mrshoho · 23/03/2020 20:54

So what about the thousands of construction sites that gave been carrying on as normal? Do they just down tools and stop work or are they classed as essential work? Half the people travelling around London are construction.

Horehound · 23/03/2020 20:55

@mrshoho I imagine they will only be required to make sites safe. After that it has to stop.

TheCanterburyWhales · 23/03/2020 20:55

Well, there's about 20 threads popped up with everyone saying "phew, thank goodness we can go to the park with the kids and Fido"
So I'll give it another 2-3 days before they all get padlocked and have patrols on them.

Hope you're all feeling ok about it. Flowers

CharlieTangoBanana · 23/03/2020 20:55

@MangePas I've been absolutely bombarding him since the end of January along with every cabinet minister and MP
I don't know if you've watched Jacinda Arden's address to the kiwis but it's well worth it.

itsallwrongisntit · 23/03/2020 20:55

Will my DC still be able to go to their dads EOW?

I'm thinking no because it would be mixing households ?

unique1986 · 23/03/2020 20:56

I also working manufacturing but in the office processing orders/paperwork. I have to come in I can't work from home.
My only option would be if I quit which won't happen or I get ill.
It's a small ish company. Already down few staff.

SistemaAddict · 23/03/2020 20:58

I never realised that so many people didn't understand the word essential. And still don't despite having it explained very clearly.

MarshaBradyo · 23/03/2020 20:58

He spoke well imo and good content

Horehound · 23/03/2020 20:58

@itsallwrongisntit I would verge in the side of caution and say yes that's right. They should stay at main residence.

Pebble21uk · 23/03/2020 20:59

I'm hoping this is where the Army step in to support the Police in their powers. A visible army presece might make people more willing to comply!

Horehound · 23/03/2020 20:59

Well the whole company will be closing @unique1986. Or it should be! No one will be placing orders.

IronNeonClasp · 23/03/2020 20:59

Army next. Not enough police for sure...

RedToothBrush · 23/03/2020 21:00

Our neighbour is having an extension built.

Builders in today. But I did notice that one of them wore a face mask all day.

I overheard them talking last week saying they couldn't afford to stop working as they rented.

I think that's ultimately your problem. It is essential to them.

StrawberryJam200 · 23/03/2020 21:00

Schools still open for key workers’ and vulnerable kids?? Anyone know?

StrawberryJam200 · 23/03/2020 21:03

I mean obviously those kids still need to be cared for, but there was no mention of children travelling to school?

Angryrant55 · 23/03/2020 21:06

My dad plaining to go into work tommrow - building trade but been told to only not go in if an email comes in saying no or boris personally shuts the building trade down. He didnt and no email yet.

Angryrant55 · 23/03/2020 21:07

Rachel Wearmouth - 'There were no measures to control panic buying.

People will interpret the words "essential" and "basic necessities" very, very differently.'

Aurea · 23/03/2020 21:10

I'm not very clear on the daily exercise advice.

Are you allowed to exercise once a day with more than one member of your household, e.g. parents and two children? Elsewhere he mentions groups of more than two people being dispersed.

Thanks!

unique1986 · 23/03/2020 21:10

If only my company hadn't started making hand sanitizer...

StrawberryJam200 · 23/03/2020 21:11

He said only two people unless from same household.

Angryrant55 · 23/03/2020 21:12

BNO Newsroom - 'BREAKING: Banner Health in Arizona says a man has died and his wife is seriously ill after taking chloroquine, which has not been approved to treat or prevent coronavirus.'

Skittlesss · 23/03/2020 21:13

If there’s more than just one person then they all need to be from the same house. In other words: you can’t meet your pal/family in the street and pretend you’re exercising.

Angryrant55 · 23/03/2020 21:14

My mum through is anoyed boris forgot to mention banks and post offices and it was up to mark drakford to tell us.

Namethecat · 23/03/2020 21:15

What about how you exercise ? Just walk about your street , or go in the car to the country if a mile or so away ?
