I'll reiterate. Lighthearted. Assuming medicines don't count (you have an unlimited amount and they've invented a way to administer medical need virtually)

I've only got half a bottle of wine left so that's shit. Maybe a small amount of vodka in the freezer.

We always have tons of pasta but there's little to have with it. Oh! Frozen spinach. That'd help a bit. Dd is parky so she would complain until eventually caving and eating the weird pasta spinach concontion.

We would run out of deodorant within 5 days so there will be lots of showers.

I reckon we could last 3-4 weeks without leaving the house - more if we started strict rationing. Provided the water doesn’t go off. If that happens, we’re proper shafted.

ohtheholidays · 15/03/2020 18:14

Maybe 4 weeks,if we rooted through the bottom of the chest freezer we might be able to make it upto 6 weeks.

We have plenty of tinned and dried goods and the fridge is full,we would run out of fresh fruit and veg though which would be pants but I do have lots of different baking ingredients in so I could make lots of lovely cupcakes, stodgy puddings and biscuits to keep everyone happy so swings and roundabouts for us.

Mintjulia · 15/03/2020 18:14

I’ve done a 14 day plan. Basic simple foods and Paracetamol for 14 days.

It won’t be haute cuisine but there will be hot comfort food for both of us for two weeks.
Since I am a terrible cook, I don’t have to try anything more taxing. I have the perfect excuse to eat sausages, breaded cod, meat balls, jacket potatoes or oven chips, and frozen veg. No one can moan at me in a national crisis.

Tulipstulips · 15/03/2020 18:19

I’m about a stone or so overweight too, so it wouldn’t harm me to be on a restricted diet for a while! Like a camel with its hump.

Lynda07 · 15/03/2020 18:21

A few months I think. I've always stocked up.

AdaColeman · 15/03/2020 18:23

I’ve only got a fridge freezer which doesn’t hold very much.

But on the bright side, I’ve still got some tins of tuna and of chickpeas left over from my Y2K stockpile, which is lucky.
Also, I’ve had the foresight to buy a large Lindt chocolate bunny, and I have a leftover chocolate advent calendar, so I feel I’m well prepared for the long haul.

trilbydoll · 15/03/2020 18:25

I've got loads of tuna and lasagna sheets but I'm not sure how much of that combination we could manage to eat!

BamboozledandBefuddled · 15/03/2020 18:26

3-4 weeks for food, toiletries, cleaning stuff. About 6 weeks for coffee. Might just make 2 weeks with alcohol. Am now hysterically rewriting shopping list for tomorrow.

swishthecat · 15/03/2020 18:27

About two to three week's worth of food, toiletries etc, but I'm going to have to make a mad dash to the off licence!

NotQuiteUsual · 15/03/2020 18:29

If online orders already placed count I reckon 2 months. It's not going to be fun and involves nettle tea from the garden and other back garden forraging.

But if we rationed from the offset I think we'd do OK assuming we're allowed to catch pigeons and squirrels.

teenagetantrums · 15/03/2020 18:31

Probably 2weeks off food. However we have no wine but l could dash to cornor shop and stock up in 10mins...not that we ever going to be in lockdown both work in places that would stay open..shame l wouldn't mind a few weeks at home.

fudgefeet · 15/03/2020 18:32

I’m sorry but what is the paprika pasta connection? Am I missing out on something special? I‘ve only recently discovered star anaise in chilli so don’t want to miss out on anything else.

TellItLikeItReallyIs · 15/03/2020 18:32

Netflix will be going mad. Hope they've got the infrastructure to handle 60mil attempting to watch at the same time.

A very good point. People will be back to broadcast TV and DVDs and glad they didn't chuck out their DVD player.

Wine will be the next toilet roll I think.

Eckhart · 15/03/2020 18:38

I've got enough for ages of gruel. But then I like gruel and eat it a lot anyway.

The dog would be disappointed at how fast she ran out of cocktail sausages.

Plantherd · 15/03/2020 18:39

About 2 months if needed. Comfortably maybe 6 weeks.
Always been a person to have extra bits in due to family circumstances and since January been adding in a few items here and there.

However, coffee most likely a month.. And then on to the herbal teas at the back.
Most importantly my DH prescription he has been given 6 months.

Eckhart · 15/03/2020 18:39

Wine will be the next toilet roll I think

Not a sentence you see everyday.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 15/03/2020 18:40

Depends... Will you let DH back into the country? (Disclaimer- he's abroad on Government business, not a holiday or private business, and will count as essential worker)

Without DH- 2 weeks without effort, 3 weeks reasonably easy, 4 weeks with careful planning. But DDs carrots will need careful rationing as I haven't bought any since Monday.

With DH- food will need to stretch a lot further.

Whatisthisfuckery · 15/03/2020 18:46

10 days, 14 with careful planning.

RhymingRabbit3 · 15/03/2020 18:51

I've been batch cooking in preparation for new baby so we have lots of easy nutritious meals in the freezer - at least 2 weeks worth. Plus enough cereal and UHT milk for breakfasts and soup, bread and cheese/beans on toast for lunch.

After that we would be using up stuff from the cupboards so probably lots of tuna pasta bake, rice dishes with frozen veg and random combinations of things, but definitely enough to live off for a further 2 to 3 weeks.

In terms of toiletries, washing powder etc. I tend to buy in bulk so no chance of running out of that any time soon. Nappies and wipes may be a different story but we have reusable ones too.

ScrapThatThen · 15/03/2020 18:59

I have a bag of polenta that based on past experience could feed the 5000.

PickledLilly · 15/03/2020 19:01

We’d run out of food long before the wine ran out. I reckon by the time people’s kids are driving them up the walk, they will happily exchange food for a random bottle of cheap French plonk so will be ok Grin

SnoozyLou · 15/03/2020 19:04

I'm going to guess there'd be a lot of people eating toilet rolls a week from now.

GOOD!

PhantomErik · 15/03/2020 19:06

About a month with our food, maybe 2 weeks of soya milk. Would run out of wet cat food in 3 weeks but have lots of dry. Dogs would be fine for about 6 weeks.

No alcohol in but don't really drink anyway. I'd be more upset to run out of soya milk Sad people are buying it as the uht dairy milk has been sold out - so annoying!

Bought a new pack of printer paper for printing resources off the internet & just to use as drawing paper.

All 3 dc have lots of unused craft sets so would be good to use them all up!

Lots of toiletries, washing powder etc

Aliceinwanderland · 15/03/2020 19:11

Probably about a month. But that would mean rationing and some very, very creative meals. I have a jar of Ikea herrings in the back of the fridge that have been there a year and have about another 6 months to the best before date. They would really be for emergencies.

Gadgnkk · 15/03/2020 19:25

Not longer than 1-2 weeks
