As far as I know Amazon si still delivering but I don't know if they will keep doing so. One of DS' birthday presents is due to arrive between 21 and 24 March.

I need to go to the shops, I've got a really long list now but don't have a car until Saturday. I could go to Día on foot but it's more expensive than Mercadona and doesn't have a lot of what I want.

I was hoping to hang on until DH is off on Saturday, when I'll have the car.

BirdandSparrow · 16/03/2020 14:50

Has anyone been in a Mercadona or similar since lockdown? Are there fewer products/limits on entry/different opening hours?

PotsOfPebbles · 16/03/2020 14:52

Just called them because 30 minutes late. They have cancelled the delivery.

PotsOfPebbles · 16/03/2020 14:56

Website is down
Servicio online cerrado por circunstancias excepcionales.

Had to phone them.

PotsOfPebbles · 16/03/2020 15:13

I don't really want to bulk buy eggs or fresh food, thinking about others who cannot afford more than their usual weekly shop.

That won't really work though, because chances are the person behind you will buy it if you don't.
It would be nice if that worked, but having seen the empty shelves in supermarkets that's not how people are thinking.

BillieEilish · 16/03/2020 15:14

Has anyone been to Mercadona?

I don't have a car I have to take DD with me.

BirdandSparrow · 16/03/2020 15:40

So many people on so many threads thinking they're somehow a special case.....

BillieEilish · 16/03/2020 15:47

I know. Saying it's bad for mental health... oh really? We're just loving it Grin

PotsOfPebbles · 16/03/2020 15:54

I know what you mean. Yesterday we had conversations with both MIL and my parents back in the UK. They are all over 70.
MIL smirked at the suggestion of getting some essential in and that she might be isolated for 4 months.
My Dad didn't take us seriously at first. DH spoke to him quite seriously, my 94 year old grandmother lives next door to them and they look after her. We had to be quite blunt and to the point.
He seems to have listened though, he messaged me a few hours ago and said he had been out first thing, got good stocks of things and wiped everything down with a hot soapy before putting it in theirs and my grandmothers cupboards.

PotsOfPebbles · 16/03/2020 15:55

*wiped everything down with a hot soapy cloth

Nameisthegame · 16/03/2020 15:57

People arnt really stocking up on fresh goods here because they don’t keep I guess. Barely any Coke Zero bitch my corner shops are fully stocked but no bananas but that has been pretty difficult to get anyway.

Does anyone know if the Correo is open? There’s a few missed packages I need to get for work

@PotsOfPebbles atleast they are getting serious! I’ve been warning my U.K. friends with kids to prep. Toddlers can be so fussy!

I’m sure if your kids too young to be alone you can take them...otherwise what are people with with no or absent partners going to do.

@elQuintoConyo what kind of fort did you make? Did he bump his head on a chair? My danger fort is holding up except she keeps throwing hard toys on it.

PotsOfPebbles · 16/03/2020 16:04

A lot of it depends on if you have good freezer space I guess.

happymoneysaver.com/can-you-freeze-eggs/

Sorry, no idea about correos. Give them a call, they are usually open until 8.

Yes, I felt so relieved when he sent that message. Now we just have to convince MIL.

Nameisthegame · 16/03/2020 16:06

Hello, Mallorca calling, rubbish weather today, no sitting outside sunbathing. Yesterday morning there were many people disobeying the new rules, or unaware it started early and police speaking to them. Today we can see builders working, council staff moving seaweed off the beach etc
Dh has been to the supermarket on foot ( we have a reasonable amount of food) he said it was quiet, and no shortages. We're hoping to return Monday. But maybe not, depends on Ryanair. Dh only got here Saturday night, happy he did as it would be a bit lonely on my own. Haven't read the whole thread but hope everyone is ok x

PotsOfPebbles · 16/03/2020 16:15

We use oatmilk anyway and stocked up on loads a few weeks ago when it was on offer.

I make a lot of oat fingers, packet of oats, a couple of bananas, some sultanas, some cocoa powder... You can put whatever in them. Put in a baking paper lined tray and cook through. When it's cooled cut into fingers.
My DC love them. We always have some on the go. Freeze well too.

PotsOfPebbles · 16/03/2020 16:16

It was Consum that cancelled our delivery earlier. Their website isn't taking orders and the lady on the phone said a lot of orders were being cancelled.

BillieEilish · 16/03/2020 16:19

Thanks everyone x Any updates on supermarkets welcome.

I agree, surely I'm allowed to take an 11 year old? Am lone parent, DH lives completely separately. No car.

Anyway, as me and DD decided, it's going to be better once we have done it the first time. It will be the new normal for a while methinks.

Raining in Valencia province. There is absolutely nobody out and about.

BillieEilish · 16/03/2020 16:20

Is Consum open as normal?

BirdandSparrow · 16/03/2020 16:21

The idea is to not take kids IF possible. I saw a thing about supermarkets opening I'll see if I can find it.
