Seriously, fuck off.

I live in a South East coastal town and today on my facebook ive seen photos of full car parks and hoardes of naice middle class people all gathered on the beach with "take away" beers in plastic glasses.

Just fuck off - that is not social distancing because you are outside. Fuck off back to London or where ever you came from, or just fuck off if you are local.

I managed to talk to my mum on the phone today. She lives in the next street but i think I have CV. She is 84 with dementia and other illnesses, she has carers and cannot understand why I'm not visiting her and can't hear me on the phone but i was able to talk to her today. I told her I loved her because im actually scared ive already passed this on to her and I won't see her again.

So yes I know its a lovely sunny day and all the shops are shut and yes it's great to get out and get fresh air but do not all congregate around a small beach area to drink beer you mindless fucks.

FUCK OFF Angry

I live in the Cotswolds and can confirm that the place was swarming with people yesterday.

Our little community is 75% retirees. If we had a major outbreak here is would utterly eviscerate the local hospital.

HIVpos · 22/03/2020 07:44

@Mohster If a man diagnosed with HIV spits on a person that is classified as attempted murder,

Seeing as it’s not possible for HIV in saliva to transmit to anyone else, (even from someone not yet on treatment who might have a high viral load) I’m not sure what country you live in that might cling to this outdated belief, especially as you say you are a lawyer, so would deal in facts.

@TheoriginalLEM
No not a park , just the seafront and hip shops

Petition for a lockdown for anyone who has had enough.

If my last post is removed, or link fails, it can be found by searching "government petition lockdown".

We stayed at home yesterday as for other reasons it has spiralled into being a complete tip over the last two weeks and we both felt like we needed to get on top of everything for me to be able to keep the kids going and for both of us to take it in turns to wfh.

We were in the garden a lot, I couldn't hear anyone around at all. An original plan had included getting fresh air from somewhere but I think all the open space places we might have gone would have been rammed. Especially the seaside. I think that's what everyone did yesterday up here (north east.)

I have asthma that mainly reacts to viruses so I'm completely minimising my own and my children's outside contact.

Dh is twitchy about viruses at the best of times so is channeling his very mild ocd in positive ways.

lazylinguist · 22/03/2020 08:25

I live on the edge of the Lake District and we went for a walk in the fells yesterday. There were quite a lot of people doing the same, but in big open spaces it's easy for people to keep their distance and they were noticeably doing so.

Obviously we didn't go into a town or village after our walk for a drink/snack as we normally do, but I've been astonished to see people still sitting in cafés and pub gardens.

It’s taken this for everyone to realise that the human race is basically selfish.

MarshaBradyo · 22/03/2020 08:29

Not everyone User

MarshaBradyo · 22/03/2020 08:31

But a big chunk it’s true.

YouAreTheEggManIAmTheWalrus · 22/03/2020 08:32

@lazylinguist I’m in a LD town, it’s been terrible, so many people around. Channel 4 news last night said Ambleside high street busier than central London shopping streets yesterday. I’ve contacted our MP, something needs to be done. Park Dean resorts still open in S Lakes, Sallys Cottages and Cumbrian Cottages still encouraging visitors. Appalled.

Prepenultimate · 22/03/2020 08:37

Glad the NT has reversed its decision to keep parks and gardens open. People flocked there in huge numbers so social distancing couldn't be done eg in car parks etc.

Rosehip10 · 22/03/2020 08:39

The NT was awful with its earlier in the week "our gardens and coast are great for health!" Press release. What did they think would happen on a sunny weekend with schools closed Angry

lazylinguist · 22/03/2020 08:39

Wow, YouAreTheEggMan - that's terrible. It would be sad if people in rural areas where it's easy to get fresh air and exercise while social distancing were forced into lockdown by idiots and irresponsible tourist businesses.

Ponoka7 · 22/03/2020 08:47

@HIVpos, but if you knowingly put someone at risk of getting your communicable disease (of any type) it is an offence against the person.

Such laws now need to be put in place. We are doing precisely what the Italians did and until we all know someone whose died, or in hospital, we will carry on.

TheElementsOfMedical · 22/03/2020 08:50

My understanding of safe practice is:

- don't travel to a holiday cottage or your second home (!) because if you fall ill in an area like Cornwall/N. Yorks/ the Highlands, you will be putting pressure on overstretched resources;
- don't go on days out to busy areas as it will be difficult to keep sufficient distance from others, and you will need to use facilities such as shops and public loos, with risk of contamination;
- don't meet up with anyone you don't live with.
- don't go to eg playgrounds where touching equipment is inevitable;
- use hand sanitiser after touching anything such as gate fastenings.
BUT
ok to go for local walks alone or with those you live with, provided you don't use facilities such as public loos and keep a strict 6 feet away from others (and go home if it is too crowded for that to be possible).

This^^ was my understanding too and makes perfect sense!

Teateaandmoretea · 22/03/2020 09:04

But there have been a few posts on here which seem to be annoyed by anyone walking anywhere

I may well have misunderstood though

You haven't misunderstood but they are wrong.

I think one issue is most people for a 'walk' head to the same places as the rest of the world. We rather condescendingly call them 'walkers motorways' and the one near us I deliberately avoided yesterday. Y'know the types of places that actually have public toilets.

Download the OS app find out where public footpaths go locally and walk that way. Most people don't do this.

HIVpos · 22/03/2020 09:07

@Ponoka7 but if you knowingly put someone at risk of getting your communicable disease (of any type) it is an offence against the person.

I was addressing the incorrect information that HIV can be transmitted in saliva. Spitting, coughing, kissing etc is not a risk.

Source...lots, including this one: www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/sexual-health/can-you-catch-hiv-from-kissing/

EricaNernie · 22/03/2020 09:29

it was shockingly busy at my local walk yesterday, even for a nice saturday. no one was smiling though, apart from a couple with a baby!
