I’m confused. Dh needs to travel to get to work but his job isn’t essential in that he’s not a key worker. Should he work or stay home?

Lifesavesocialdistance · 23/03/2020 20:42

He said use '' deliveries '' we can't bloody get deliveries!

MangePasTesOnglesVilain · 23/03/2020 20:43

CTB GrinGrinsadly, it may well be a comment like that which changed things

willdoitinaminute · 23/03/2020 20:43

Namechanger did you stop listening. The police can enforce it! We are in lockdown. This is from now.

Namechangervaver · 23/03/2020 20:43

Anyone can still take a trip anywhere. What are these special powers the police have been given? It's not like we have to carry any documents or anything Confused

HairyFloppins · 23/03/2020 20:43

I bet the parks will still be packed tomorrow with people just out with their families.

Horehound · 23/03/2020 20:43

No, no @willdoitinaminute you can't be all "see I knew before you" when you wouldn't provide any proof. You're talking out your arse!

LittleRen · 23/03/2020 20:44

Yes do online retailers shut?! This is not clear. We part own an online retailer, none essential, does DH go to work? Do they shut it down? Still not clear cut.

fucknotmeplease · 23/03/2020 20:44

My MIL provides us childcare whilst me and DH work. I'm assuming this can't happen now? So confused with everything

Horehound · 23/03/2020 20:44

@Lifesavesocialdistance he said use them where you can.

Booked up? Fine. You can't!

SansaSnark · 23/03/2020 20:45

Completely expected but still feels like this has all happened very fast compared to where we were about 10 days ago.

I think that will make it more shocking to people, and some people will be very confused by what has happened still.

I do feel a bit anxious/upset/scared by everything, but I hope now that measures are in place we can get through this.

RedToothBrush · 23/03/2020 20:45

So any twat can go out and say they're shopping for essentials

Going half way up Snowdon when you live in Cheshire going 'I'm just going shopping'

Travelling from your home in London to your second home in Devon going 'I'm just going shopping'

It will make some difference.

SistemaAddict · 23/03/2020 20:48

Jesus Christ, people still don't get it after that very clear address!

@fucknotmeplease

Well what is your work. Is it absolutely essential??

IronNeonClasp · 23/03/2020 20:50

When does it come in to force - did anyone get that?

Imagine the shops tomorrow? Jesus

fucknotmeplease · 23/03/2020 20:50

@Horehound I work financial services but my role is not absolutely essential

SistemaAddict · 23/03/2020 20:50

Immediately.

queenjaneappro · 23/03/2020 20:50

I though he said immediately

nellodee · 23/03/2020 20:50

I know we've still got some rough roads to travel, but that announcement makes me feel a lot better. Finally, Johnson was clear, he spelt things out specifically, and he took the steps that needed taking. I can now say, "At least we don't have Trump" again.

Namechangervaver · 23/03/2020 20:51

I bet the parks will still be packed tomorrow with people just out with their families

And they will just be following orders. Daily exercise, innit?

Horehound · 23/03/2020 20:51

this is getting tedious now.

Use your brains people.

Is it essential?
Yes -> go to work
No -> work from home or stop working.

SansaSnark · 23/03/2020 20:52

Police have powers to disperse gatherings, though. If you see people standing still and gathering then I guess report to 101 or whoever.

I think the biggest problem is lack of police!

Horehound · 23/03/2020 20:52

@fucknotmeplease I wouldn't be going in. Work from home if you can. No need for your mum childcare. Just do what you can at home. If nothing...that's ok.

Horehound · 23/03/2020 20:53

@LittleRen to be clear :No. Shit down. No workm
