Travelling, making other decisions around
exposure

read up, noone can decide for you, but be aware...
Your mode of transport (train/boat/plane) is unlikely to be disinfected.
You may not be welcome back at work (forced isolation unpaid because you decided to take risk)
Getting stuck in quarantine in another country, subjected to their health service and govt restrictions on you.
What happens with your dc and school upon return.
Holiday insurance cover?

Positive ways of coping

Exercise daily, out where you won't be in close proximity (greater than 2 metres)

Eat well, healthy foods, plenty of liquid

Include natural antivirals in diet and good levels of daily vit c, vit d

Rest

Take steps to address any raised anxiety, above what might be reasonable and normal steps for keeping viral hygiene under control.
Its normal to feel more anxious, and normal to take steps to manage situation by being well prepared.

Isolation Issues

Getting sufficient shopping in on low incomes, and/or vulnerable / already isolated

Keeping on top of KEY METERS - need to top up yet in isolation - what measures are there to help

Paying mortgage/rent (private & housing associations) if not receiving sick pay

Legislation that enforced isolation = sick (for sick pay purposes)

Primary mode of transmission is airborne droplets.

Sneeze or cough into elbow (or tissue and bin it). Droplets can travel 2m.

Secondary means of transmission touch.

Hand wash to
Break the transmission cycle from hand to mouth, eyes, nose, or to others, by 20 seconds plus thorough hand washing (soap and water).

Alcohol breaks down the outer layer of virus to effectively kill, other methods may not.
(Anti bacterial does NOT do this and overuse may risk bacterial resistance).

Use 70% vol alcohol to any other additive

@neepandtatties I guess with lap dancing you have no choice but to be in close contact with people. You are going to be at risk. I would enforce ensuring people are washing their hands before you dance on them. Face masks if you're that worried. If you pole dance perhaps wiping the pole with a wipe before you dance on it?

The government is throwing billions of pounds at the problem so they must be expecting it to get pretty bad.

Thank you for the sensible answer spencer . I could just not work, It's second income and I'm not desperate. Luckily most of my customers are regulars who I know to be hygienic people but, the clubs not going to be the cleanest place is it and they may wash their hands but then touch the bar, banister, money etc... I'll wipe the pole that's not a problem, I do that anyway just wondered what peopl felt the risk would be for me, is it any different to going to the pub or a social event? Does the fact I'm wearing very little put me at more risk?

Interesting info from a U.K. ICU doctor on this AMA Reddit thread. American doctor asks if they’re starting to see signs of a surge:

“Are you guys starting to feel the heat and in what way? Just gathering info because we will cancel elective procedures to open up beds and units if the surge is to be expected. We have prepared more in 5 days than we have in 6 weeks.”

“Absolutely. In a little over a week our (national) critical care occupancy for COVID has increased from 1 to ~20. There are a number of patients now on ECMO.

Perhaps more worryingly, we have positive tests in a number of inpatients, on open wards, across different sites, with no travel history.
A significant number of new diagnoses are patients presenting to the emergency department with hypoxaemia, fever, lymphopaenia, bilateral CXR infiltrates. This wasn't happening a week ago.

Trusts are putting plans in place to cancel elective procedures and escalation plans for ICU capacity, but these are all local, hospital plans.”

Just had a call from the GP receptionist. All appointments for the next 4 weeks will be telephone only.

SistemaAddict · 11/03/2020 13:10

Are they still announcing new cases around 2pm? With a statement from Twatcock at 7pm?

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 11/03/2020 13:12

@L1appelDuVide re: schools staying open, yep that's correct that's the phe advise. We have a confirmed case in the school I work in. Student was in last week but then diagnosed over the weekend. As they weren't displaying any symptoms whilst in school then there is no risk to anyone else and therefore we remain business as usual. Not even shutting for a deep clean.
I would love to know who is advising phe as it is completely contrary to everything the WHO advise. Why has anyone come back and gone straight into quarantine if they are non infectious until symptoms?

onalongsabbatical · 11/03/2020 13:13

@Neepandtatties I would have thought it was the close contact that makes you more at risk than the lack of clothes, because it's a virus that you either breathe in or transfer to your airways via touching your face. I'm not an expert, that's just my evaluation. If you can take some time off, I would.
It's probably not that different to a pub or gathering but people are going to be social-distancing from/at them now.

SistemaAddict · 11/03/2020 13:14

I wonder if I'm future we will see more WFH and less air travel for business meetings? It's nice to see less cars in the road and that can only be a good thing for the environment. With modern technology there's just no need for all these business meetings abroad. Waste of money, time and resources when it could be done by phone or Skype.

Rocketmam · 11/03/2020 13:14

As they weren't displaying any symptoms whilst in school then there is no risk to anyone else

This isn't true.

People are infectious before they have symptoms aren't they? What bullshite are PHE peddling?

Lumene · 11/03/2020 13:15

As they weren't displaying any symptoms whilst in school then there is no risk to anyone else and therefore we remain business as usual.

Is this correct? Does anyone have any links to any credible sources that give an answer either way?
