Seriously, fuck off.

I live in a South East coastal town and today on my facebook ive seen photos of full car parks and hoardes of naice middle class people all gathered on the beach with "take away" beers in plastic glasses.

Just fuck off - that is not social distancing because you are outside. Fuck off back to London or where ever you came from, or just fuck off if you are local.

I managed to talk to my mum on the phone today. She lives in the next street but i think I have CV. She is 84 with dementia and other illnesses, she has carers and cannot understand why I'm not visiting her and can't hear me on the phone but i was able to talk to her today. I told her I loved her because im actually scared ive already passed this on to her and I won't see her again.

So yes I know its a lovely sunny day and all the shops are shut and yes it's great to get out and get fresh air but do not all congregate around a small beach area to drink beer you mindless fucks.

FUCK OFF Angry

Another from a se coastal town , been avoiding going out but can hear loads of people chatting through out the day as they walk past my house towards the sea front , bastards just don’t give a toss for anyone

Bflatmajorsharp · 21/03/2020 22:17

This behaviour is shockingly ignorant at the very least.

We know how the wealthy leaving Milan spread the virus around Italy. We know that reducing the number of people we come in close proximity to reduces the number of people that we may infect.

My elderly mother has COPD and lives alone. She had very little food in. I tried to do an online shop for her on Monday, but the Asda website wouldn't accept a new card (the one saved had expired).

I tried again on Tuesday and there were no slots for weeks. I drove up with some provisions, stopped to get petrol which was pay at the pump and I wore gloves. I left her shopping on the doorstep and spoke to her through the window wearing a face mask. Needed a wee, so used a bucket in the garage (classy).

I've told her very clearly that although she doesn't like to ask for help, she is going to have to ask her neighbours until I get get an online shop set up (could be a while...) They will help - she just likes to be independent, which I understand but this isn't the time for it.

I wish I hadn't had to go. I live in London and although no-one in my household is symptomatic, we surely must be incubating CV and it's really unfair and dangerous to spread it around.

justasking111 · 21/03/2020 22:17

Wouldn`t be so bad if they were the ones that died. Sadly it will be friends and family they may lose, never mind strangers

TheoriginalLEM · 21/03/2020 22:19

Stuntbanana - is there a big play park down your road?

I actually think its fine to go for walks, in fact we must, i am talking about congregating like it's a bloody festival around a seaside bar. Just dont

No Asda delivery slots at all. Only goes up to 11 April but nothing before then.

NoMoreDickheads · 21/03/2020 22:21

It's ok as long as they ieally keep 2m between them. If they're crowded up more than that then of course it's not ok.

I will be going out to some scenic locations with a little coffee/picnic I expect. But bestie and I will try and avoid other people if we go on a trip.

Ilovemypantry · 21/03/2020 22:24

@Hippofrog
And that’s putting it mildly 😂

Toddlertown · 21/03/2020 22:34

Brighton? Me too OP, I don’t think people really understand the full ramifications of allowing this to spread, I really don’t. I’m hoping boris does a lock down now, because clearly, people cannot be trusted with choice.

TheMemoryLingers · 21/03/2020 22:36

Shrieking Remainer, or rather Rejoiner, here too. But what on earth does one's Brexit stance have to do with following the advice to stay at home?

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome · 21/03/2020 22:39

I'm sorry about your mum @TheoriginalLEM. My mum had dementia and I had to tell her the same things over and over every day. She died two years ago and this is the first time I have ever thought "I'm glad my mum isn't here and facing this with dementia". I absolutely know how hard it must be for you (and her) trying to explain over and over again why you can't see her.

And as for the fucktards on the sea-front - I have FULL RAGE for all of them. I live a few minutes walk from Richmond Park and headed up there early this morning (alone) to walk to the dog and despite it covering literally miles, it was almost impossible to follow proper social-distancing because it was like a bloody bank-holiday family day. People in groups all over the place.

Are these people not looking at what's happening in Italy? Are they literally that stupid?

McPeaked · 21/03/2020 22:43

Stupid, selfish people have gone to the island of Barra in campervans. The local MP quite rightly posted this on twitter. People are unbelievable

FUCK OFF
TheMemoryLingers · 21/03/2020 22:44

Are they literally that stupid?

They are one of three things -

Stupid
Selfish
Both

goldfinchfan · 21/03/2020 22:46

Same where i live AM furious with Holiday Park owners who are inviting these selfish people.
It is a small village and no doubt a visitor is going to spread the Virus. am so pissed off

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 21/03/2020 22:50

I actually think its fine to go for walks, in fact we must

Well i thought it was ok as well...within government guidelines

But there have been a few posts on here which seem to be annoyed by anyone walking anywhere

I may well have misunderstood though

winterchills · 21/03/2020 22:50

Selfish selfish people. I'm absolutely sure the majority of them believe oh it's fine I will be fine. It's all such a big mess and terrifying that people are so careless

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 21/03/2020 22:51

But what on earth does one's Brexit stance have to do with following the advice to stay at home?

Nothing...

But people are weird

Jellykat · 21/03/2020 22:52

Same here in Pembrokeshire, hoards of shiny big cars with roof boxes started arriving on Friday..
My local garage owner told them all to fuck off home.. Selfish bastards

SusieOwl4 · 21/03/2020 22:55

I think that we have relied on people thinking of others . And that is not going to happen. So should we explain that if the virus keeps spreading and they have an accident or fall ill there will not be a bed for them? Or if we don’t lock down and let them develop a proper test that they will have no job no future no nothing?

Enough4me · 21/03/2020 22:55

I'm on the parallel thread about asking second home owners not to leave cities. When I said I'm staying in could Londeners stay in, I was accused of racism. I said I meant reduce all travel, but actually feel as though my view was being suppressed. I don't care who is travelling, but second home owners in Italy, France and the UK travelling from the capital to the country could spread the virus more quickly.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3853404-To-say-please-dont-go-to-your-second-home

SusieOwl4 · 21/03/2020 22:56

Its ok to go for walks , but not close together in large groups.

backtonormalname · 21/03/2020 23:05

so scary, people haven't got it. Where are all these idiot daytrippers going to the toilet, public loos will create nice little petri dishes to spread the virus in.

NellyGrace · 21/03/2020 23:09

It’s not hard to just stay at home!

It is hard to stay at home if you live in a tiny flat (4 person family) with no garden.

I know many of the people partying and out may have gardens and don't need to be out. But please remember there are many with children who are like caged animals stuck in. We've been off school trying to isolate for a week now in London and I can already feel our mental health slipping. Quite significantly.

Our family is not meeting up with others, but we need some outdoors time.

Please think of this too. The results of lockdown are also going to have a negative impact on the (mental) health of this nation.

SpillTheTeaa · 21/03/2020 23:11

It's annoying! We're all meant to be working together to wipe this virus out but it feels like you can make all this effort and the idiots come out in their forces.
Look at the supermarket pictures and they're all stood together.
Pubs/Clubs all standing together.
Outside our little town bakery all the people were queuing to get in all stood together! 2m people!
BACK OFFFFFFF!

JamesNesbittsBrows · 21/03/2020 23:14

Walking, running, cycling with your own family, who you live with, keeping away from everyone else= fine.

Meeting up with groups of people outside those you live with to walk, run, cycle, sit on beach etc. =not fine.

It's not hard.

NellyGrace · 21/03/2020 23:17

JamesNesbittsBrows you've put it very clearly.

But I think the government hasn't. It's too open to interpretation at the moment.

I've just been discussing this with my kids and family. We've all seen the same news, but have understood it differently.

There need to be bullet-pointed facts on the news- in the way you've presented them.
