I think boris is perfectly willing to see his supporters in the press run on ' it was all the non white people not listening' which spread it.

That's fewer positives than yesterday isn't it?

Angryrant55 · 19/03/2020 18:20

Mirror Breaking News - 'BREAKING Coronavirus UK death toll clarified by government and it has gone up.'

Benjamin Kentish LBC -'A smaller increase than yesterday. Far early to say if that's a sign of anything - and it's unlikely to be a response to the new measures just yet - but that's the type of result the experts are aiming for, for now at least.'

Only just got back from wor-has he actually defined specifically who is a 'key worker' yet?

No! We desperately need to know to sort out how we are organising Monday!

Angryrant55 · 19/03/2020 18:22

Lewis Goodall - '3 other surprises from presser
-no new measures/detail on announced measures
-emphasis on cure (might be a problem when encouraging people to socially distance)
-continued confusion re pubs etc-public encouraged to stay away whilst saying they should stay open and retain staff.'

Sky News understands the Government has asked mobile network O2 to hand over anonymous mobile phone location data in order to ensure people are following social distancing guidelines during the COVID-19 outbreak

My dad just been through westfield food shopping (m and s and waitrose there.) and he said it was empty and not even many young people.

Can I ask, does controlled medicated high blood pressure fall into the high risk category?

justchecking1 · 19/03/2020 18:27

No

Angryrant55 · 19/03/2020 18:28

Benjamin Kentish LBC -'Particularly, of course, at a time when more testing is being done and you'd therefore expect more cases to be diagnosed even if the infection wasn't spreading (which it obviously is). We'll only know whether it's significant or an anomaly in coming days.'

This is a bleed dry and rule opportunity for the elite to own us.

Angryrant55 · 19/03/2020 18:29

Susana Mendonça - 'Spokesperson for Mayor of London
told me mayor’s meeting with PM was “positive & business like“ & that Sadiq Khan and Boris Johnson had “a shared understanding of the massive threat that faces us all”. There are NO plans to put guards on M25 or stop trains into London '

Lewis Goodall -'NEW: Department of Health and Social Care says that the UK #covid19 death toll has risen to 144. Total cases up 643 to 3269 (though obviously real number will be higher due to lack of testing).'

Peter Foster -'LOTS of #Coronavirus noise out there, so have been talking to senior NHS doctors about what is REALLY going on.

Some good stuff, some bad....this is NOT meant to be alarming, but it MIGHT make people think about need to take 'social distancing' advice seriosly.'

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 19/03/2020 18:33

Wild guess, but I'm gonna say the number we were given earlier was people who died after their test came back and they were known as CV patients, and the later number included those who died before their test came back, so officially they were waiting for "autopsy" for unknown death...?

ofwarren · 19/03/2020 18:35

@BNODesk 'As of 9am on 19 March 2020, 64,581 people have been tested in the UK, of which 61,352 were confirmed negative and 3,229 were confirmed positive. 144 patients in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have died.' t.co/xT1xxV921T

LuxLFC · 19/03/2020 18:35

@Momof2boys1girl I would just assume it did

@RedToothBrush totally agree & just like all those "it's just a flu" people it will be too late before the majority see what is going on.

Angryrant55 · 19/03/2020 18:36

Peter Foster - 'First, what's happening as NHS prepares, per frontline sources.

  1. Docs with ITC experience are all being asked to self-declare
  1. Ongoing (re) training of consultants and docs on intubation/ventilation
  2. Assumption staff will need to work 12hr on/off shifts.'

After watching that shower of shite I wish I was a news reporter so I could a question or two. I'm fuming with them all. Blaming the public already but just wait til things start getting really bad.

Janemarpling · 19/03/2020 18:38

Some schools are making all staff go in next week and will be deployed in other areas of the school. Not just for key workers.

Have they missed the social distancing memo?

Angryrant55 · 19/03/2020 18:43

Boris said 10% of chidren have key workers parents. Presumbly not all of them will send they kids in and wont every day if they work shifts or part time. Not sure how many of the care plans or sen kids will be in but surely ple

I've been lurking since we were at 8 cases. Thanks for this thread.

One of many things I can't get my head around is the disconnect between reported worldwide stats and the figures our govt/cmo/whoever is using to make projections. They repeatedly say we are 4-5 weeks behind Italy, when we have always been 10-14 days behind, for example. They now say that in the UK 4% of cases require hospital care, whereas the rest of the world stats say 15-20%. They anticipate 1% CFR but in China, where the wave has passed, it's 4% CFR, and they had way more medical support than us, and way more testing.

It's just pure made-up bollocks. These things are easily checkable. I don't understand why none of the people in the room at that press conference are calling them out on this. Why do they ask questions and then not press for an answer?

I feel like I'm going mad, or my brain has melted and I'm doing all the maths wrong or something. Or is the WHO just some crank panic-mongering cult, and I didn't get the memo?
