Have the dating sites noticed a drop in members i wonder.

usernameishistory · 08/03/2020 00:38

Optician is pretty close up and personal without any protection!

Dentist fully clinically sterile though.

Is my view FWIW.

Re risk assessments that's a good point. There must be some legal trigger somewhere parents can use.

Jumpingintotheabyss · 08/03/2020 00:42

I'm tempted to try and get my eyebrows done. If she's still taking appt.
She wears a mask! But leans in v close.

Totally 1st world problem I know

usernameishistory · 08/03/2020 00:43

Good news, and reassuring @tobermoryisthebestwomble

Thank you

I can't stay 1 meter away I'm in an educational setting and classrooms are often cramped, halls, lunch rooms, lunch queues. It's these pressure points where are dc are at risk.
Older dd already calls these queues the nit line, so close nits can happily crawl from head to head etc..

HeIenaDove · 08/03/2020 00:46

@Jumpingintotheabyss I have a hair appointment coming up and a chin wax and will still attend them all being well.

I doubt we are going to see loads of men with 1970s style shoulder length hair in three to four months time as im willing to bet they will still go to the barbers Smile

ofwarren · 08/03/2020 00:46

Passengers have reportedly been kept waiting for hours to board the Royal Princess cruise in Los Angeles. This report says decision soon to come about its "seaworthiness."

Why on earth would you want to go on a cruise right now?

Plantherd · 08/03/2020 00:46

Threads have moved very quickly!

Thank you for the replies to my previous questions.

I was thinking about the three wise men protocol. If beds do reach absolute max capacity for ICU and someone comes in who is younger/possibly more likely to survive, would they take someone off ventilation who perhaps is older/less likely to survive to provide space for them?

Or is it only used when critical patients arrive at the same time and its decided who gets treatment when there is a shortage?

HeIenaDove · 08/03/2020 00:49

@ofwarren They must be out of their fucking minds.

Awkward1 · 08/03/2020 00:49

My do can't be convinced. He said he won't let me keep dc off school. But I will.
As I say this wait for 3w will be anxious already.
And I still need to get some deliveries of stuff and go get some asthma meds
Hugely ducked up as even keeping us all in May not work and end up getting it when it's at peak!

It is so contagious I don't really think they should be using normal hospitals.
Ideally now presume all pneumonia and breathing difficulties is covid and isolate.

I understand they want it overvwith by winter but
1 it won't be if other countries manage to do differently.
At 10% rate I don't think we would need to worry about winter for well probably a generation.

What will be the deaths rate in africa? 20+%
If we sorted us China and Russia out we could help other countries instead we are all exporting round the world and stopping cruises there!!
Do not many cruises stop at russia?
Venice certainly had them

I suppose the a is will they do a vax if is just burns through it could then die out??
I think the 80% is here immunity
Obviously you become safer once more people have had it which is why they want kids to get it.

It is odd though mn who hate the idea of d&v bugs going less than 48h. And wouldn't do cp parties as it's 'dangerous' !!!

I think the issue is people believe the numbers. Don't understand what it represents. That 206 is what they found but it could be thousands now. If they think peak could be 3w away they think most will either already got it or get it next week...Or 2.

jmcg2015 · 08/03/2020 00:50

If he hasn't been travelling to a problem area, or been in very close contact for a long time with someone who has, he doesn't have it. It's not reached community spreading stage yet, which is where it is being transmitted freely. That's why only those who have it are those who have been abroad or very close to those who have

KenAdams · 08/03/2020 00:53

I agree- the threads are moving astonishingly quickly. Maybe we need to split them up into numbers/updates, quarantine and prepping or something!

I'm astounded at the USA. 1900 tests which is about 37 per state and of those 1900 they have diagnosed 406 meaning 21% are testing positive (in comparison to the UK whose positive rare is about 0.96%). Those numbers are HUGE and I strongly suspect aren't telling us the full picture in the slightest. Reminds me of Iran.

jmcg2015 · 08/03/2020 00:54

Just a quick serious request. Can people not continue to panic buy and stock up? All this means is people who need things can't get them, and there's zero need for it. When those who are doing it run out themselves, they won't be able to restock either. It's a natural panic response but utterly unnecessary and the best advice is to please not do it, you could literally be asking it harder for those who need things most to get them

HeIenaDove · 08/03/2020 00:54

As its now gone midnight...................DH is 70 today.

GPwife2411 · 08/03/2020 00:54

@tobermoryisthebestwomble - thanks, you sound really organised and that itself is calming.

Can't wait for primary care to be properly equipped with resources to try and plan out the next few weeks safely and proportionately; they're currently functioning with 2 hands tied behind their backs (lack of PPE, and 111 bouncing symptomatic patients right back at them) and thus exposed to unacceptable risks.

HeIenaDove · 08/03/2020 00:57

@jmcg2015 i agree There were two antibacterial hand washes left in Boots on Friday I bought one and left the other as i had two others at home. From previous shopping trips I use it all the time as a matter of course.

DH and i have one hand gel each. We have whats needed. The toilet paper panic has fascinated me somewhat.

Awkward1 · 08/03/2020 00:57

Plantherd I wondered that too. As bed blocking by the first ill people.
Also I wouldn't take much comfort from being young medical person. The person who discovered this died as others in China some young. It's the viral load probably.

I wouldn't visit the optician as it can cause conjunctivitis and so they may have seen someone with covid

jmcg2015 · 08/03/2020 00:57

Please for your own sake try to calm down. Your overreacting and making yourself panic. Looking at the numbers, it's really not terribly easy to catch. The numbers as a percentage are very small indeed

GPwife2411 · 08/03/2020 00:57

@jmcg2015 - I'm only speaking for myself but I wouldn't be surprised if people on this thread were similar: I've been stocked up since January so no need to buy very much, just perishables like veg, bread and milk. Just because we are alarmed about CV it does not follow that we are therefore panic buying. I haven't bought toilet roll since August 2019 when I got a digit wrong on an Amazon order and ended up with 25 packs of 12 rolls.

alexdgr8 · 08/03/2020 00:59

i heard on LBC news yesterday that a dentist in Finchley came back from Italy and was seeing / treating patients all day friday before last, got symptons on sunday.
has now been found to be positive for Covid-19.

GPwife2411 · 08/03/2020 01:00

@jmcg2015 - it has started community spread. The 30+ cases in the data where there is no clear source from abroad suggest community spread, in fact they are the literal definition of community spread.

That does not mean we should panic. Prepare, but no need to panic.

Wehttam · 08/03/2020 01:03

tobemory thank you for that, it sounds very reassuring.

My question for you is what will happen once the staff trained in ICU start getting sick which is what has happened in both China and Italy. What is the contingency for this? Closing down the facility or bringing in staff from other hospitals or if the effects are mild do they carry on working?

Thanks again!

Lynatic · 08/03/2020 01:04

Not sure it will go away Awkward. I feel the same about sending my own dc to school. Almost like using them as test rats. I think you're right that things will be picking up by Easter and a lot of schools likely to close around then. I'm expecting a medicine shortage and lack of NHS care available, I don't think it's unreasonable to keep dc off now
