The primary haven't contacted me about their FSM. High school have organised evouchers but as I can't get any food deliveries now I'm not sure I'll be able to use them. Thankfully my brexit stash is helping and not having to pay for bus fares and new schools shoes means more money has been available for food in return last two orders i was able to make. I'm worried for the very vulnerable children who won't get lunch at home.

March 7th was the day before the lockdown in Lombardia. Cases then we're something like 75% located in that one region. it was seeing those figures that caused the regional lockdown (decision taken by regional governor) I think they saw the way things were headed and so took that decision. They now know the national lockdown should have happened well before that, but how can you tell a country where at that stage most regions had no fatalities, few cases in ICU and a very low contagion that they needed to lock down.

Is Boris going to mumble on the tv today?

Quartz2208 · 23/03/2020 17:45

@crunchycarrot I have wondered why it starts on March 6th with 2 not March 5th with 1 (it’s my DD birthday I remember finding out) as it’s starts with italys first

ClashCityRocker · 23/03/2020 17:45

Figures are up - 335 dead per gov site

Angryrant55 · 23/03/2020 17:45

James Forsyth - 'Government determined to avoid using the ‘L word’. But we are heading for stricter restrictions.'

Alan McGuinness - 'Sky's @joncraig reports that additional restrictions are believed to be on the agenda at this evening's COBRA meeting.
"All the signs are that the government is going to announce much tougher measures this evening," he says.'

SistemaAddict · 23/03/2020 17:45

I dread to think what the shops, roads and public transport will be like if they announce lockdown with too much notice. There'll be last minute panic travelling to second homes in the country.

SubjectMatterExpert · 23/03/2020 17:46

@ClashCityRocker which again isn’t too much of an increase

Jenasaurus · 23/03/2020 17:46

is that 335 total or additional deaths!

ofwarren · 23/03/2020 17:46

The digital dashboard will be updated later today. t.co/NwiiPlZzKZ

ClashCityRocker · 23/03/2020 17:47

subject Indeed. Let's hope it continues.

thelittlefox · 23/03/2020 17:48

Agree on the reliable sources too. I have a close family member fairly high-ranking in the military, the only inside knowledge he offered me is that Tesco's have more manpower than they do! If he knew anything I'm pretty certain he wouldn't tell friends or family so they can pop it out on social media.

defthand · 23/03/2020 17:50

+967 cases
+54 deaths

+5605 new tests

Angryrant55 · 23/03/2020 17:50

Even four hours notice will see a mass exodus.

Mrsappleby · 23/03/2020 17:50

Will we get notice if we lockdown or will it be effective immediately?
My washing machine has just broken down and think I will need to get a new one

Angryrant55 · 23/03/2020 17:51

Alan McGuinness - 'The Press Association reports that shops except for pharmacies and food retailers could be ordered to shut.'

defthand · 23/03/2020 17:51

Does this mean 967 new cases are all in the ICU, given Matt Hancock told Parliament only ICU patients were being tested?

SunshineCake · 23/03/2020 17:53

Mrsappleby, usually if you order with AO before 7pm they will deliver the next day.

Petiolaris · 23/03/2020 17:54

If non essential shops are closing does that include mail order and online shopping?

willdoitinaminute · 23/03/2020 17:55

Sorry have had a day away from screen and TV cannot believe that people are not taking this situation seriously. I have given up worrying about everyone else and I am retiring to the emergency bunker for the duration. I may come out when lockdown is enforced.

Angryrant55 · 23/03/2020 17:56

Maybe non essential orders but surely not tesco online ordering

Horehound · 23/03/2020 17:57

@Angryrant55 we knew about the shops etc from your list earlier from the times!

Angryrant55 · 23/03/2020 17:58

I think showing people on commuter trains being the blame is wrong - it the bosses not sending workers home not workers to blame.

Horehound · 23/03/2020 17:58

@willdoitinaminute but can't we see the message from your friend?

willdoitinaminute · 23/03/2020 17:58

Sorry just to add there must be something afoot because they’ve cancelled Pointless.
