Oddly tight chest (highly unusual) but no other symptoms - is it CV and what would you do?

Self-isolate until sure one way or the other (me, DH, DD)??

Or does CV just never manifest itself this way, even in the v v early days.

I feel fine and dandy, just this very very unusual tightness in chest leading to me coughing occasionally - cough is not persistent as I'm bretahing careful to ensure I don't cough but tight feeling is very distinct.

Has anyone who's had it/knows someone who's had it said it started this way?

It's been 2-3 days of the tight feeling. No other symptoms of any sort at all.

I have had tight chest for a week then in the last couple of days really achy and tired.
Last night, it was so tight and I was sure I was ill not anxious but have woken up today feeling bit better so now unsure. Realised it's always worse in the evenings. Is that more likely to be a bug or anxiety or something else like blood pressure?

LuckyMarmiteLover · 20/03/2020 13:00

My tight chest has got a lot better bug my cough is worse. No temperature and don’t feel I’ll though.

SabrinaTheTeenageBitch · 20/03/2020 13:15

Im starting with a very tight chest today. I dont feel unwell but I do suffer with health anxiety so as you can imagine my stress levels are through the roof. Assumed it was down to that, how odd

Weepingwillows12 · 21/03/2020 10:56

I have woken up with no tight chest after a week of it getting worse. Have a splitting headache but did have a couple of candles of beer last night so may be related to that.

MiniaturePanda · 26/03/2020 20:13

just wondering how is everyone progressing after 5 days? I've had tight chest for the last three days, and diarrhoea, wondering if the mild symptoms escalate later..

Amnesiac73 · 03/04/2020 11:06

Had this since around Monday. (Tight chest, sometimes tricky to breath properly - not gasping just harder) Spoke to the doctor and mentioned my tight chest. She didn’t sound too concerned about it as I was showing no signs of anything else. I am not on new medication for my anxiety so hopefully this may help.

I do suffer from hot flushes when anxious as well as acid reflux which this also feels like.

I had this. Thought I was just really unfit until my husband got the same. We had tight chest, could hardly breathe when lying down and pretty much just knackered for a couple of weeks. Who knows if that was it?

HarrietOh · 03/04/2020 11:23

I had this a couple of weeks ago and put it down to anxiety.

Minai · 03/04/2020 11:44

I posted on this thread on 18th March with tight chest and sore throat. It has been 3 weeks and it’s neither got better or worse. I kept expecting it to either turn into a cold or go away and it hasn’t yet. Not sure what to think. I have mild asthma which only ever flares up when I have a chest infection yet I’ve been having to take my inhaler a couple of times a day these last couple of weeks. I don’t think it’s coronavirus but I am more worried about getting it while my asthma is like this.

TheMidnightSpecial · 03/04/2020 12:49

I hope everyone feels better soon.

I'm also having similar. No idea if it's anxiety or not.

Started with 2 days of fatigue. Then I developed a slight scratchy, burny sore throat really mild but worse when swallowing. Had a couple of days of scary heart thumping worse on movement. Have had a tight chest for nearly a week as well. The chest thing is mildly tight but getting shooting pains when breathe in at times. Comes and goes, but is quite frequent when it's there. In total it's been 2 weeks.

I occasionally do get similar chest symptoms before, like when walking up a hill in cold weather I'll get a few twinges.

I'd very much like for it to be anxiety. I do suffer badly from anxiety, but never ever had chest pain with it before, although it could be the subject matter. I don't have cough (only coughed a few times) or fever. Although my temperature was well above what it usually is for a while.

Like others on this thread, no idea!!

Keep posting though

MummaPI · 03/04/2020 12:53

I have the same, chest is tight and I feel breathless but no other symptoms. Trying to be rational that without other symptoms it's most likely not but bit is this feeling uncomfortable. I've also had bad indigestion which I put down to stress

fairyfingers · 03/04/2020 12:58

Can I throw out tree pollen allergy? That's exactly how I am atm and how I get every year now. Mine came on suddenly one year after never having had it before. Pollen is v bad this year

Amnesiac73 · 03/04/2020 12:59

I was also thinking the amount of cleaning that is going off at the moment, old it be ‘fumes’ from the cleaning products? Some are very strong? Just an idea to add to the anxiety etc

Amnesiac73 · 03/04/2020 13:00

Could*

MummaPI · 03/04/2020 13:10

I've never had hayfever but I know it can come on at any age so it could be that I guess 🤞

scaryreading · 03/04/2020 13:24

I went out to the supermarket and chemist. I tried my best to isolate etc but have come back with a sore throat. I was the same last weekend when I went out.

I feel anxious and panicky as you keep reading about people going downhill so quickly.

I'm not normally like this at all

Seventyone72seventy3 · 03/04/2020 13:27

I've had this for the past month and it doesn't seem to change or develop into anything else so I think it must just be anxiety.

Welshponyslave · 03/04/2020 13:34

This is very interesting. I have had a strange feeling in the front of my throat and top of my chest for a couple
Of days, like a cold burning- as if I have ran cross country on a freezing cold day (school
Memories!)
I have also been exhausted, had head aches, sore throat and muscle pain, however I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue so out this symptoms down to a flare up caused by the stress of everything.
I have been off work 2 weeks, been to a supermarket twice.

TheMidnightSpecial · 03/04/2020 13:49

@fairyfingers that's interesting about the tree pollen. I don't get hayfever, but I'm wondering, I've barely been out at all but my windows have been open all the time. Can tree pollen be an issue just opening the windows??

@Seventyone72seventy3 A month?? That's quite reassuring. Can I ask what your chest symptoms feel like please??

TheMidnightSpecial · 03/04/2020 14:25

Spoke too soon. Now have a dry cough. How's that possible after weeks??!!

scaryreading · 03/04/2020 19:36

I think as well you spend a lot time holding your breath and feeling panicky and anxious when you are out then you read of some of the stories of healthy people dying.

I feel a bit better

Plus the pollen

Linzi2377 · 06/04/2020 12:12

I’ve the same..burning throat ,tongue and nose sometimes..I googled symptoms and it points to gerd..I will try gaviscon later see if that helps a bit...strange as never been bothered before in my life! X

Postspecific · 09/04/2020 17:49

My chest tightness and difficulty breathing retuned for one night. I have a slight wheeze now when lying down.

Cornettoninja · 09/04/2020 18:28

I had something similar before Christmas. I was getting up at night just to stand outside and feel like I could breathe properly. I’m 99% sure it wasn’t covid but I was contemplating seeing my GP to ask for an inhaler or something (I had childhood asthma but not suffered in eons).

There are some very similar things floating about and we’re also in hay fever season. I think the options are to see how it develops and home remedies (steam, vapor rub, paracetamol, breathing exercises) or try an antihistamine and see if that helps. Please call your GP/111 if you’re concerned, if it’s not covid you could benefit from other treatments and recover quicker.

Can I just tout the ZOE project too if you’re not already on it. Guys and St Thomas’s are running an app to track people’s symptoms (even if you’re well). It even be reassuring to track your symptoms with them.
