So surely now is the moment for the UK to shut down?

All the info I have read online indicates that the UK is probably 2 weeks behind Italy in terms of infection. So rather than wait until the horse has proverbially bolted, wouldn’t it make more sense to shut down now and stop a massive spread of coronavirus?

I think people need to think a little for themselves to decide for themselves how they move forward to keep their family safe not just waiting to be told what the experts say.
Personally I think by the time the experts reach a conclusion it will be too little too late.

Those saying it is just flu are not wrong. The worrying thing about this disease though is that it is flu that seems to have an ability for a lot of people to turn into pneumonia.

Whilst you can recover from pneumonia with treatment it does have long term effects even for young normally healthy people.

If you have pneumonia once unlike flu and colds that give you some immunity of getting that type of flu and cold again. From my understanding getting pneumonia actually increases your chances of getting pneumonia again.

What you are all perhaps missing is that we have all individually been asked to take responsibility and do the thing that will actually have the biggest effect to slow this horrible virus down. We have been asked to SELF ISOLATE FOR 7 DAYS IF WE HAVE A FEVER OF 37.8 OR OVER OR A NEW COUGH. That is a humungous thing. Not it may not sound as ‘sexy’ or headline capturing as stopping mass gatherings (which will happen) or closing schools (which will happen), buuuuut it will have a bigger effect at the stage we are at. It also has the benefit of having less disruption - so it is a win win. We now must take individual responsibility to do this. The other more draconian (but less effective) measures will come in due course. But when they come, they will be with us for a looooooooong time. So don’t wish for something prematurely. For now take your individual responsibility and SELF ISOLATE FOR 7 DAYS IF YOU HAVE A COUGH OR FEVER. Again it doesn’t sound as obvious or as sexy as big shut downs. Same way ‘wash your hands’ doesn’t. But doing this self isolation and washing hands shock horror has the biggest effect. Counter intuitive. But correct. So please let’s stop whining and protect each other. Thank you.
