I think people need to stop with the jogging as well, I was out with ddog yesterday, in a small rural town, in the time we'd gone through the edge of town and up the normally very quiet woods and returned home, we had been passed by maybe 5 joggers- I lost count exactly it could have been more, all on their own admittedly.
But the thing is, they were noticeably mouth breathing, a couple were puffing and breathless so much- there must have been bordering on as much spit in the air as in they had been coughing.
Some were also running quite fast and none of them that I can remember, made much or any attempt to slow down so it was difficult, or impossible to get out of their way, so we ended up passing quite closely.
Also, in the woods you are sometimes on quite sheltered, narrow, slightly sunken paths- that re almost tunnel like- so air doesn't necessarily clear quickly, even though you're outside.
It's also a problem in town- that some of our pavements are narrow- so you have to pass closely to each other anyway unless you cross the road or go in the road- but their are still cars out so you still have to do that carefully, and joggers aren't slowing down, so you don't have time to move.
Every time I've needed to go out , there have been more and more joggers, with that air of 'I must keep going ' joggers seem to have, puffing and not slowing down.
I may be a bit biased- I was a bit sick of regularly being forced to step in to the road by our usual town jogging groups, -not to mention the time a jogger swigged from her water bottle, turned her face away from her companion and spat it out- partially into my face, as I had stepped into the gutter to avoid them .
(not recently, I'm glad to say)
When people are running it makes it much harder to pull over or move- for both parties, as well as the fact a lot of joggers are actively doing very spitty breathing. So I think they need to re-think weather even solitary jogging is ok. I think people need to just walk , honestly.
