Seriously, fuck off.

I live in a South East coastal town and today on my facebook ive seen photos of full car parks and hoardes of naice middle class people all gathered on the beach with "take away" beers in plastic glasses.

Just fuck off - that is not social distancing because you are outside. Fuck off back to London or where ever you came from, or just fuck off if you are local.

I managed to talk to my mum on the phone today. She lives in the next street but i think I have CV. She is 84 with dementia and other illnesses, she has carers and cannot understand why I'm not visiting her and can't hear me on the phone but i was able to talk to her today. I told her I loved her because im actually scared ive already passed this on to her and I won't see her again.

So yes I know its a lovely sunny day and all the shops are shut and yes it's great to get out and get fresh air but do not all congregate around a small beach area to drink beer you mindless fucks.

FUCK OFF Angry

No one’s getting it yet. I just don’t understand why. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I did go to the park today to walk the dog, it was probably the busiest I’ve ever seen it! There were whole families meeting up with other families, groups of teenage school friends and a what looked like a massive picnic going on (despite the fact that it was also vv cold) So i obviously can’t do that again, will have to take the dog out first thing in the morning and at dusk from now on.

I’m dreading two-weeks time, this is so sad 😥

Travelledtheworld · 21/03/2020 23:35

It's indicative of how people will behave in the event of an invasion or Nuclear attack. Millions of people all on the M4/M6 trying to get to Wales/Cornwall/Scotland.

pigsDOfly · 21/03/2020 23:36

Seems like a great many people are under the impression the country is entering a period of a sort of extended Christmas/Summer holiday with 80% of their wages being paid by the government while they idle away the next 12 weeks, or possibly more.

Fools.

Only when the bodies start piling up will they realise, and then they'll be complaining that the NHS should have planned for the level of the pandemic.

The government needs to implement a lock down. I don't want stupid people to have the right to use the personal liberty, that Boris Johnson is so enamoured of, to endanger those of us who want to get through this alive.

AlunWynsKnee · 21/03/2020 23:42

My dc haven't left the house since Monday when the official advice about distancing for higher risk people. I've been out once for a medical necessity. Every day like today extends our restrictions by up to two weeks. Angry

woodpigeons · 21/03/2020 23:53

Holiday parks are shut in Wales.
If they close them here will all the people have to go home !

Karmagoat · 22/03/2020 00:21

OP I hear you, the only thing to stop these fucking idiots is total lockdown we need it NOW x Flowers wishing you better

HighNetGirth · 22/03/2020 00:30

My Relative will be at crisis point tomorrow if the online shop is not delivered in full ( as seems possible). The family is in week 3 of full lockdown because one of them is super high risk. That will mean a 4+ hour round trip for me or DH to deliver what food we can buy or spare. I despair of those who won’t just dial down socialising and drinking to give more people a chance of surviving.

JamesNesbittsBrows · 22/03/2020 00:44

Everyone thinks they are a special case. They are not.

Flaxmeadow · 22/03/2020 01:26

Everyone thinks they are a special case. They are not.

So true
Has anyone mentioned truck drivers? Nope not really.
But they're working like dogs right now

Fozzleyplum · 22/03/2020 02:16

My understanding of safe practice is:

  • don't travel to a holiday cottage or your second home (!) because if you fall ill in an area like Cornwall/N. Yorks/ the Highlands, you will be putting pressure on overstretched resources;
  • don't go on days out to busy areas as it will be difficult to keep sufficient distance from others, and you will need to use facilities such as shops and public loos, with risk of contamination;
  • don't meet up with anyone you don't live with.
  • don't go to eg playgrounds where touching equipment is inevitable;
  • use hand sanitiser after touching anything such as gate fastenings.
BUT ok to go for local walks alone or with those you live with, provided you don't use facilities such as public loos and keep a strict 6 feet away from others (and go home if it is too crowded for that to be possible).

The problem is that so many people are stupid and spoil it for the ones who take care to stick to the rules. My asthma, which can make me dangerously ill if not well controlled, is much better when I can keep fit by walking or running. I will be able to continue to do this only if people are sensible, otherwise we'll all end up in lockdown.

LiveintheNow · 22/03/2020 03:57

This was the sort of ads we had in the 1980s, they need to bring this back.

FUCK OFF
Sparklfairy · 22/03/2020 04:28

@TheoriginalLEM I know which town and photo you mean, all sitting bunched up next to each other on the sea wall, beers in hand Hmm. I'm near you and it's all over FB. I'm absolutely furious, those seaside towns (my DM is in the next one along) have an ageing population, who are now forced to go out more often because of selfish fuckers stockpiling. Then they're crossing paths with these dickheads and in a week or two the health service is going to collapse. We have two options for A&E (if I'm right and it is the same place), both are miles away and we're bang in the middle. The worst part is, that these idiots are the ones who will get the ICU beds if they 'need' them as they have a better chance of survival [anger]

I really hope you feel better soon, it must be such a worry with your mum not understanding on top of everything else Flowers

Wannabangbang · 22/03/2020 04:32

So many stupid uneducated people walking around oblivious. The amount if teens in groups ive seen go past is astonishing. Just flabbergasted and this is why I can't walk my dog, there's too many people outside i can't risk it as a mother.

