My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

Feel a lot better as I end Day 7, metallic taste in mouth gone, less lethargic and flushed but the dry cough is now back and my throat is irritated. So I am entering phase 3 of the virus.

LizzyButton · 20/03/2020 21:54

End of my day 7 now. The symptoms have been residual all day. Coughed a couple of times, feel weary, mouth OK, temperature fine, upper chest pain gone. He's a day behind me and has it a little worse.

sierradelta · 20/03/2020 21:55

Getting so confused over all this. My symptoms from day 1 have been sore throat, with slight cough, but no real fever and no headaches, aches or pains.

It varies so much from day to day, sometimes the throat is really swollen and sore, other times it goes away completely. I sometimes have a nasty chemical taste in the back of my throat, which I find really disturbing.

Some nights I sleep soundly, others I am panicky as my anxiety causes my BP and pulse rate to shoot skywards.

I have convinced myself recently it’s not C-19 as it seems so relatively mild. I’m now on day 8 and hoping there is no breathlessness to come and I’m getting better although I do feel a bit spaced out.

Slightly concerned now to read that Fiona Phillips says she’s positive with similar symptoms (sore throat, cough, headache). How does she know? Are they all buying private tests?

Roostersmum2 · 20/03/2020 21:57

@user34254356 i have that awful metallic taste in my mouth, it began yesterday and I can't shift it. I've also had awful stomach upset, headache and body aches and pains but no coughing yet. I'm bloody anxious about the progression Sad

TheWooisStrong · 20/03/2020 22:09

@longshot I had the sore boobs too! Put it down to my toddler jumping on me.

Day 10/11(?) here. I think it all started around then with mild diarrhoea, and then a sore throat the day after. I felt a bit better, although weak and fatigued today, but now I’m in bed I’m full of anxiety again and can’t sleep.

DandyPenguin · 20/03/2020 22:42

sore boobs here too!

Day 3 here. I've rested most of the day but it's got worse this evening. Throat feels harsh and prickly. Chest compressed.

The right side of my head feels very compressed too with pressure over my eye - but just the one side, left side feels OK Confused Anyone else got that?!

And I feel very lethargic and rather woozy. Brain not sharp. I don't have a fever though.

Thoughts to you all.

ShastaBeast · 20/03/2020 22:52

I’ve taken ventolin to shift a wheeze and now feel wobbly. Definitely feel more poorly today but it’s up and down even within one day.

Reading NHS guidance we only need to isolate 7 days after symptoms start, unless we still have a fever. They suggest the cough can last longer but isn’t a sign of infection. I will cough it from first chest symptoms and can go out on Monday. DH and eldest on Thursday. Youngest isn’t really showing symptoms aside from asthma.

Anyone aware of the evidence that just 7 days is safe?

onlinelinda · 20/03/2020 23:04

finding you will be able to breathe. If you get worse ring your GP.

Yes I was wondering how the figures are going up? I also see news stuff where people say they tested.

How were they tested? I doubt all in hospital so where? On what basis? We should be told that I think.

I am surprised that even having respiratory disease COPD as an under 60 non smoker doesn't increase my chances of a getting test. The local GP and ambulance simply don't ha e access to them. I'm feeling resentful that there appear to be tests in Westminster.

onlinelinda · 20/03/2020 23:08

@ShastaBeast my doctor said 7 days from
Monday when I first spoke to her. Then said to restart 7 days on Thursday when she shifted from 'diagnosing' possible Covid to probable Covid.

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 20/03/2020 23:10

Theyre not testing asthmatics. I was told she wouldnt give me the steroids i would normally have for a flare up like this in case it was covid. Id only they could test!!!

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 20/03/2020 23:11

Reading this thread makes me more convinced I've had it or at least had the same other horrible virus you've all had!

My symptoms were sky high temp for 3 days (didn't go below 38, hit 39.6 at its peak) dry cough, breathless on exertion, banging headache, nausea, complete exhaustion and feeling unable to do anything.

