Sounds like they are addressing the food shortages etc today then.

HouseElfy · 21/03/2020 13:12

People ought not to be using cash anyway

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 13:13

Boris is having the day off - sounds like today is just don't panic buy advice.

People who have never used or don't even have cards will not change their habits over this.

Quartz2208 · 21/03/2020 13:13

@selfisolatingsince2007 get back when you can

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 13:14

Jonathan Haynes - 'Anyone else been out to buy food and been a bit surprised as to quite how many places are still open and quite how busy they are? Lewisham much like any other Saturday, just everyone trying to keep a foot or two apart.'

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 13:17

Sky News Breaking - 'Wales has confirmed its largest increase in COVID-19 cases up 89 bringing the nation's total to 280 and taking the UK total past 4,000 to 4,072.'

countrygirl99 · 21/03/2020 13:19

ATMs will still be available. There is extra publicity about alternative payment means, and yes it's a good idea to avoid cash. But in the end, if the staff are sick or in isolation then the branches can't open same as anywhere else.

mrshoho · 21/03/2020 13:19

@selfisolatingsince2007 What date did you fly out and are you aware of the new advice to pregnant women? You should be at home following social distancing as a vulnerable group. I hope you can get back safely and my advice would be to return.

Buzz feed - 'Downing Street is still considering a partial lockdown of London in the coming weeks.'

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 13:23

Buzzfeed - 'A lockdown at least in part reminiscent of what has happened in Italy and France is still being considered at the top of government if the situation worsens in the weeks ahead, despite Downing Street denying that it would happen. “This will be the hardest decision he will ever make,” a source said of the PM.'

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 13:25

Buzzfeed - 'Some ministers want Johnson to deliver a starker warning to the country about how difficult life is about to become in the UK over the next few weeks.
“This is going to get much, much worse, very quickly, both in terms of deaths and the economy,” the cabinet minister said. “It will not be long before we are getting numbers like Italy. I don’t think people realise that yet.” '

Is Jeremy Hint in the cabinet? If not, who is talking sense?

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 13:34

Probally someone like Robert Buckland who are carrerist and know in their hearts Boris flaws.

MurrayTheMonk · 21/03/2020 13:34

'In the coming weeks'... it needs to be now.
I think the choice is getting less and less hard to make actually as the penny starts to drop with people.
Which is what he's waiting for I guess....people to choose it rather than having to lose popularity himself.

selfisolatingsince2007 · 21/03/2020 13:35

@mrshoho completely aware. Falling on deaf ears though. I'm one more bad nights' sleep away from a category 4 tantrum.

BA won't change our flights and are instead trying to gouge inflated one way fares out of us. We paid £487 return each and now they want £1378 each for us to come back early.

selfisolatingsince2007 · 21/03/2020 13:36

@mrshoho flew here on the 14th. Two weeks is a long time on an island where the only good activities are swimming and drinking rum 😫

MurrayTheMonk · 21/03/2020 13:36

Boris is taking the day off? Now?

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 13:37

Harry Cole - 'Just drove past Hyde Park on way to no10 presser. It’s rammed with people. Lots huddled in groups. Ffs. This is why we are not allowed nice things.'

MurrayTheMonk · 21/03/2020 13:37

But if you are isolating there and can do successfully maybe better to stay there tbh...

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 13:38

Julie Owen Moylan - 'Today on twitter . ICU doctor detailing leaving his wife a letter containing info she might need should he die trying to save people over the coming weeks. (13 doctors in Italy have died). People whining because they can’t go to the pub.'

AlfieandAnnieRose · 21/03/2020 13:38

@MurrayTheMonk re your neighbor, could she take your dogs out for you now and again? Give her a sense of purpose. That is if they’re not big hulking strong dogs that could knock her over!

Janemarpling · 21/03/2020 13:40

When do the loacl authority cases update?

Mine still says two but I honestly don't think that is the case.

willdoitinaminute · 21/03/2020 13:40

Do you think that they may announce further restrictions at 5pm. It makes sense to close pubs etc last night so everyone is home tonight for the big show. Hopefully major broadcast peak time when everyone is expecting Ant & Dec or the Voice or whatever crap is on on Saturday evening.

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 13:42

Probally not tonight. More likely tommrow night. No need for the 2pm stuff if doing stuff again at 5pm.

willdoitinaminute · 21/03/2020 13:43

They have to do it before tomorrow. Mother’s Day is a potential catastrophe about to happen.