Sending hugs op and i hope your mum remains healthy Flowers
It's such a scary time, my mother isn't elderley but i can't visit her as she has many health issues i just can't risk her health.

What don't people get, it's invisible to the naked eye but once makeshift morgues start on every corner it will be too late. I think this is why very soon i think true lockdown needs to happen to stop eejits of society at large mixing

Topseyt · 22/03/2020 05:08

I feel that a very large percentage of the population are actually thick.

Tescodelivery · 22/03/2020 05:46

National trust parks have just closed completely for this very reason.

People think they're on holiday.

Tescodelivery · 22/03/2020 05:57

I know many of the people partying and out may have gardens and don't need to be out. But please remember there are many with children who are like caged animals stuck in.

Local park.
Local green space

Sockwomble · 22/03/2020 06:07

I'm glad they have shut NT parks. I thought the free entry thing was asking for problems as it was predictable that people would act in stupid ways.

MurrayTheMonk · 22/03/2020 06:28

I live in a village about 40 mins from London. Often gets mentioned in Papers as somewhere picturesque to visit. Nevertheless it's still usually quiet-few extra walkers of a weekend parking up and going for a walk, not much else.
Never seen it as heaving as it was yesterday.

Exh was talking to the kids through the window-we are in for 14 days but he's coming to see them for 10 mins chat from 2m away. A big gang of ramblers passed about a foot away from him. 'Oh are you isolating?' Says one. 'Yes. Clearly you aren't?' was the scathing reply. FFS!!!

Mohster · 22/03/2020 06:37

Whilst I agree with your sentiment, I would like to add a very important comment, you state if they want to risk their own lives etc these people are not just risking their lives they are then risking 100s of other peoples lives or even 1000s by spreading the virus between them and then going into society and spreading it. Every person who gets the coronavirus will pass it to others for 14 days before they become sick, it they are lucky enough to not be sick as most of these are likely to be then they are carriers themselves. So be it as we saw in America the teens enjoying on mass their spring break and suggesting it is not their problem, and they don't care as nothing is stopping them from enjoying themselves, if they were just risking their lives I would say get on with it but they risk your life, my life and every one of our loved ones. They may be in the low-risk categories themselves but the majority of the population are not, their parents and grandparents are not. If a man diagnosed with HIV spits on a person that is classified as attempted murder, whilst I am a lawyer and the criminal law would treat these idiots differently, morally its the same and if this madness and willful ignorance don't stop, this is one time where I agree my and everybody's civil liberties should be placed under the govt control with severe penalties. Being a teen does not give you the right to put the rest of society in the firing line.

KatherineJaneway · 22/03/2020 06:58

On BBC London news the other day there was a section on how Hyde Park etc were open and to come and exercise. People might think it is OK.

For the record no I don't and have been at home.

Chrispackhamspoodle · 22/03/2020 07:09

Socially isolating here, Tried to go on a 4pm dog walk yesterday to our usually isolated dog walking field. It resembled a small festival. Packed full of people and one large group in a huge circle on the path with loads of cans of beers in the middle basically moving the pub to a field. It isn't like they have all left the town though -that was busy too when we drove through. Market still on and Costa open doing a 'takeway' service (disposable cups).I couldn't sleep last night worrying about what we have facing us as a country and me, as an NHS worker, personally.

cobwebsoncornices · 22/03/2020 07:19

As well as stupidity, I think there are a few other factors at play. The weather has been miserable this year but is actually nice this weekend making people want to get out. A large number of people in hospitality who rarely got a weekend off have suddenly lost their jobs and, whilst stressing about how the hell they will pay their mortgage etc, want some normality by having a family day out. So many places are closed that everyone is crammed into the remaining places that are not prohibited. A feeling of invincibility combined with a fear of lockdown makes people think that they need to get out now.
We live in a very dull village. We went off a walk with the DC yesterday afternoon, something we wouldn't usually do but wanted some fresh air. Everyone else we saw we recognised but the majority of them wouldn't be out for a walk on a Saturday afternoon as they'd be doing sport/drama/play dates/parties etc. We were fortunate as we only ever saw people from a distance but a few sections of all of the paths around here are very narrow so we're re-thinking our daily walk.

MarshaBradyo · 22/03/2020 07:25

I’d be almost ok if people’s stupidity only affected them in three weeks, but it doesn’t.

jasjas1973 · 22/03/2020 07:28

Well, if i had a holiday home i wouldn't go and stay in it.

None of us know how this will play out, if villages get infected, who will they blame, when their family members can't get treated??

I'd def not want to be miles from anywhere with a very angry local population, who lets face it, hate you anyway.

catspyjamas123 · 22/03/2020 07:30

There has been no proper leadership from our government. We have a PM who only “advises” and whose own father is still going to the pub! If you read the report on Buzzfeed yesterday, you will see he was extremely reluctant to go forgot social distancing - which is why we had idiot Sir Patrick Vallance’s social distancing line. So people think that maybe they should catch it! As soon as covid19 started spreading it should have been stamped on. Proper action immediately, not waiting for the right place on a curve. We are being “led” by someone who plays to a populist mob and takes the weekends off. Also, I fear we don’t have enough police or troops to enforce lockdown.
