This is making me want to bash my head against the wall. The death numbers in Italy and we are still not closing pubs and cafes etc.

kirinm · 19/03/2020 17:27

This antibody test could be a game changer.

Rocketmam · 19/03/2020 17:27

There is no way this virus is being even close to beaten in 12 weeks. Well, not if they insist on keeping everything open and running as normal.

Far too many selfish people around who can't bear the thought of having any inconvenience thrust upon them. They don't give two shits if Doris dies.

Angryrant55 · 19/03/2020 17:28

They wont have the power to close pubs till the legislation goes through in a week or so.

Had a quick scan through so apologies of this has been asked already.. new cases reported today seems low?🤔

Originalyellowbelly · 19/03/2020 17:29

Boris is talking a lot but saying nothing.

Rocketmam · 19/03/2020 17:29

Do we still not have any case numbers for the UK?!

justchecking1 · 19/03/2020 17:29

"Many now die at home without tampons and not in intensive care, so they are not counted as deaths for Covid-19 in official reports.”

I'm thinking something's been lost in translation there! Made me smile

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 19/03/2020 17:29

@rocketmam

Nothing still.

MargotB7 · 19/03/2020 17:29

The trouble is, kids wont stay home. They'll be out, together.

My teenager is quite happy staying talking to mates online.

Angryrant55 · 19/03/2020 17:30

If you on a package holiday the company pays a last minute flight.
If the government are too lazy to extend advise against all travel to give refunds then people are not going to be willing to lose money they might soon need.

1happyhippie · 19/03/2020 17:30

Nothing new so far.
Follow the science, squash the curve, right thing at the right time and Thankyou for following the advice to avoid large crowds in pubs (they’re not!)

We need to be stepping up here, it’s ramping up and we are again dithering about!

Yamayo · 19/03/2020 17:30

So how many more cases today?

Rocketmam · 19/03/2020 17:30

Has it ever been this late before?

Angryrant55 · 19/03/2020 17:31

Steven Swinford - 'Police themselves are uncomfortable with the extent of the powers.
John Apter, chairman of police federation, told my colleague @fariha54
there will be challenges
'It is going to be difficult dealing with someone who is really a patient, but dealing with them as a prisoner' ' .

I've just broke down in tears my food shopping from Asda was nothing. I had my usual shop ordered the same things I buy every week. I have 3 substitutes and nothing else 😭 I haven't panic bought I have Carried on ordering the same week in week out now I have nothing to feed my kids and realistically even if I make it to a shop on my day off from work probably won't be able to buy much 😭

Angryrant55 · 19/03/2020 17:31

Sam Coates Sky - 'he says he does want to see people follow advice in the capital and there’s lots of evidence they are. But in some parts of the capital it’s patchy so we may have to consider going further.
But no prospect of stopping tube, stop from going to work if have to.'

OP posts:
Angryrant55 · 19/03/2020 17:32

Paul Brand - 'PM doesn't rule out forcing pubs etc to close to keep people away.
"If we feel that [voluntary action] isn't working and we have to bring forward other measures then nothing is ruled out". '

OP posts:
lannister · 19/03/2020 17:32

@justchecking1 they probably meant to type symptoms not tampons

Angryrant55 · 19/03/2020 17:32

Paul Brand - 'Prime Minister says there is "no prospect" of the government stopping transport in London, or stopping the tube. "There has been a bit of misunderstanding floating around about that" he says. '

OP posts:
defthand · 19/03/2020 17:33

@justchecking1

lol, yes, google translate fail. The Italians call tests “tamponi”.

Angryrant55 · 19/03/2020 17:33

Alex Wickham - 'Boris Johnson on why he hasn't yet ordered pubs and restaurants to close.
We are guided by the science.
If we feel people are staying away, we want to say thank you.
If we feel it isn't working, do not rule out tougher measures.'

OP posts:
justchecking1 · 19/03/2020 17:34

But they've already reduced tube service haven't they?

HouseElfy · 19/03/2020 17:34

How many new cases in the UK are there today?

Yamayo · 19/03/2020 17:35

It feels like they have realised people were nervous about schools, especially in the light of schools closing all over the world.
Now that they have done that, it's back to a lot of nothing.
