Yes, Sunday 8th for Lombardia
Tuesday 10th for the rest.
Apart from the hotspots within Lombardia which had been shut down totally beforehand.

Angryrant55 · 20/03/2020 21:54

My family all think they had it in december as everyone but me had a bad cough in december.

MadameF · 20/03/2020 21:58

If you follow France's example you will be in lockdown by the beginning of next week. We are on day 3 here. Restos, bars, all non essential shops closed Saturday midnight, lockdown from Tuesday midday. You are less than a week behind in number of deaths from the virus.

Angryrant55 · 20/03/2020 21:58

It be a bit odd if no one in the uk worked it out till January and surely be now we should be having mass deaths.

Unless it mutated or someone released a more toxic version.

Angryrant55 · 20/03/2020 22:00

I think non essential shops will come a couple of days before lockdown - they might try a stay at home order like parts of the usa before we need papers etc

Helenj1977 · 20/03/2020 22:01

They'll ramp it up over the weekend. I actually think they're being clever here, little and often changes and no crazy panic.

Angryrant55 · 20/03/2020 22:02

I think shops is coming Sunday evening.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 20/03/2020 22:03

DD2 just told me Harrods has closed, apart from Food Hall and pharmacy? I mean, I know it makes zero diff to how most of us live etc, but how on earth will the residents of SW1 cope???

Helenj1977 · 20/03/2020 22:03

I hope so. My mum is still working in a busy shop

WhoWants2Know · 20/03/2020 22:04

Helenj1977 · 20/03/2020 22:05

Boris being compared to north korea for shuting the pubs.

Angryrant55 · 20/03/2020 22:32

Luke Edwards - 'The pubs in Newcastle are absolutely rammed, every single one I drove back past from the hospital was full of people. So dread to think what it is like in the city centre. For fuck sake, it’s not just young people either.'

Bimbleberries · 20/03/2020 22:36

I wish all this new hand gel that the breweries etc are making could be distributed (besides to the hospitals, care homes etc) to supermarkets to make people use on the way in. Or anywhere else that they think it is spreading on surfaces. We are all told to wash our hands when we come back, etc, and of course you must do that; but getting people to bring fewer germs into the stores before they start touching things might help too. In the bird flu times, in some countries they had sanitizer dispensers at all the lifts before people pressed the buttons, when you went into places, stores, malls, etc. Wonder if they could do something like that here. Of course the security guards would have to be involved in watching whatever dispenser they used! But there could be something like that. Or at least encouraging people to wash their hands as close as practical before they go IN to the shops, as much as when they come out.

A breakdown of UK cases by area (obviously only those that have been confirmed as testing positive, so likely to be a fraction of the actual number, but at least gives an idea where the confirmed cases are).

Hi everyone, can anyone link me to any new coronavirus legislation ? My company has closed, I don't know how long for. I'm not getting paid, worried about the rent, debts, bills

fannyanney · 20/03/2020 23:18

I'm sorry if this has already been answered before...

We are following Italy's trajectory pretty well. However, we're only testing in hospitals. Who were they testing in Italy when their figures were as low as ours? Just hospital too? Or community.. gp surgeries etc?

Angryrant55 · 20/03/2020 23:22

Lewis Goodall - 'NEW: Spoken to a source working within Northwick Hospital.
Says situation there is “tough”
-A&E divided into two- one A&E for Coronavirus and one without
-they’re seeing at least one new #covid19 patient an hour, in just one hospital.
-still not enough protective equipment.'

GatoradeMeBitch · 20/03/2020 23:38

Remuzzi says he is now hearing information about it from general practitioners. "They remember having seen very strange pneumonia, very severe, particularly in old people in December and even November," he says. "This means that the virus was circulating, at least in [the northern region of] Lombardy and before we were aware of this outbreak occurring in China."

This is very interesting, because we've been saying the same thing about a virus circulating in the UK around that time which resulted in pneumonia for many. I had it. It's the sickest I've been in well over a decade. But wasn't it concluded that it was a different virus altogether?

Itscoldouthere · 21/03/2020 00:28

This thread is so useful. Thank you all.

BNO Newsroom - 'Washington Governor Inslee: "Someone asked the other day, 'what's the penalty for a young person going out to a restaurant, or hanging in a social get-together?' And it's true the penalty is that you might kill your grandparent" '

After 45 years in the trade, my dad has just closed the doors to his pub for the last time SadSad
Never expected this, that when he got up this morning it would be his last ever day of work. I'm really emotional about it
