Self isolation support thread

Apologies if a thread on this has already been started. Had a look but cant see anything glaringly obvious.

Thought I would start a self isolation support thread to stop those in isolation from going stir crazy.

I am on day 1 of self isolation. I have had mild manageable symptoms of various things slowly creeping up on me all week. But last night my temp reached high numbers and I'm now coughing have consulted work and I must stay away for 7 days. Kids wont be at school either as they have told me to keep them home. They both have mild coughs and I was struggling to get my head around the logistics of getting them to school.

I have found the whole week very strange. Not knowing when I need to panic. I suffer with chest infections when I get run down anyway so the symptoms are all similar. Have also had full blown flu a few times and again the symptoms are similar. Everything feels too vague, no one knows anything for sure and I feel like it's such a weird time to be living in.

Please post here if you are self isolating to keep me company. I'm really gonna miss work as I work with the the most fantastic people! No doubt the kids are gonna drive me crackers too as whilst they are pleased they get a week off school they have realised they will be missing all their extra clubs etc.

I’m now day 17. I finished my course of antibiotics yesterday, my chest is definitely easier and I’m not struggling to breathe while I’m resting now. But standing washing a few dishes has me gasping again, I tried to load the washing machine this morning and nearly collapsed with the pain, my muscles hurt and I’m dizzy just bimbling around the flat.
Hope everyone is feeling better soon Flowers
Has anyone else lost their appetite?

What do you do if you have to share bathroom facilities, my dd has been using our downstairs toilet as DS has main bathroom but i dont want her to share the one DS is using incase she hasnt got and i need to use downstairs toilet.

We only have one bathroom @NK. There’s only me and DD2, we’ve just been cleaning everything down every time we’ve used it. We’re keeping the windows open all the time as well so we’ve always got a steady flow of air through the flat.

Wondering if I’m am not doing enough. Family of 6 in small house. We share 2 bathrooms. I have just assumed we will all get it as confined to house together so not much point in taking extra extra measures to avoid transmission as I feel terrible as it is. Am I doing the right thing?

GenuineKlatchianPottery no appetite here right since the start. I’ve lost nearly a stone in 4 weeks and am now borderline underweight. I look too thin. I’ve had weight issues in the past and am desperate that nothing triggers me off down that route again. I’m trying so hard to eat but I’m forcing every mouthful down. Luckily I have some nutritional shakes prescribed to me (dietician almost removed them when I saw her in Feb but thank goodness I said keep them on just in case) so I’m managing one or two of those a day on top of my pathetic tiny meals. Everything makes me feel a bit sick.

Feeling suddenly awful again and after much being given the run around (not literally, can barely get out of bed!) have antibiotics in case it’s a secondary bacterial infection. Chest hurts and temperature is climbing this evening. Can barely watch TV as it’s too much hard work. Day 24; it’s ridiculous. I am close to just breaking down and sobbing but I don’t have the energy.

Reading the support threads I’m one of many scared people on here. Sad

We only have one bathroom and I’m not convinced you can avoid catching it when it’s in the house. Quarantined DH in a different room from before his first cough as he was a high risk job for contact and I cleaned everything to an inch of its life including the bathroom every single use and left his food outside the door. I still caught it off him.

He has only had a cough throughout. I think that, and the government harping on about how it was a mild illness for most, led me into a false sense of security, but even then, I’m not sure I could have done more.

I think you are right musicposy and if it is in house it is difficult to avoid it, i keep cleaning, opening windows and stressing whether i should have done more as teen dd is feeling tired and doesnt look brilliant now, 3 days after ds became unwell. Sorry to hear that you are still feeling so rough.

Hey just found this thread I had to self isolate for two weeks as I'd had a fever then social distance (before they introduced it formally) due to being pregnant and diabetic. I found out I'd had a missed miscarriage and have recovered now but have been struggling with mood a little - anxiety but it's settling now I'm a key worker and I go back to work on Monday. Still don't know if my fever was coronavirus I was very tired and exhausted cough wasn't really there I wasn't tested at the time of my fever but had another fever which might have been due to the miscarriage potential infection and they tested me for the second fever which was negative