However by day 4 I was able to start moving around a bit more and eat a bit.

By day 7 was functioning almost normally although still very tired. It's been a week since then and I seem okay but still have a horrible taste in my mouth and slight cough.

I'm really hoping to be tested for antibodies once they've worked out how to do it, I'm a nurse so it would be so useful to know.

LukeSkywalkingOnTheseHaters · 20/03/2020 23:14

I have had minor pains in my chest behind sturnum for past 2 weeks. Certainly doesn't feel like normal. No persistent cough (maybe 2-3 times) and don't think I had fever (felt hot one evening but not felt like my forehead is burning hot whilst I shiver and think it's cold like when I've had fevers in the past). No thermometer to tell.

Do people reckon its covid?

MaxNormal · 20/03/2020 23:23

c19check.com/start

This seems to be quite a good symptom checker, it covers most of them.

SchrodingersKitty · 20/03/2020 23:28

@LukeSkywalkingOnTheseHaters: I still really have no idea if this is covid or not. Sometimes I think we might be talking ourselves into it, and sometimes I think it must be. In a way I hope it is as it means most of us will have got off reasonably lightly and it might mean immunity. We should definitely all report back once antibody tests are available - that would be really instructive.

SchrodingersKitty · 20/03/2020 23:32

@MaxNomal: a bit terrifying - I put in my symptoms on the worst days and it recommended I should seek emergency care! But it is US-based and I don't think the NHS would agree given their current instructions. I was feeling rather calm and now am not so much.

DandyPenguin · 20/03/2020 23:45

I’ve just used it, putting in that I’m in the UK, and it said to call 999!

But I called 111 yesterday and got a callback from the doctor who went through a diagnostic procedure with me and I said I had it and gave me advice on dealing with it at home. She said the chest pains was pleurisy.

DandyPenguin · 20/03/2020 23:46

I think it’s astonishing they’re not testing. How they can accurately predict or do forecasting?

ShastaBeast · 20/03/2020 23:50

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.sciencenewsforstudents.org/article/coronavirus-most-contagious-before-and-right-after-symptoms-emerge/amp

This was interesting- about when we are contagious. But also includes details of some cases, let didn’t have a fever but had stuffy noses and coughs. One was asymptotic and one (of nine) developed pneumonia. Reassuring. So 6-12 days you’ll become safe and unable to infect others.

SebandAlice · 20/03/2020 23:58

I was keeping up with this thread and have felt many of the same symptoms. Has anyone on this thread had a positive diagnosis?

The reason I ask is there are many bugs/colds going around. Also pollen is high. I read thread and feel worse.

SchrodingersKitty · 20/03/2020 23:58

@DandyPenguin: that's what it said for me too. I think it's a bit of an over-reaction, actually. I wouldn't dream of calling 999 for these symptoms in normal circumstances. I suspect that the research team in Emory might not know how the 999/111 distinction works in the UK.

alloutoffucks · 20/03/2020 23:58

I have started with a dry cough this evening. Hoping it is nothing.

Grinchlywords · 21/03/2020 00:06

After suddenly feeling terrible this pm, after a week of things that could be dismissed as being anxiety or imagination, I contacted 111. Upshot was ooh rang back and thinks high likelihood I have it.

Grinchlywords · 21/03/2020 00:07

They can't know definitely of course, because not testing.

SchrodingersKitty · 21/03/2020 00:11

Of course, one other things that is happening is that because GPs won't see anyone with these symptoms, no-one with chest infections is getting the antibiotics they might normally be prescribed for secondary bacterial infections in the lungs. That might well account for quite a lot of us on this thread and a lot of people presenting at hospitals as well.

Casino218 · 21/03/2020 00:11

Yes got slightly twitched with 999 thing but it does mention a broader range of symptoms and that article reveals many who have it don't have temp
