaps the human race will become extinct through lack of a basic understanding of mathematics.

People complain about others in the parks and on the streets and can't see that they are part of the problem since they are there too???

But the pm and Jenny harries clearly said it is important to get outside IF you can maintain social distancing. Hence we had to return home yesterday, and hence why I think people with gardens should be using them and leaving public space for those without them.

The next few weeks are going to be hell for NHS, anyone over 60 wont stand a chance imo.

Anyone over 60 isn't being treated in Italy anymore. But those that do, still keep meeting up, going out unnecessarily, going for walks, cos it's all good, innit. #Idiots

Our newish neighbours had a party yesterday . 4 generations , bouncy castle , sitting outside , hugging etc etc . Approximately 20 people . Crazy however as they are the most thoughtless parkers in the world ( a whole other thread ) I shouldn’t have been surprised !

If you weren't able to see your children or mother yesterday, and your Mother's Day was not great, then I am sorry about that

I was perfectly able to go and see my mother, but we heeded all the advice and made the decision to call her instead to avoid passing on any germs we didn't know we had.

THIS IS THE POINT

I genuinely think people are perhaps not seeing the news or understanding the impact.
Not everyone watches the news or reads it, and so unless someone definitively tells them, then they don't get the seriousness.

That, or plain stupidity.

My adult DC live reasonably close, ie 10 min car journey, but I did not see them this weekend. Instead we had long phone calls, and long video calls.
I would not want to put their (or my) health at risk.
Although I try and tell myself we have no underlying health conditions, we could also be one of the few that a) require hospitalisation, or b) die, and missing a mother's day, is fine.

I wonder if people this weekend in the parks, etc thought that a lockdown is imminent so went out for one last hurrah before the lockdown? Like the idiots getting smashed in the pubs friday night!

I think a lot of people don’t want to know then they can kid themselves it’s not happening. It’s taken us all week to convince my PIL’s to isolate (70’s). They are very “get on with it” “were tough, us” kind of people. They think if they stay positive they’ll be fine. They didn’t want to “scare themselves” by watching the news.

Dh and I went nuclear on them and I think they finally get it.

It seems to me that people have no common sense - so if this carries on they will have to have more draconian measures which is a shame for everyone else. Like many things in life, some people ruin things for everyone

I just think a lot of people weren't expecting places to be so busy this weekend, so hopefully going forward it will be better now that people are more aware.

If the government tells people they are able to go outside then people are going to do it, especially as most probably thought they were doing the right thing rather than going to into someone's home.

This is why we need lockdown
It won't really make that much difference. There aren't enough police and armed forces to patrol every street in Britain and the selfish thick people will quickly find ways round it.

No, because largely it won’t be them dying, it’ll be more vulnerable people they pass it on to.

"I didn't go. But i can't help wondering who thought it was a good idea to put all our frontline crucial workers together in the same place at the same time anyway!"

We need to find a system to allow front line workers to be prioritised for online delivery slots. It does sound madness to encourage front line staff to mingle in crowds of people.

Natural selection in action. I have given up trying to explain to people why they need to stay at home. Hopefully when they roll up at A&E and the last ventilator has been taken it may dawn on them where they went wrong.
This virus is hyper infectious, the more contacts you have the greater the potential viral load you will receive and the more severe the disease will be this is not age dependent.
It’s your choice now. Do you want a loved one to die in hospital because there are not enough ventilators. They will be alone with palliative treatment slowly drowning in their own body fluids.
How much clearer can this be.
STAY AT HOME

Sainsburys is opening Mon-Sat 7.30 - 8am for NHS workers.

Dh had to flash his ID badge and said the manager was there personally thanking people for their service. Dh's work is to do with Covid. He said it was really quite empty this morning. He was able to get pasta, chicken, toilet roll, milk and eggs. And no we are not stockpiling.

Sainsburys are also opening for elderly, disabled and their carers Mon, Wed, Fri from 8am - 9am. So it separates NHS from most vulnerable.

Well done Sainsburys understanding that NHS workers do shifts and cannot possibly just all shop on a Sunday morning.

I've said this on here before, but some of these over 70s have mild dementia and don't understand, and forget as soon as it's been explained to them.

I wonder if people this weekend in the parks, etc thought that a lockdown is imminent so went out for one last hurrah before the lockdown

I think so. Maybe they even thought this would be the last time they did something nice before they die!

(and no, I didn't. I went out for a run and kept my distance to the few people I came across. Pity that when I came back to the car park it was full and loads of people milling around not socially distancing, but I made a quick getaway and stayed away from them).
