Self isolation support thread

Apologies if a thread on this has already been started. Had a look but cant see anything glaringly obvious.

Thought I would start a self isolation support thread to stop those in isolation from going stir crazy.

I am on day 1 of self isolation. I have had mild manageable symptoms of various things slowly creeping up on me all week. But last night my temp reached high numbers and I'm now coughing have consulted work and I must stay away for 7 days. Kids wont be at school either as they have told me to keep them home. They both have mild coughs and I was struggling to get my head around the logistics of getting them to school.

I have found the whole week very strange. Not knowing when I need to panic. I suffer with chest infections when I get run down anyway so the symptoms are all similar. Have also had full blown flu a few times and again the symptoms are similar. Everything feels too vague, no one knows anything for sure and I feel like it's such a weird time to be living in.

Please post here if you are self isolating to keep me company. I'm really gonna miss work as I work with the the most fantastic people! No doubt the kids are gonna drive me crackers too as whilst they are pleased they get a week off school they have realised they will be missing all their extra clubs etc.

Morning all!
Day 7 has arrived. I finally managed to fall asleep at around 5.30am which made it a whole 24 hours I'd been awake wittering. Only to be woken up by a work email 2 hours later😏
I was torn between sleeping through it, but the thought of work keeps me grounded right now and there are some decisions that need to be made, which makes me feel less useless.
At the moment I feel ok, no headache but cold and shivery.
Last night I heard DP coughing (he's in another room because of a silly argument - but that's another MN thread all together) which explains the recommendations of whole family isolation for 14 days.
Hope you're all feeling ok today x

Morning!

I'm expecting a Tesco delivery in the next 40 minutes...

Think it'll arrive?

ShrimpyTheGnome · 19/03/2020 08:24

but ugh...the last thing you need is conflict when you're stuck in the house! Want to rant?

I have to admit to giving my kids unlimited screen time to keep them occupied.

JustUrggghhhh · 19/03/2020 08:27

Shit scared here too but please dont tell the kids. Have woken up with the infamous headache. The cough is reducing as it didnt wake me up in the night but is still there. Plus the strange candy floss feeling in my lungs. I feel flat, drained and any enthusiasm has left the building!

No judgement here if you go off topic. I just appreciate that everyone is being nice, sensible and supportive. I miss my work colleagues like crazy as they keep me going through the roughest of times...... well until now as I wont see them for possibly ages now! It's just bizarre, life has got bizarre!

Just the headache sucks...expect to feel a little out of it. We got you.

JustUrggghhhh · 19/03/2020 08:30

First day if homeschooling here today too. We haven't been collectively well enough to attempt it. School are slowly adding things to google classrooms at the mo so will print of other resources whilst we wait for them to catch up. Really feel for the teachers and heads right now in these unprecedented times.

They sent me chicken and vegetable soup in a can last time, instead of the vegan vegetable soup in a pot I ordered. 😂

Hello All

I keep reading about the supermarkets opening early for the vulnerable. I know there are a few of you on this thread. Do they really just mean the elderly? How will they know about anyone else? It's a great idea but they haven't thought it through.

We aren't hearing about food shortages form France or Italy but they are different countries with different shopping habits , I suspect.

I have enough to scrabble out in the freezer for the meantime, I guess!

Oh, and ladies, get some sanpro asap if you can!! It's not like we'll be able to use emergency loo roll to stem the flow.

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 19/03/2020 09:04

Morning all. I’m day 3 now, chest still feels like I’m wearing a binder and I’m struggling to get a deep enough breath. My son in law is picking up a prescription from the chemist and leaving it on the flat stairs tonight. I didn’t want to ask him to but the chemist can’t deliver and it’s my youngest DD’s Sertraline which has been in order for 2 weeks now.
I’m sitting in my living room window looking down at the town and it’s already busy. Greggs is doing a roaring trade.

Piggywaspushed · 19/03/2020 09:05

shrimp we are all on tenterhooks to know what you get!!

ShrimpyTheGnome · 19/03/2020 09:18

It wasn't too bad!!!

They swapped out some of my own brand items for branded things. The only thing that was an issue was my Alpro milk- they sent Koko instead. This may not sound like a big deal- but I'm OTS, and it's actually enough to cause a meltdown.

But...we have food! I've had my moment, I've listed Christmas number ones in my head to ground myself...and we have two packs of 9 loo rolls! So my head may be wired all wrong, but my butt is clean! 😂

@Smilethoyourheartisbreaking, I'll see your half farthing and raise you a penny. 7 subs and 5 no show!
@ShrimpyTheGnome. Thanx for the offer of a vent, but I'm hoping today I can get off my asthmatic high horse and put it behind us.
It won't be easy because he never apologises - I think he's allergic to it - think Superman and kryptonite, and that usually makes me dig my heels in even harder
But to be honest, I miss having him on my side right now.

Think DS1 has it, the cough started yesterday afternoon and then he got a low fever and headache around bedtime. Woke up still with a low fever and headache but managed to get him to eat some banana and take calpol. He's fine though, we're playing trains.

Just hoping 7 week old DS2 doesn't get it!

JustUrggghhhh · 19/03/2020 09:57

Just updated my shopping that will be collected later on. Reminded on here to order sanpro - thanks guys. My sanpro looks like it will arrive along with 2 boxes of paracetamol but bread, milk, potatoes and cereal looks like it wont arrive. It's fine though as we have toilet paper and now sanpro and paracetamol so I guess we will be fine Confused

Dilemma of the day - do I bother getting dressed today. Lived in Pjs and dressing gown since last Thursday (put clean ones on obviously before I get pounced on by the germ police). Just not feeling my usual Jean's and a top whilst feeling tight and restricted in myself of that makes any sense. I only have leggings as an alternative and my body is definitely still in (fat) winter mode?!?!

I'm trying to change into joggers and a top instead of nightshirt and pj bottoms most days, didn't work yesterday as I felt so rubbish. Also trying to shower occasionally, I seem to feel best in the morning then go downhill as the day goes on then a bit better in the evening, perhaps due to enforced resting in the afternoon.

Really hoping in a way this is CV because if its normal flu and I am likely to end up getting CV also then I will be totally pissed off!
