Lockdown conditions in France

CroissantsAtDawn · 17/03/2020 06:01

Ive seen lots of threads with people worrying about lockdown.and how they would cope/ it would be enforced.

Last night, following the President's announcement I received a text message from the government confirming the lockdown for 15 days and linking to a site with details.

From 12 today we are only allowed out to go to work if work from home isnt possible, buy groceries, see a doctor, help elderly/vulnerable family in need (with reminder about barrier actions), to let a dog do its business or for individual physical activity close to home.

Each time you need a paper dated and signed explaining why you are out. Infringements are fined 38-135 euros. The paper can be downloaded and printed, shown on your phone or just hand written.

100 000 police and army personnel are being deployed to enforce the conditions.

No mention of how children can exercise. Just that parks etc are closed and there should be no family or friends gathering.

We are going to test going out early for run with 1 DC each and hope that is allowed in "individual activity". If its not I ll stand on the doorstep and watch them run up and down the road (2 highly active boys living in a flat....)

We are in NL and the schools are closed and both my kid are now being home schooled, though the school has been great. We picked up at their books and computers on Monday and each day before 8 am they send the day's instructions. My 8 year old also gets a daily video from her teacher with an explanation. My 7 year old is finding the focus difficult, but we have removed all his screen privileges till he had done his school work. Its a real learning curve for us all. Me and DH both have to work from home, so supervising the kids is tough. We also have workmen in (for now), so are 2 rooms fewer. I expect we will have lockdown soon, so any work they do now is good!

CroissantsAtDawn · 18/03/2020 09:17

Well DH did a 12km run with DS2 on the bike with no problem. They weren't stopped - probably because its very obvious their reason for being out!

Fine is now 135 euros.

Thanks for the info CroissantsAtDawn - I might try going for a walk later. I live in a small town so in a different situation from both you and missclimpson and have plenty of food. My children are both students in the UK which is slightly worrrying.

CroissantsAtDawn · 19/03/2020 06:20

Just a precision - you need to have a paper declaration. They dont accept it on your smartphone. People were fined for that yesterday.

If this is tomorrow's history it'll be nice for the kids to have a physical memory of it.

Yes, it’ll be so lovely for the kids to have a memory of the time when we lived through a global pandemic, there were food shortages and thousands of people died Confused

Seventyone72seventy3 · 19/03/2020 06:27

I'm in Italy and the mayor where I live has closed the parks and specified that you cannot go out for walks/bike rides for exercise. For once I am glad that I bought an exercise bike and have actually taken the clothes off it!

Cric · 19/03/2020 06:39

How do you get the dated slip?

Wallywobbles · 19/03/2020 07:12

Never been so happy to live on a farm. And this week the weather is glorious.

The sheep have the prettiest feet they've ever had. And the one I'm hand rearing got a good 20 minutes of being scratched and petted last night whilst I was doing their water.

I'm spending extended periods watching the new chickens settle in. They'll end up in the freezer eventually but still.

The horses still need exercising so the DDs are getting some too which helps them be less teenage. I think we'll be riding up in the forest today.

DH has just come off a ridiculously long stretch of being on call so is having siestas daily and early nights. I'm hoping he's going to build me a muck heap as the materials were our very last bit of shopping.

We can still get livestock feed but don't need much yet.

I'm also a teacher - I've set written presentations instead of orals for my last 2 (x4 groups) uni lessons. For the business school they've pushed all lessons back by 2 weeks so through official school holidays.

They're teaching us to use zoom online for teaching. Lessons are 2.5 hours long. It's going to be unbelievably knackering. Not looking forward to it.

An enormous amount of people got fined yesterday for going out - over 4000 of them. Apparently lots of checking papers in our local town.

I've not ventured out since the shutdown, Amazon has provided the odd bit that I missed - including a kilo of baking powder!

Wallywobbles · 19/03/2020 07:21

École Directe has ground to a halt. One of the schools doesn't seem to be getting any work out at all.

DD1 did her First Certificate last Friday - just in the nick of time.

Roseau18 · 19/03/2020 08:17

Yes, it is rrg1. You need to print the form you linked to (or copy it by hand) and you need to fill in a new one every time you go out.

