School playground was noticeably quieter this morning.
3 out of 8 of my office are now working from home based on advise yesterday.
But then a friend has met friends for a coffee morning and says the coffee shop is busier than ever and I honestly despair.

cjt110 · 17/03/2020 09:35

My anxiety is sky high.

Overall head honchos at work saying X, MD saying X, my boss saying business as usual when I, and a fair few can work from home!

cjt110 · 17/03/2020 09:36

School far far quieter today.

And my Mum has finally understood she needs to go and get stuff with long shelf life and stay in. She has COPD and Dad has asthma.

Comenext · 17/03/2020 09:41

The money we spent on the Olympics would have built a new hospital and provided enough ventilators and equipment for the whole country.
Similarly the entertainment/restaurant businesses. We have built up the leisure industry. People working in that sector could have been trained in healthcare.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but maybe we should change our priorities now for the long-term future.

BeijingBikini · 17/03/2020 09:46

And all that money for pointless bollox like HS2

MurrayTheMonk · 17/03/2020 09:50

Still no word on the testing.
Local authority can't help.
GP can't help.
NHS 111 are ringing me back by 'noon' if they do.

I've covered the service with a skeleton staff for today. If one of them gets ill god knows... and I don't know about tomorrow.

Service users families mostly nice except for one woman who called me incompetent and why didn't I have a plan in place? No body has a plan in place. I'm a care manager not a fucking magician.

MurrayTheMonk · 17/03/2020 09:52

And I keep looking out of the window and thinking surely this will all go away now the sun is out like with normal flu season... but it won't will it?

BilboBercow · 17/03/2020 09:57

comenext. What if people who work in the leisure industry don't want to work in healthcare?
Do they get a choice?

Exochord · 17/03/2020 09:57

My local waitrose must be half empty as they haven't even been able to substitute some items in my order
My order is due today but the app is showing they’re out of stock of chicken, pork, fish, mince, sausage, meatballs, eggs, rice, bread, beans, tinned veg, tinned fruit, pasta, tomatoes, soup, corned beef, shower gel... I’m worried half of my order will be missing unless it got picked before everything ran out. If it even turns up at all because my delivery slot has passed now! No wonder people are stockpiling. I’m supposed to be divvying up my order and dishing out to three other households who couldn’t get a delivery slot, so if it doesn’t arrive then none of us will get anything.

Kuponut · 17/03/2020 09:58

Don't get me started on HS2 - that one is a particularly sore point of mine (we live in the path of it)!

kirinm · 17/03/2020 09:58

More people in the office today than there was yesterday. Probably because work emailed us all last night reiterating that we should all be in.

Comenext · 17/03/2020 10:00

Certainly they should have free choice but the government could encourage more people to work in NHS if they improved pay and conditions.
People will work in low-paid jobs in entertainment/restaurants if there is nothing better on offer.

ofwarren · 17/03/2020 10:02

@exorchord
I got an Asda delivery yesterday and most of it didn't come.
It's fine as I prepped in January and February so I'm not short of things but I do feel sorry for those who are struggling to get things like nappies.

usernotfound0000 · 17/03/2020 10:05

@Exochordy my Morrisons order is due this afternoon and I'm impressed that I've only got 2 substitutions.

SistemaAddict · 17/03/2020 10:05

All my neighbours have disappeared in their cars this morning so are obviously not taking the advice seriously. One often works from home and has two young babies so I'm surprised. Unless they are all out shopping?!

CandlesBlanketsandTea · 17/03/2020 10:09

I've just been to the shop as I was running out of milk and an elderly person was outside coughing whilst getting a trolley then someone touched my arm. I'm in a high risk group so I came home, washed my hands and put my coat and fabric bag in the wash. I feel like I can't cope with the anxiety and burst into tears. Did I over react? The lady who did it was thanking me for letting her go first. I feel so emotional.

MollyButton · 17/03/2020 10:11

Or filing up on petrol? Today must be safer to do that than a few days time.

www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-residential-care-supported-living-and-home-care-guidance

@MurrayTheMonk

Please see above link, may be of some help?

There are other links for Employers and Employees too on the.Gov Website.

MurrayTheMonk · 17/03/2020 10:20

Unfortunately that guidance seems to be a work of fiction.
Primary care and the local authority haven't shared any plans with us a provider. And so far no joined up thinking or working together to pool staff and resources.
Head of commissioning is discussing it with his team as we speak though. Let's hope they come up with something.

I'm going to struggle to even look at certain staff after this tbh. The ones with kids, health conditions, elderly people living with them-yep I get it. But the ones with none of those things need to take a long look in the mirror.

BeijingBikini · 17/03/2020 10:23

What are we meant to do if we might have a bog-standard chest infection? I have an annoying cough that I've had for a couple of weeks and tight chest, but no temperature - so it is probably not be CV. But how will GPs be able to prescribe antibiotics without listening to your chest? Are we basically on our own till 2021 now....

MurrayTheMonk · 17/03/2020 10:26

I mean why would any work that didn't physically need to have people in the office tell them they MUST come in. That just seems bloody ridiculous to me.

SistemaAddict · 17/03/2020 10:28

Someone has started a thread saying that posters should be banned for starting multiple cv threads that aren't on the cv board. Posters saying it's all hysterical overload. Hmm.

Justforthislifetime · 17/03/2020 10:31
Hmm

@MurrayTheMonk

I had a feeling you might say that!

After catching up with some of your earlier posts on this subject Flowers

Please update us with their words of wisdom, as I work in a related area and due back in to work tomorrow...

MurrayTheMonk · 17/03/2020 10:33

Will do. All silent for now so I'll assume they are battle planning and will be coming at me with a cracking plan any time now!
Meanwhile I'm going to try and get dd2 to eat something. Poor kid isn't well at all.

Justforthislifetime · 17/03/2020 10:34

Also thank you to all posting on here, an invaluable resource, take care everyone Gin (over 70% of course...) Grin
