That’s the most badly written and research article I’ve read in a while!

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 19/03/2020 21:44

Stop with the scaremongering titles. It’s fucking irresponsible and damn right nasty.

TheCanterburyWhales · 19/03/2020 21:48

It's also true.
The UK is 14 days behind Italy.

LINABE · 19/03/2020 21:51

I agree totally. LOOK. AT. ITALY This Country's citizens cannot be relied upon to ALL do the right thing. Look around you. Look at other threads, WAKE UP. We need LOCKDOWN. Hell is coming folks,, tough if you dont like my words.

ilovesooty · 19/03/2020 21:53

People need to exercise responsibility. They don't need ranting and hectoring messages from people who seem to be unable to control themselves.

Didkdt · 19/03/2020 21:56

People need to stop saying we are 14 days behind Italy we are on a different trajectory.

That article is terrible
Londoners need to be responsible for their social interactions.

Didkdt · 19/03/2020 21:59

Abd action on the 15th February UK had MORE cases of Coronavirus than Italy

LINABE · 19/03/2020 21:59

I am saying it as it is. Whether you like it or not. People aren't listening. The government are dithering, A catastrophe.

Didkdt · 19/03/2020 21:59

I mean and actually

Derbygerbil · 19/03/2020 22:00

Stop with the scaremongering titles. It’s fucking irresponsible and damn right nasty.

It’s irresponsible not to raise the alarm when disaster is looming.

The UK is 2 weeks behind Italy if you check the figures... London is well ahead of most of the UK. Italy “locked down” 10 days ago. The Government needs do something similar in the next few days to maintain the catastrophe at the scale of Italy’s. If it allows things to continue into next week, it will be doubtless become worse.... and yet you insist on burying your head in the sand.

Are you okay @linabe?

TheCanterburyWhales · 19/03/2020 22:01

14 days ago Italy had the number of deaths the UK had today.
The UK trajectory might be worse, given that the original hotspot in Italy was a small town whilst in the UK it's London.
Exponential infection doesn't change from country to country.

LINABE · 19/03/2020 22:02

Why Sugarss?

SugarSugarShimmy · 19/03/2020 22:02

@Derbygerbil I mean this kindly but what makes you assume you understand this situation more than those that are experts and advising on now we avoid the Italy situation?

SugarSugarShimmy · 19/03/2020 22:03

@LINABE just because you sound really anxious I.e HELL IS COMING. I know it’s a stressful time so just checking in that you’re coping alright

TheCanterburyWhales · 19/03/2020 22:09

Italy is watching the UK horror stricken that the UK govt is doing virtually nothing to avoid a situation like Italy.

Rostbif · 19/03/2020 22:09

The UK are actually worse than Italy in terms of deaths, over the same time period. This graph is number of deaths, starting at the 10th confirmed death.

@SugarSugarShimmy

The experts are doing a difficult job in difficult times, and I have a great deal of respect for them. They have made errors though... such as pressing ahead with “delay” rather “suppression” in opposition to the rest of the world until Monday’s volte face. And even if we are on a slightly different trajectory, and I’m a week out, the direction of travel is the same. The longer we leave decisive action, the worse it will be. What is the point in delaying the inevitable at this time.

Delatron · 19/03/2020 22:11

We looked worse than Italy on the trajectory graph I saw today. Why do we think we are different? We are doing less than they did. Our local pub is apparently crammed tonight....

LINABE · 19/03/2020 22:11

Yes - because I have friends in Italy, Spain and France - In Italy and Spain it is Hell. Parts of France seem to be going the same way. They are in Lockdown as well. We haven't even got to the Lockdown stage and half the country don't seem to care one iota - that is the fault of the Government making too many vague decisions so people aren't taking it seriously. I fear what is going to happen and I stand by my comments.

TheCanterburyWhales · 19/03/2020 22:14

That's correct, the UK trajectory is worse. There's a good article explaining it in simple terms in today's Telegraph online. Screenshot of the relevant graph attached.

LINABE · 19/03/2020 22:15

Thank you for your concern SugarSugarShimmey. My friends cannot quite believe what is going on here - People packed in to Pubs, Elderly and vulnerable out having Coffee and doing a bit of Shopping etc etc - it is frightening.
Regards to you

Delatron · 19/03/2020 22:16

I think we need to stop talking about ‘scaremongering’. I’m sorry but we should be scared and change our behaviour accordingly.
We need to stop think Italy won’t happen here.

TheCanterburyWhales · 19/03/2020 22:25

Exactly.
And people who I think are in some kind of weird denial or just don't believe the science need to stop laying into the people who do.
I can understand people not wanting to believe it. Look at how fast the figures have grown in Italy after all. But there comes a point when people have to realise.
And then they need to first of all keep safe, them get fucking cosmically mad with a govt that has led them to the slaughter.

Chista · 19/03/2020 22:25

I dont think we should be scared, scared people do stupid shit. We need to be well informed and prepare for whatever may come our way.