KoalasandRabbit · 19/03/2020 08:47

Can you still order things online and get things delivered? Just wondering if we run out of anything other than food how we get it or if we can't. Thanks.

usuallydormant · 19/03/2020 09:40

Hello!! I'm in the alps and they're pleading with people to stop ski-touring climbing, hiking, biking and paragliding to help the emergency services.

Hopefully running is ok. I guess it just depends on whether or not people take the piss. The teachers suggested skipping as an activity which might help kids in confined spaces to burn off a bit of energy.

Have been quite impressed with our schools - they use ecoledirect but have been switching to google classrooms and are keeping to the timetable for collège and my daughter in CM1 has just had a day's worth of work on pdfs sent through via email.

Bin men just went past too! We haven't been to the supermarket yet but we have a lot of small foodshop in walking distance and so far we have not been told that the markets are closed, although I heard a warning on TV that they would close them down if they got crowded or people were selling non essential items.

Roseau18 · 19/03/2020 10:00

Our local food market is open (but with a similar warning to usualllydormant that it might close if it gets too crowded) the non-food stalls have, however, gone.

The local garden centre is still open because it sells petfood (one of the essentials) but according to a friend who was hoping to buy some gardening things to keep herself occupied, they have coordoned off everything except petfood.

I haven't been to the local supermarket (think medium sized Tescos or Sainsburys) so don't know whether they will only let you buy food and toiletries or whether you can still buy the other things they normally sell.

Unlike the UK, even the day before the lockdown none of the shelves were totally bare, although there was not much choice.

I'd ordered some bags for the hoover before the lockdown was announced and they were delivered yesterday. The local post-office is still open too.

CroissantsAtDawn · 19/03/2020 10:31

We did our runs today with no problem. DH with DS1 on the bike and me with DS2 on the scooter.

Shops are open but at 8am lots of empty shelves. And lots are changing their opening hours

OP posts:
Divebar · 19/03/2020 13:15

Shelves in the UK are not totally bare although they may well be in the larger supermarkets where people are driving. I’ve just been shopping for a friend who’s isolating and bought her fruit and veg from a market stall and meat from a butchers. I also went to a smaller ethnic food shop that had big bags of rice and lentils / pulses etc plus tinned tomatoes etc. M&S food hall still had plenty of food too. Things are not desperate just yet.

CroissantsAtDawn · 19/03/2020 14:00

Bit of a bad update from France - Sports Minister says cycling is not allowed as a physical activity and that going for a run should be limited to 1-2km, not 10 Sad

We're hoping they won't be too harsh on the DC cycling (we take them out at 7am) but the no 10km run will be a blow for us.

They are also closing loads of beaches in the South of France, and I've seen a rant from the Mayor of Paris that too many people are walking/running in favourite spots like champs de mars, bois de boulogne, bois de vincennes, les berges etc.

The restrictions are closing in.

Makiwa · 19/03/2020 15:03

Mind if I join? I've just taken a little walk in the forest behind our house to get my 9 year old out for some air. My first outing since Monday. Gutted about the news about running. Makes sense though.

Makiwa · 19/03/2020 17:58

Confinement. Le préfet des Yvelines ferme les parcs, les jardins et les massifs forestiers
actu.fr
My walk in the forest earlier looks to be the last for a while. All parks, gardens and forests closed in Yvelines.

MarshaBradyo · 19/03/2020 18:07

I assume all your cafes, cinemas, gyms etc have closed. Are employers still paying the wages and if it gets extended does the govt pick up the wage bill?

Annoying here ours are still open.

Wallywobbles · 19/03/2020 18:25

Yup everything but food, tabac and animal feed here.

Wallywobbles · 19/03/2020 18:25

But Amazon delivering as normal.

CroissantsAtDawn · 19/03/2020 20:51

Yes the government will pay wages. And they've said no small business will go under.

Fewer and fewer people in the streets of Paris.

Roseau18 · 19/03/2020 21:28

A friend of a friend is married to a policeman who says they have been told that "physical activity" should last no more than 15 minutes and should be within 500m of your house. I think I will be better off ticking that I am going shopping if I want a longer walk as the nearest supermarket is further than that.

I am finding the lack of noise from cars and pedestrians very unnerving.
