Italy’s figures is horrific!

justchecking1 · 20/03/2020 17:35

15,000+ cases for Italy on Worldometer 😳

AvocadoOwl · 20/03/2020 17:35

15,000 new cases in Italy?! 😱

danni0509 · 20/03/2020 17:36

They haven't got a fucking clue what to say about the shops

danni0509 · 20/03/2020 17:36

OMG Italy!

EducatingArti · 20/03/2020 17:37

This self employed person isn't tory at all! I earn a really low income- just enough to survive on. £94 per week won't be anywhere enough

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 20/03/2020 17:37

They’ve just amended it, thank god

lemonjumper · 20/03/2020 17:38

Italy is +5,986 on Worldometer now - earlier figure was an error.

SistemaAddict · 20/03/2020 17:38

Lockdown by stages it seems. By the end of next week all but essential shops will be closed I think.

Is there anything official yet on the 12 weeks for vulnerable people? I'm not sure if I'm in that group and if dds are in that group.

AvocadoOwl · 20/03/2020 17:38

Italy been corrected now, just under 6k

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 20/03/2020 17:38

Still horrific tho, just under 6k

danni0509 · 20/03/2020 17:38

Thank god but even still, hefty numbers coming in god bless them x

danni0509 · 20/03/2020 17:38

Do we have U.K. number I'd increase yet? I know the death toll

Angryrant55 · 20/03/2020 17:38

norman smith - 'So...Chancellor clarifies "shops" not part of closure plan......'

Jerseygaly · 20/03/2020 17:39

I think it's not surprising women are less affected.
They probably have less receptors on the lungs
Drink and smoke less.
Have more autoimmune issues and arthritis so may be on drugs that might help already.
Have to say this apocalypse is being caused/made worse by men.
Pubs/football matches/gym and yes women do these things too but are sometimes more cautious (testosterone) and worry about others and their children

Would be interesting to see a lot of where people think they got it.
As pp football matches or public transport or from their kids.

AvocadoOwl · 20/03/2020 17:39

Jesus Christ that really scared me. Obviously 6k is horrific but figures tripling in a day would have been absolutely terrifying.

Angryrant55 · 20/03/2020 17:40

I think they mointor ireland - pubs etc been shut a week there - if numbers still surge there then non essential shops will close.

tomthomas · 20/03/2020 17:41

Does anyone know where self employed tradesmen stand? As far as I can see that haven't been ordered to stop working yet. Is it likely the will be ordered to in the near future? Sorry if this has already been asked.

LuxLFC · 20/03/2020 17:41

I take Azathrioprine & just got a prescription a few weeks ago which I think is about 2months worth. Wondering if it's worth request more before it's due. I am supposed to have blood tests each time I get it so not sure they'll give it but I am worried about it running out.

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 20/03/2020 17:41

Jersey, women are also more likely to wash their hands...!

Angryrant55 · 20/03/2020 17:42

Tom Peck -'Boris Johnson, asked if he'll be seeing his mum this mother's day, says: "I hope I'll get to see her." The actual prime minister, publicly making clear he hopes to ignore the life-saving advice of his own scientists. It is not an exaggeration to say those seven words will kill.'

Angryrant55 · 20/03/2020 17:43

Julian Jessop - 'FWIW, I'm sure Rishi Sunak misspoke - he said 'shops' instead of 'clubs'...'

tryingtoprep · 20/03/2020 17:44

Johnson's plans to visit his elderly mother. Makes me think even more there's treatment for some but not the rest of us. Being overly cynical again.

Perhaps Sunak wants the shops closed now but was overruled by the PM?

It's not enough. Each time acting only after the horse has bolted. So we wait until things get even worse before a proper lockdown. Needless extra lives lost.

EightNineTen · 20/03/2020 17:45

He should have said something like "I hope I'll get to see her, perhaps in the garden at a safe distance, or going for a walk, again at a safe distance."

Angryrant55 · 20/03/2020 17:45

Sima Kotecha - 'Heartbreaking - 627 deaths in #Italy over 24 hours. More than any other day so far. No words. Total 4032'

Tom McTague - 'I wonder if Johnson will live to regret the "of course we're not" considering outright bans on all social gatherings. If the cost of these gatherings is other people dying they will, surely, in time, also be closed down.'
