Don't know if this has been posted yet, from the Telegraph. Regional breakdown of the latest 164 cases.

worried about coronavirus (covid19) part 15
confusedandtired99 · 07/03/2020 07:27

That’s not accurate @CrunchyCarrot as I know there are at least two cases in Northamptonshire which have been confirmed... perhaps they come under the ‘unknown’ locations

Alkaloise · 07/03/2020 07:30

Birmingham, too

MissPoldark · 07/03/2020 07:30

Hmmm.. seems to be some counties missing from that map where we know there are confirmed cases (eg Tyne and Wear)

I look at so many people around me just getting on with their lives, booking holidays, planning the future, carrying on as normal and I so wish I could be like them.
I almost can’t stand it anymore.
Anxiety will kill me before this virus does. Sad

middleager · 07/03/2020 07:32

Alka Are there more in Birmingham then than the one reported in the news?

whereareyousleep · 07/03/2020 07:36

3 or 4 confirmed in South Yorkshire and they are not on there either

Nicepud · 07/03/2020 07:38

I've signed up to ww, 1st meeting is Sunday morning and apparently the group is very small.

I hate that instead of just worrying about the diet I'm more worried about potentially exposing myself to more people than necessary.

But my asthma need to be gotten under control and losing weight will help enormously, so it is necessary I feel. I can always reassess and do it from home if shtf.

I almost wish I was more like the GP and not a care in the world, rather than having to think through every decison with a little CV shadow lurking in the back of my mind!

CrunchyCarrot · 07/03/2020 07:38

Ahh okay. I guess there are a lot that fall in the 'Unknown' category.

frumpety · 07/03/2020 07:39

Do we know if they are going to be publishing the results daily or if they are only going to do them Monday to Friday ?

LarkDescending · 07/03/2020 07:42

The New York Times has calculated that the number of cases in Europe has more than doubled in the last 3 days.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 07/03/2020 07:43

Let's not forget that Donald Trump is more wealthy businessman than public servant and probably cares more about his share prices than a few elderly and ill peoples lives. That's probably why he is downplaying it, all other countries he sees panicking and talk of recession and he can't be seen to be taking America into recession. The fact that people are dying is neither here nor there, people die everyday of illnesses, ya know - the flu kills more WinkHmm

WouldShouldCould · 07/03/2020 07:45

@cz123 thanks for that, I was listening to Polish radio to see how they were dealing with it (and I was scared /impressed at how seriously they were taking it) but my Polish is very basic and I couldn't understand about the giant rosary, I knew the presenters found it funny but couldn't work it out.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 07/03/2020 07:45

Kent has 2 confirmed cases, not 1.

MissPoldark · 07/03/2020 07:46

Oh, I wish I hadn’t just looked at the worldometers news:

“ 778 new cases and 49 new deaths in Italy. Total cases: 4,636. Total deaths: 197. Active cases: 3,916.

  • Among the 3,916 active cases, 2,394 (61%) are hospitalized, 462 of which (representing 12% of active cases) are in intensive care.
  • Among the 720 closed cases, 523 (73%) have recovered, 197 (27%) have died.”
😭😭
Cismyfatarse1 · 07/03/2020 07:47

On the positive side, fat elderly men are a high risk category.

Which means Trump.

Sipperskipper · 07/03/2020 07:48

Essex has 2 confirmed cases, not one. One in Harlow, one in Southend.

WouldShouldCould · 07/03/2020 07:48

@furrytoebean I don't think many on this thread understand how precarious lots of business are, and how dependant they are on cash flow. Obviously if employed by the state they worry less but wait until tax revenues start dropping and then see how the government pays everyone.

MyHipsDontLieUnfortunately · 07/03/2020 07:52

She thought the panic was hilarious, and boasted that she'd had everyone and his dog in this week worried about a 'just' a temp and a cough. And CV is just like a cold.

I think your GP should be held to account for her negligent attitude.

forfeksake · 07/03/2020 07:53

My son has a college trip next wednesday to various museums in London.
As I look after my elderly parents, I am wondering whether to cancel the trip and ask if he can just work in college that day.
Am I being over cautious?

AlfieandAnnieRose · 07/03/2020 07:54

@Cismyfatarse😆😆

zen1 · 07/03/2020 07:58

@MissPoldark I am increasingly concerned about the percentage of hospitalised people with the virus in Italy. Those figures do not suggest that “for most people it is a mild-moderate disease”. Those figures indicate that for most people (i.e 61%), it is a disease requiring hospitalisation.

LarkDescending · 07/03/2020 07:59

It looks like Trump is planning to isolate the 3,500 passengers and crew on board the Grand Princess once it has docked at a “non-commercial port”.

In a moment that some commentators have called one of the most “disturbing” and “frightening” remarks of Trump’s response to the public health crisis, the president also said he would prefer that cruise ship passengers exposed to the virus be left aboard so that they don’t add to the number of total infections in the US.

“I like the numbers being where they are,” said Trump, who appeared to be explicitly acknowledging his political concerns about the outbreak: “I don’t need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn’t our fault.”

Interesting but grim reading. Not for the faint hearted.

Banana0pancakes · 07/03/2020 08:03

@zen1 there will be a raft of undetected milder cases to level that down. I'm sure I read a few days ago Italy changed it's criteria for testing which could go someway to explain their cfr and hospitalization rate
