Lockdown conditions in France

CroissantsAtDawn · 17/03/2020 06:01

Ive seen lots of threads with people worrying about lockdown.and how they would cope/ it would be enforced.

Last night, following the President's announcement I received a text message from the government confirming the lockdown for 15 days and linking to a site with details.

From 12 today we are only allowed out to go to work if work from home isnt possible, buy groceries, see a doctor, help elderly/vulnerable family in need (with reminder about barrier actions), to let a dog do its business or for individual physical activity close to home.

Each time you need a paper dated and signed explaining why you are out. Infringements are fined 38-135 euros. The paper can be downloaded and printed, shown on your phone or just hand written.

100 000 police and army personnel are being deployed to enforce the conditions.

No mention of how children can exercise. Just that parks etc are closed and there should be no family or friends gathering.

We are going to test going out early for run with 1 DC each and hope that is allowed in "individual activity". If its not I ll stand on the doorstep and watch them run up and down the road (2 highly active boys living in a flat....)

We're high risk but high deprivation, so fuck knows basically...

missclimpson · 28/04/2020 17:54

My hairdresser just rang me to offer an appointment for the 12th. 😀

Watchagotcha · 28/04/2020 18:51

@Appuskidu

Apparently it doesn’t really need to be voted... it’s not a law, so really the govt are just being courteous by letting the other deputies say their piece. But that the vote is a given. The papers keep referring to it’s an announcement.

CroissantsAtDawn · 28/04/2020 19:31

Thanks @Frenchfancy I might take you up on that very kind offer. DH thinks he might be able to get some at work and it doesn't seem like they're obligatory except in transport which I will be avoiding

We're pleased they're lifting the 1km rule. But the 100km rule has definitely cancelled our weekend in Puy du Fou at Ascension 😞 (probably won't be open anyway).

And both our DSes could go back from the 11th - we ll see what the school proposes.

We're at a private school too (roughly 1500 euros a year not including canteen). So far the school has paid back any cancelled trips or events and will be refunding the canteen once they know what is happening in May. However as they have continued to set work (a LOT) every day they won't reduce fees. My CE2 child now has at least 2 zoom lessons a week (they exhaust him) and 4-5 hours work a day...

I'm not amused by the 100KM. That's still confinement if you can't even move around freely in the same country.
Still nothing about the borders or have I missed anything?

Frenchfancy · 28/04/2020 20:53

I doubt the Puy du Fou will be able to open with these rules. We run a holiday business in the Vendée. No Puy du Fou and no beaches and no-one being able to travel more than 100km so we're shut for at least another month. Our gites are big so the no more than 10 people also stops us opening. This is the first May in ages that we've had 4 long weekends. It was going to be a bumper year! Oh well.

MadameF · 28/04/2020 21:13

French fancy same here 3 gîtes and a shared pool I have no idea if I can open the pool or not. So far all bookings have postponed to 2021. The Ascension booking wanted to maintain but as they are coming from a neighboring department although less than 100km that won't be possible.

AuldAlliance · 28/04/2020 22:01

It's been voted through.

Appuskidu · 28/04/2020 22:18

@Watchagotcha thank you for explaining :)

Can I ask what the general feeling is over there about primary schools going back-are parents happy? Will the smaller class sizes be manageable for schools?

CroissantsAtDawn · 29/04/2020 06:20

The 100km is very restrictive. DH wanted to go see my 82 year old MIL who hasnt left her flat in about 8 weeks (a friend has delivered food a couple of times). She's very isolated and we're worried about her. But she's 130km away...and we're not sure it counts as motif impérieux famille.

We're praying they lift restrictions for August. We have 3 weeks booked on the Atlantic coast and we really really want to go. If they lift restrictions we might even try to book an extra week and teletravail

We’re booked to fly to my ILs in Spain in July. TBH it’s a bonus if that gets cancelled Wink

Watchagotcha · 29/04/2020 07:10

How are they going to check the 100km? Police contrôles on the main entrances/exits/touristy places but no attestation?

We usually go to my parents holiday place down south, for July and August. It’s a fully self contained house with AC and a pool - but more than 100km away. I can’t imagine them trying to force city dwellers to stay in their apartments when the canicule gets going.

KatharinaRosalie · 29/04/2020 08:31

Croissants same here, PILs are 130km away. You'd probably get checked if your licence plate is from elsewhere -- which does not make sense since they stopped changing the plates when you changed owners. Dh bought his car elsewhere so I expect he will be stopped and questioned often. DC keep asking about them and I'd be happy to risk the extra 30km, but PILs are elderly with health issues, so not even sure it's a good idea?

Local newspapers all speculating what extra restrictions 'red' departments will have, as clearly we will be one.

And Barney I also have a trip to Spain booked for July, but to see my best friend, so hoping that is still possible..surely they have to open the internal borders at some point, and the tourism industry in Spain.

KatharinaRosalie · 29/04/2020 08:35

Appuskidu in my region, some local authorities are unhappy, but parents seem to be all satisfied, as it's voluntary. The ones that want/need their DC back can do so, and the ones who don't feel comfortable don't have to.

I have no idea how our local school will manage the smaller classes and not mixing years, unless the majority of parents decide not to send DC back. From what I hear from the classmates of my DC, they are all planning to sent them though.

CroissantsAtDawn · 29/04/2020 09:12

Only DH would go to see MIL. She doesn't want to see me and the DC because she is worried about getting ill.

A colleague says its also recommended notnto leave your departement. Anyone see this bit? I missed that.

FingonTheValiant · 29/04/2020 09:32

Well if it’s just 6éme and 5ème, DH and I will only have to be in at the same time one morning a fortnight, assuming they don’t change timetables, but given the ball ache that would be I don’t think they will. So we’ll probably keep our 3 out of school. It’s only one per class but it’ll still help them a bit. At least until our older students come back (if they do).

A lot of the parents round here aren’t going to send their kids back immediately. Combination of télétravail and older siblings who can do childcare as the lycées aren’t going back.

Croissants I’m pretty sure I heard something about interdepartmental travel only for work.

PIL are 850km away and mine are in the UK, so the boys aren’t going to be seeing their grandparents for quite some time...

AuldAlliance · 29/04/2020 09:44

Croissants:

MadameF · 29/04/2020 09:45

The recommendations not to leave the dept and travel no more than 100kmwithout attestation are in place until 2 June. I think the government want to prevent a max exodus of people from cities for the pont weekends at the end of May, understandably. Which is why beaches are also closed.

CroissantsAtDawn · 29/04/2020 09:53

Ok thanks. So that means we can't leave the 75 grrrr. That's small especially with all parks closed

OP posts:
KatharinaRosalie · 29/04/2020 10:10

All the long weekends we will lose in May..in a normal year, we would have been travelling somewhere on all of them.

CroissantsAtDawn · 29/04/2020 11:28

I know, its frustrating. Its what gets us through the winter in Paris!

BurneyFanny · 29/04/2020 11:57

Big bunfight on one of my FB groups (maybe some of you Ile de France ladies are on it too!) as one of the members has boasted about doing a moonlight flit to the Ile de Ré.

Frenchfancy · 29/04/2020 12:01

That's disgraceful. There are hardly any cases on the Atlantic Coast, and very few doctors on the il de Ré. Tbh I'm not sure how they managed to get on the island as its closed to non residents. Perhaps the toll gates are all automatic overnight.

BurneyFanny · 29/04/2020 12:09
