A lockdown would be done after a corbra meeting (because the police and army need to be involved in all the details) which tend to get informed is happening.

SistemaAddict · 21/03/2020 13:44

What's happened to the advice for the vulnerable that was coming by the weekend? The 12 week guidance one?

willdoitinaminute · 21/03/2020 13:45

Perhaps that’s where Boris is at 2pm.

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 13:45

That was axed due to the backlash - it come back in a rewritten form.

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 13:47

The environment sec would be at corbra due to his duites to run the food distribution chain

MurrayTheMonk · 21/03/2020 13:48

I suggested it-she can take one of them for sure.
But she didn't want to be near our house for now as I think I've got it, dd2 has it...so hard to manage dog pick up.
When we are 'out' she will I hope.
I willl be back in work so I actually may need her to-I'm probably have to move in to my care home for a bit I think...

defthand · 21/03/2020 13:48

TBH I think the government is reaping what its sowed with all this disobedience.

They needed to test more to convince people this is a real, imminent threat. Reporting 700 cases a day won’t keep people inside. Some of us know this number is BS, that they’re only testing severe hospital cases, but not many.

Why were there only 2500 tests in the report yesterday?

mrshoho · 21/03/2020 13:49

@selfisolatingsince2007 Keep yourself isolated as much as you can there then until your return date. But in 6 days parts of the UK is likely to be in real trouble. Where are you flying back to? Please don't say London.

willdoitinaminute · 21/03/2020 13:49

These are unprecedented times who knows what is going on at Whitehall.

ClientQueen · 21/03/2020 13:54

People are not understanding at all. My dad is 70 and fairly bright. He wants me to come over. I said no, I am social distancing which means no family or friends
To which he said well I haven't got it. I point out he has been in contact with hundreds of people (running a pub) and what if he suddenly comes down with symptoms next week? And he's already given it to me? I'm very high risk
He got it then but I suspect this is what thousands of people are thinking "I don't have any symptoms, I'm fine"

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 13:59

Mark Kleinman - 'Exclusive: The government is parachuting in a former head of Nestle’s global food supply chain to take charge of a ‘war room’ that will oversee Britain’s food security as the impact of the coronavirus crisis deepens.'

Lifesavesocialdistance · 21/03/2020 13:59

Indeed client. This is what people tend to think when it comes to themselves.
I had a tete a tete the other day.

Someone said... Do you think I've got it?
And got huffy when I wouldn't touch their pen.

I said.. Maybe you do have it, maybe you don't. But what about me?

Is it ego?

Misunderstanding?.
What!! Any of us could be incubating it.

Nononoandno · 21/03/2020 14:03

I’ve just seen my neighbors (elderly couple) children and grandchildren turn up to visit with gift bags Confused

I’ve called my elderly mother and said for Mother’s Day I will arrange for my garden centre to deliver all her spring bedding plants and compost etc... that will keep her busy at home... so I a few weeks when weather warms up a bit, they can leave it on the back of her house. She has 5 children and we are all calling her daily and dropping off anything she needs..... it’s taken all week to drum it into her about not going to the shops etc and stay at home, she’s 82 and recovering from blood clots on her lungs

waspfig · 21/03/2020 14:06

Gov update live

Be responsible when shopping. Panic buying is making it harder for key workers to get their food.

Our supply chain can expand production. Manufacturers have made 50% more than usual.

Lifted restrictions on delivery times

Removed competition rules so supermarkets can coordinate deliveries.

Scrapped plastic bag charge.

Thank all staff In Supermarkets and food businesses.

Mrsappleby · 21/03/2020 14:10

Why does Boris never work weekends!?

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 14:15

Cat Neilan
'NHS England's medical director Stephen Powis is citing the video of tearful nurse Dawn after she could not get the food she needed following a 48 he shift. He says this was "unacceptable" '

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 14:16

Problem with no panic buying is a lot of people dont have anyone local they trust to help them when self isolating.

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 14:18

LBC News - 'Scotland has recorded its seventh coronavirus-related death and has seen a further 51 cases, taking the nation's total to 373.'

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 14:19

Donald J. Trump - 'HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE & AZITHROMYCIN, taken together, have a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine. The FDA has moved mountains - Thank You! Hopefully they will BOTH (H works better with A, International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents).........be put in use IMMEDIATELY. PEOPLE ARE DYING, MOVE FAST, and GOD BLESS EVERYONE!'

Lifesavesocialdistance · 21/03/2020 14:19

Does anyone else think we need visuals to help people understand transmission and on TV, Facebook etc?

Like the Washington Post ones...

Showing how many people 1 infected person transmits to

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 14:20

Ken Reid - 'There are 22 new cases of #coronavirus in Northern Ireland bringing the total to 108.'

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 14:22

Tim Shipman - 'Eustice fails to rule out state controlled food rationing.'

Think many are breaking self isolation rules as they dont have anyone to ask - plenty of people only really know their neighbours by face not by phone number or facebook - if your freinds or family not local people will panic

RedToothBrush · 21/03/2020 14:27

that will oversee Britain’s food security as the impact of the coronavirus crisis deepens.'

Oversee food security as the crisis deepens?

So what is this saying?

There are going to be issues with the supply of food in the future or they are certainly anticipating this is possible?

Is this food production in UK (no seasonal workers?)
Food production and processing (as workers we do have get sick?)
Certain problems with imports from abroad (connected with border closures?)
Problems with distribution to stores?
Problems with shops being staffed / deliveries to home?
Rationing?

If you have a child who will only eat certain things bring told by the government that certain things will not be available or if you have certain dietary requirements you can't ignore, that's not necessarily the small issue it's supposed to be.

If this press conference is supposed to reassure me, I'm not convinced by it because they are outright saying there is a potential problem with our food security which is going to have to be dealt with at some level.

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 14:29

Italy and Spain dont seem to have food shortages.

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 14:30

And their diers are even more fresh food than the uk.
