@Number12 got onto BA finally two days ago, gave them a heads up on being pregnant and they're trying to get us on today's flight. They're also laying on extra repatriation flights as Virgin cancelled all their flights already. So they're helping there as well.

Is this reassuring? I don't know. I won't sleep soundly til I'm in my tiny tiny cottage in London.

SistemaAddict · 23/03/2020 18:14

I've had this in my head all afternoon. It's one of my favourite Disney films.

I feel bad for not responding to individuals but just wanted to let everyone who is struggling or has family that are poorly that I'm sending you strength and virtual hugs.

8.30 address to the nation sounds serious.

mumoftwodc · 23/03/2020 18:17

Do you think the supermarkets will still deliver during lockdown?

Angryrant55 · 23/03/2020 18:17

Daniel Hewitt - 'The PM’s statement will interrupt normal TV schedules on ITV, BBC etc. It will be from Downing Street, I understand the statement won’t be delivered live.'

MarshaBradyo · 23/03/2020 18:17

Just listening to R4 about the alarm that sounds on your phone if someone who tested positive is nearby. Incredible!

Justyou · 23/03/2020 18:20

I’m not at all disagreeing with social distancing or lockdown, we have isolated since last week but I am wondering if people with allotments can still tend to them?
They might rely on them for food soon & you can easily keep away from others

SunshineCake · 23/03/2020 18:20

*@Mrsappleby I'm ridiculously relieved you will have your washer today. Mine once broke down with three kids in washable nappies 😢

SistemaAddict · 23/03/2020 18:20

Why does he need to interrupt if it's not live? Or will he be in his bunker by the time it's on?

mrshoho · 23/03/2020 18:20

@findtherainbowafterthestorm My Dh hasn't had his yet although consultant said he would be in this group. it could be a text or letter and everyone should receive by the end of this week.

@selfisolatingsince2007 get home safe

TheCanterburyWhales · 23/03/2020 18:25

Mumoftwo- ours do but I'm not in the UK.

SansaSnark · 23/03/2020 18:25

@Bercows I guess because he wants it across all channels and it's not scheduled to be broadcast at any time today.

I feel really worried about this, and I don't know why- if it's to announce stronger measures then that's a good thing, but for some reason this is making me anxious.

Angryrant55 · 23/03/2020 18:27

My bins were both collected an hour apart today when both due tommrow - one of them said due to sickness. Are refuse collections being stopped in a lockdown - the cities will stink where most people don't drive and cant get to the tip.

SunshineCake · 23/03/2020 18:28

*@findtherainbowafterthestorm I am wondering the same. Was told by a nurse I am high risk and dh is medium but neither of us have received a text and she hasn't met either of us.

Mrsappleby · 23/03/2020 18:32

@SunshineCake thank you. I couldn't risk leaving it. It's been worrying me all afternoon

Angryrant55 · 23/03/2020 18:35

Netherlands one of the first to extent their all large gathering ban to the 1st june according to dutch freinds.

MangePasTesOnglesVilain · 23/03/2020 18:35

The text was just one way of being told. I got one today. From what I understand there are several ways of identifying patients, eg outpatient lists, medication lists, GP records of diagnosis or prescriptions.

So some people might get 2 letters and a text, some just a letter or a text. And if you think you are missed off the list you can ask to discuss with GP.

I'm paraphrasing the deputy CMO from yesterday's briefing.

colouringinpro · 23/03/2020 18:36

I am attempting, not very successfully to support my yr7 and yr10 kids learning. I'm particularly worried about dd in year 10, this is basically her GCSE content that she's not been effectively taught.

I would really like for her year to be able to repeat Yr 10 so they can be taught by teachers. but thats not going to happen is it? Sad

SistemaAddict · 23/03/2020 18:38

@SansaSnark I think it's the officialness of it. We all know what needs to happen but it actually being announced or the possibility of it actually being announced confirms what we thought and feared but wanted to keep people safe and makes it real. Hope that makes sense!

I'm tired tonight. Today hasn't been easy with the children and dd1 is hot and unwell but not enough that she's not driving us mad. She's a terrible patient when she's in that limbo between needs to be in bed and is feeling well enough to carry on as normal but is poorly and tetchy.

Horehound · 23/03/2020 18:38

@MarshaBradyo he's in Cambodia. He had a flight with BA due on 29th from Bangkok but bankgog are closed now. He can't go to Hong Kong because they are closing on 25th and there and no flights before then. They now have a flight booked on 30th to go Cambodia to Doha then Doha to london but that's so far away and Dominic Rab just said to get home now. They can't!

Gammeldragz · 23/03/2020 18:54

@findtherainbowafterthestorm it won't be just texts as not all patients have a mobile number registered. Our GP surgery got a copy of the letter we will be sending out this week. So there is more than one route of notifying people. Our phones went mad when the texts went out!

woodencoffeetable · 23/03/2020 18:54

the dutch have just published their new rules. which are essentially the old rules, but give mayors the right to impose fines and close down spaces.
hairdressers and other non-essential businesses with close customer contact have to close.

Angryrant55 · 23/03/2020 18:55

John Stevens - 'The government is telling people on holiday in the UK or staying at second homes to return to their main residences "as soon as possible"

(except if they have symptoms)'

Should my aunt leave my cousins and go home - it's easier for her to be there but will that be illegal. '

confusedandtired99 · 23/03/2020 18:58

Even if he does say we are in lock down we will still be allowed to go to the shop to get some food won’t we?

justchecking1 · 23/03/2020 18:59

Essential travel will still be fine but there may be some restrictions eg food shop twice a week, one person only
