Lockdown conditions in France

CroissantsAtDawn · 17/03/2020 06:01

Ive seen lots of threads with people worrying about lockdown.and how they would cope/ it would be enforced.

Last night, following the President's announcement I received a text message from the government confirming the lockdown for 15 days and linking to a site with details.

From 12 today we are only allowed out to go to work if work from home isnt possible, buy groceries, see a doctor, help elderly/vulnerable family in need (with reminder about barrier actions), to let a dog do its business or for individual physical activity close to home.

Each time you need a paper dated and signed explaining why you are out. Infringements are fined 38-135 euros. The paper can be downloaded and printed, shown on your phone or just hand written.

100 000 police and army personnel are being deployed to enforce the conditions.

No mention of how children can exercise. Just that parks etc are closed and there should be no family or friends gathering.

We are going to test going out early for run with 1 DC each and hope that is allowed in "individual activity". If its not I ll stand on the doorstep and watch them run up and down the road (2 highly active boys living in a flat....)

Thanks Gfplux I hope they bring you happiness too.

BriocheBriocheBrioche · 01/05/2020 21:10

Beautiful Muget Gfplux.

The protocol sanitaire for the schools is a pretty intense document that is going to be hard for everyone to manage in reality.

We’ve decided not to send DD back to MS. My work has been wiped out completely so can teach her at home. She’s too young to understand why and how to social distance.
We will however be sending the eldest back to CE1. She struggles at school and needs to be with a teacher - there are only 12 kids signed up to go back so she should be in full time which will be good for her progress.

Looking forward to being able to go further than 1km. Feel a bit ripped off though as we are super close to another department and half of our 100kms is in the bloody sea!!!
Still, feel lucky to live in a nice place with plenty of open spaces to explore not to far from home.

KatharinaRosalie · 01/05/2020 21:23

Our 100km is mostly Germany and Switzerland, which will be quite useless if they won't open the borders..

Roseau18 · 01/05/2020 22:14

The weather has been so warm here, that the lily of the valley in my garden flowered the first week in April!

LaChatte · 01/05/2020 23:01

I would imagine people living in and around Brest are pretty miffed by the 100km rayon.

MadameF · 02/05/2020 06:28

I would imagine people living in and around Brest are pretty miffed by the 100km rayon.
I don't think so, the Brestois can still go north, east and south of Brittany to visit which gives quite a lot of options. The worst thing about living in Brittany is being surrounded by coast but the beaches are still closed, even though they never get busy - even in the peak summer months. Plus we are one of the least affected areas by the virus in France.

missclimpson · 02/05/2020 07:05

We are about 60km from the Normandy beaches so hope we can get up there for some days out and a swim in the sea if they re-open. I don't think we can hope for anything more than that and I have no idea when we will see our children and grandchildren in England and Spain. We are used to grandparenting by FaceTime though.

Watchagotcha · 02/05/2020 07:53

DH and I were talking about summer, and coincidentally I received an email from one of the campsites we have been to on the Med coast. They are asking people to book now, no deposit, no payment until10 days before, and assuring us they are taking steps to adjust the sanitaire facilities.

I can’t imagine any camping will be happening this summer. The whole experience is about social closeness! Sharing facilities, kids all running / cycling around in a big gang, visiting crowded markets, going to the bar / pizzeria, playing in the pool etc.

Usually the sites are full of Dutch / Germans / Belgians and English. I can’t see many of these countries allowing a mass exodus of their population to the south of France, and then returning two weeks later.

Watchagotcha · 02/05/2020 07:56

The above is a long winded way of saying: what’s going to happen for the grandes vacances? That’s probably our next big déconfinement milestone. We’ll be wfh very flexibly for the foreseeable future and not putting the kids back in school, they aren’t a priority - there will be other children that need those spots more.

KatharinaRosalie · 02/05/2020 08:32

Sicily has allegedly offered to pay half your plane tickets and third of hotel costs, so they are hoping to get some foreign tourists.
I hope we get to see at least some kind of a beach this summer - I really miss the sea here in Alsace.
Numbers are looking good for France. And while we still have many people in hospital here, they do say that virus is not actively circulating any more.

Booboostwo · 02/05/2020 08:40

I would imagine that at best people will vacation within their own country or countries that are very close by by car and still within the EU, under social distancing conditions.

MadameF · 02/05/2020 09:23

I'm hoping all my July and August UK bookings will postpone to 2021as soon as possible so I can open date to the French as I'm sure that everyone will stay in their own country this year.
This year is a disaster income wise.

AuldAlliance · 02/05/2020 10:07

With the red and green zones and the likelihood that déconfinement will lead to to a new rise in cases, I wonder whether we'll be restricted to our own regions for the summer.

There was a tailback due to a police roadblock at the access to the Nice/Italy motorway on Thurs evening, before the long weekend.

CroissantsAtDawn · 02/05/2020 12:09

If our Italy holiday doesn't happen in July we'll be hoping to do an extra week or 2 in France and I think we won't be the only ones!

Staying in our own departments all summer will kill tourism.

Frenchfancy · 02/05/2020 12:31

We've already had about half our summer guests put back to next year. Our French enquiries are up this week.

Financially the year is a disaster, but the monthly payments from the government and the reduction in Ursaff payments helps.

@MadameF have you declared your new expected income for 2020? Ursaff will reduce the cotisations straight away and they have removed the penalty if you get it wrong.

missclimpson · 02/05/2020 14:18

I find it hard to believe that they will be able to allow the usual huge numbers of people leaving and returning all at once. The autoroute service stations would be a nightmare for infection.

CroissantsAtDawn · 02/05/2020 14:26

Good news concerning 11th May:

La limite de déplacement de 100 kilomètres sera effective sans limite départementale ou régionale, précise Christophe Castaner.

Frenchfancy · 02/05/2020 15:50

That is good news. We are only 35km from La Rochelle but it is in a different department. Its where we go for things like decathlon. This also means we will be able to go for a bike ride on the ile de Ré.

CroissantsAtDawn · 02/05/2020 16:17

Oooh lucky! We went to La Rochelle area on holiday once - it was lovely!

OP posts:
KatharinaRosalie · 02/05/2020 17:09

ooh lovely, ile de Re, so jealous!

Frenchfancy · 02/05/2020 17:33

It'll be even better without the thousands of parisiens that normally crowd the island.

BurneyFanny · 02/05/2020 17:57

I heard from our FCPE today that of about 6800 elementary pupils in our town, about 500 Have completely dropped off the radar. That is a public health emergency in its own right.

missclimpson · 02/05/2020 19:01

Have just seen the proposed extension to health emergency until July 24th, including a minimum of 14 days quarantine for anyone arriving in France.

KatharinaRosalie · 02/05/2020 20:11

well there go the July travel plans I was still hoping to maybe keep..
