Seriously though, we should have a detailed breakdown of age, gender, and how many people had an underlying condition and how many didn't. Because right now, generally healthy people (who I appreciate may have an undiagnosed underlying condition) are probably still thinking they are somehow exempt from risk, and that it will, for sure be "mild" and they will survive. Some people need that wake up call. If the only people becoming critically ill and dying do have underlying conditions, it's still tragic and should inform patient assessment in the first instance. If people present as symptomatic they should have a general work up for both the virus and the underlying conditions raised as risk factors as standard. It would be nice if this didn't have to be a retrospective study after the carnage. And yes, funding and resources are scarce. I do get that. But either we learn this thing inside out as soon as possible or we don't.
