I'll reiterate. Lighthearted. Assuming medicines don't count (you have an unlimited amount and they've invented a way to administer medical need virtually)

I've only got half a bottle of wine left so that's shit. Maybe a small amount of vodka in the freezer.

We always have tons of pasta but there's little to have with it. Oh! Frozen spinach. That'd help a bit. Dd is parky so she would complain until eventually caving and eating the weird pasta spinach concontion.

We would run out of deodorant within 5 days so there will be lots of showers.

At least a month- I have not panic brought but already (months ago) had quite a lot of tins, dried goods etc which we always keep in.
And bread in the freezer.
We wouldn't starve, but we'd be bored quite soon of rice and baked beans!

Miriel · 15/03/2020 18:01

About 6 weeks, although we'd be eating a very weird diet by the end of it, as the last things to run out would be tea, baked beans, porridge and protein powder.

I have two and a half bottles of wine and I'm the only one in the house who drinks it so that'd be fine!

EverythingChanges321 · 15/03/2020 18:01

6 weeks?
I’ve got chickens so plenty of fresh eggs every day that provide lots of meal options.

happymummy12345 · 15/03/2020 18:02

Not long at all. We can't afford to buy loads at once. Plus we are not sure if we have to move or not so don't really want loads of food in

Cerealnamechangerstrikesagain · 15/03/2020 18:02

Probably about 3 weeks, four if we really had to. But no wine And we’re a bit low on paracetamol if all of us were poorly at the same time, though I do have 3 bottles of calpol that DH bought back in the summer on an Aldi special buy.

TheMemoryLingers · 15/03/2020 18:02

As I personally have a considerable 'stockpile' of fat distributed about my person I think I could last for months as long as we still had running water.

TheGirlFromStoryville · 15/03/2020 18:03

About 6 weeks, possibly could stretch it to 8 weeks if following strict rations.
Isn't it crazy, 3 short months ago everyone was excited about Christmas etc and now people are scared for their very lives.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 15/03/2020 18:03

2 weeks easily. Could probably do a month, though things would get a bit lentil and pulse-y. It'll be a bonus that I don't take milk in tea... 😁

ProfessorPootle · 15/03/2020 18:03

I think we’d last 2-3 weeks, could do with more dog food. I’m recovering from ear/throat/sinus infection and can barely stand to eat anything, once recovered I think cupboards would go down a bit quicker. Also if dc off school would probably last 4-5 days as they can’t stop eating, would have to bring in a reward system where they eat dependent on set homework completed.

SoloMummy · 15/03/2020 18:03

3 weeks to still be able to have milk in tea etc.
For food per se, 6-8 weeks I reckon. Though the combos would be bizarre. And I would definitely have to ration the treats!

MrsWolf2 · 15/03/2020 18:04

2861 days. One day for each toilet roll in my possession.

ProfessorPootle · 15/03/2020 18:04

*dog food for the dog not us, he has a good 6wks of dry food but hates it, running low on wet

pastaparadise · 15/03/2020 18:05

How on earth do people have enough food for 6 months eating normally?! Where do you keep it, and how would you keep fresh fruit/ veg (except root veg)? If food becomes that scarce, i think you'd be robbed by the time everyone else ran out!

Reckon we could do a couple of weeks max, with some very boring rice/ tinned combos. Cats would have to find mice. Have alcohol but not enough pain relief should we all be ill...

YgritteSnow · 15/03/2020 18:05

About a month. I'd go down to one meal a day to make sure children had enough and make everything last longer. Alcohol wise, I rarely drink but unexpectedly have 2 x white wine, 2 x Prosecco, a bottle of cranberry and clementine Buck's Fizz and an unopened bottle of Amarula cream. All left over from Christmas. Enough ingredients to make a big cake each week for a month.

Rollypollyrosie · 15/03/2020 18:05

@TheMemoryLingers oh aye, I’ve got the huge personal fat stockpile too. I could probably last a year if I add that to my naturally hoarded goods. If everyone else runs out of food do you think I should be worried about them eating me?

CorianderLord · 15/03/2020 18:06

Probably 3-4 weeks with the freezer, pantry and fridge contents. Would be boring though and have to ration the amount.

Have one Budweiser and half a bottle of wine so that would be done fairly quickly.

Deodorant, shampoo etc we'd probably last about 8 months 😂

TheMotherofAllDilemmas · 15/03/2020 18:06

I don’t know... I comfort eat so probably I would go through all the food in the house before midnight.

If I didn’t have this little problem, probably 2 weeks, but that is because I hate going to the supermarket so I always have 2 weeks worth of food to avoid it.

UpsideRoundDown · 15/03/2020 18:06

Me and DH- weeks and weeks

3 kids, a real concern. 2 a bit fussy, one autism and a limited diet. I think she’d starve before consuming weird meals (she has been hospitalised a few times for food/ liquid refusal post sore throats leading to shut down)

Knowhowufeel2 · 15/03/2020 18:07

Probably 4-6 months, but I've always shopped like that, so haven't needed to stock up, as I keep a base level of all food, etc, in (eg, 20 tins of chopped tomatoes, 3kg frozen chicken breasts, 20 tins of soup, frozen veg, 48 toilet rolls, etc), and replace as it's used up, so buy normal amounts on a week to week basis.

SallyLovesCheese · 15/03/2020 18:07

Somewhere around 2-3 weeks, I suppose, perhaps longer if we rationed early on. I could always breastfeed DS more to save feeding him so much solid stuff.

I have two bottles of wine, most of a large bottle of gin and a bottle of Cava. But the chocolate would only last about a day! So will stock up on more in that 30 mins.

NemophilistRebel · 15/03/2020 18:07

My online shop came today and didn’t deliver the toilet rolls or pastas
I have 4 rolls left to last and only enough pasta for 1 meal Shock

YgritteSnow · 15/03/2020 18:07

the writing has been on the wall since then, but no one cared back in October.

I think no one knew actually. Why does someone always have to shoehorn a dig in? 🙄.

Geometricprince · 15/03/2020 18:09

That'd be really bad timing, my morrisons delivery is due in an hour and a half! Maybe two weeks at a push? We've got quite a lot of leftovers in the freezer, might actually make us eat them! Plenty of pasta but not much rice. But only two bottles of wine and half a bottle of gin, no tonic either and the soda stream canister has run out so not good at all.
