Oddly tight chest (highly unusual) but no other symptoms - is it CV and what would you do?

Self-isolate until sure one way or the other (me, DH, DD)??

Or does CV just never manifest itself this way, even in the v v early days.

I feel fine and dandy, just this very very unusual tightness in chest leading to me coughing occasionally - cough is not persistent as I'm bretahing careful to ensure I don't cough but tight feeling is very distinct.

Has anyone who's had it/knows someone who's had it said it started this way?

It's been 2-3 days of the tight feeling. No other symptoms of any sort at all.

yes- I've got this too and was wondering the same thing.

BigGillsBigMac · 17/03/2020 20:38

Same.

I have coughed maybe 10 times today. So not loads but my chest feels heavy and tight.

And when I do cough it's sore

LinesmanMinnelli · 17/03/2020 20:39

I think this is anxiety. It has brought my asthma on 3 times in the last 48 hours

GreyPaw · 17/03/2020 20:40

I've got this too. Tight chest started on Saturday after a long brisk walk (slightly asthmatic so not unusual) but hasn't gone away. I don't have a cough as such, just cough occasionally. Feel fine in every other respect. I did wonder if it was anxiety.

NarniaBanarnia · 17/03/2020 20:40

Oh ok so it's not just me... it's so bizarre having to second guess and worry about things you maybe normally might not bother about... I mean in 'normal' times this feeling, if I had it (which I never do) would eg make me think I shouldn't go to the gym or run or anything. It's not insignificant and it's not something I usually experience.

But is it CV?!

I do understand btw that t'internet cannot diagnose me... :)

@NarniaBanarnia you need to go to this thread.

AllNewThings · 17/03/2020 20:42

I have this too. Not anxiety I don't think. I don't recall feeling like this before. It's like what I imagine breathing in a big cloud of thick dust might feel like.

BigGillsBigMac · 17/03/2020 20:42

I have anxiety, I have a tight chest from anxiety most days. But this feels different

NarniaBanarnia · 17/03/2020 20:42

I'm ruling out anxiety in my case as I DO suffer form anxiety (have done for years) and have never once had tight chest. My physical anxiety symptoms are stomach related (lucky me) and always have been. Oddly, also, given that I have suffered from anxiety in the past (not for a while tho) I'm relatively calm. I mean obviously I'm worried as hell but I'm not ANXIOUS if that makes sense.

AllNewThings - THAT IS IT - like inhaling a cloud of thick dust!!

I’ve also got a tight chest - but no cough

aliasname · 17/03/2020 20:49

Yep, had the tight chest few weeks ago. Very odd feeling as I never normally have chest problems. Slight cough which wouldn't even have been noticeable under usual circumstances. I couldn't do anything as at that time they were still talking about travel history (which I didn't have)

It lasted about 2 weeks, and I never felt unwell. Unfortunately there's still no evidence that if you have had it, you are then immune is there?

NarniaBanarnia · 17/03/2020 20:51

Me too aliasname - I never have chest problems. I can count the number of times I've had 'A Cough' in the last 20 years on the fingers of one hand. Easily. I get sinus trouble every year, I always get a stinking cold in Feb... I never get a cough or a tight chest.

I posted about this in another thread a few days ago. Experiencing the same, coughing sporadically and also have upper back pain. I'm currently SI symptoms in household.

HeyJupiter · 17/03/2020 21:08

Exactly the same! And upper back tension. I do have the start of a sore throat too but don’t think that’s one of the symptoms? I feel very anxious though so could all be that.

BriefDisaster · 17/03/2020 21:10

I have this but thought it was from acid refulx due to feeling very stressed.....

Loveatortie · 17/03/2020 21:10

I've had a hot feeling throat for the past few days, very unusual for me Hmm

TattooEnvy · 17/03/2020 21:14

I've got this too, it's come on today after a few days of a pretty sore throat. I also have pretty bad anxiety so I've been putting it down to that, but I don't for sure and I don't know what to do really.

I'm trying my best to socially distance myself anyway as I'm in the vulnerable group, but the DCs school is still open so I can't totally isolate with school runs to do Hmm

Applejaxx · 17/03/2020 21:17

My anxiety has certainly be bad lately. Its set off my IBS, Ive had indigestion and heartburn a lot and Ive not been sleeping well.

LinesmanMinnelli · 17/03/2020 21:20

Just spoke to my respiratory consultant friend, and he said without fever or cough, or other ‘viral prodrome’ it’s unlikely to be CV.
I have tight and sore chest, breathless, feels like breathing through dust and waking at night feeling as if I have no breath at all. But also periods in the day without any problems.
I have asthma and anxiety, in the normal run of things.

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 17/03/2020 21:21

This could be a totally unrelated virus. My chest hasnt felt right, slight cough, but of a sore throat, headache every now and then. I usually get something around this time of year. I don't think its covid. Honestly l think if l get it l will go down like a sack of shit, lve only just recovered from a lung disease.

LinesmanMinnelli · 17/03/2020 21:21

I had other anxiety symptoms today as well, diarrhoea, shaking and racing heart. Such a fucking fun time.

Hagbeth · 17/03/2020 21:29

I was surprised too find this thread because I have the same! Tight chest started a few day ago, occasional chest cough. No other symptoms. I had a cold a couple of weeks ago, no fever or cough though.

bluejelly · 17/03/2020 21:34

I have the same. Am presuming CV and isolating. Weird isn't it?

Applejaxx · 17/03/2020 21:36

I always get something around this time of year as well. I remember a really dreadful virus I had about four years ago around Easter which pretty much floored me for well over a week.
