This video from lovely Dr John Campbell, is very informative and in part reassuring he has suggested a lower CFR of 1% based on the figures he is constantly analysing

Jasjas the concern mostly comes from the great unknown, of course the chances of us dying from this are currently very small, but immediate death isn’t it’s niche.

The rates of survival are high but as someone posted earlier, it marks you and so far the news seems to confirm that it can come back. The cured got it again, does that mean recovery takes longer or does it stay in your system. Who knows if it will keep coming back over the months and years, it’s all speculative, remember, it’s novel or new. It could simply disappear if we gain herd immunity against it.

This is why it is different to the flu numbers you mentioned. Plus the flu doesn’t clog up hospital ICUs with large numbers of ‘severe’ infection. They’ve built emergency hospitals in China so fast because they ran out of beds.

NemophilistRebel · 29/02/2020 21:30

Confirmed by Vatican that pope has covid19

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 29/02/2020 21:30

Well we all know that What America says and does is very different. America will always do whatever is best for America regardless of legality or morality whilst portraying a veneer of civility. So there was nothing random about that ladies testing. How they knew we don't.

Sorry if this has been done before in the 7000 comments or so but surely the time is now to act for a two week isolation for everyone because then in two weeks time we will have an idea of who has got it? I mean this is a disaster for most people regards finances but there has to be something more to this virus than is being told to us.

NemophilistRebel · 29/02/2020 21:31

Ignore that, it’s from a showbiz news source so not reliable

Twixes · 29/02/2020 21:32

Good point @Blueberryham, or even one in 30 Sad

WaterSheep · 29/02/2020 21:32

Confirmed by Vatican that pope has covid19

Considering his age and medical history that's not good news. Shock

NemophilistRebel · 29/02/2020 21:34

Not too sure the source is trustworthy yet

NemophilistRebel · 29/02/2020 21:34

I’m sure if it is true Itl be in mainstream news tomorrow

VivaLeBeaver · 29/02/2020 21:34

Twitter have been “confirming” the pope has it all day.....not seen anything on a proper news site yet.

Twixes · 29/02/2020 21:35

@NemophilistRebel oh dear. There were rumours but nothing confirmed. Do you have a link?

Reallybadidea · 29/02/2020 21:36

but as someone posted earlier, it marks you

Erm, it was you that said that. Not sure what you actually meant though.

GorkyMcPorky · 29/02/2020 21:38

@Wehttam 11:03 today This thing marks you.

@Wehttam 21:28ntoday The rates of survival are high but as someone posted earlier, it marks you

You've been ask not to scaremonger many times and now you're disingenuously quoting your own inflammatory language Confused

Wehttam · 29/02/2020 21:40

I said it first but someone posted the Reuter’s report about it being biphaisic. It marks you in the sense that it never leaves you, staying dormant.

uwas · 29/02/2020 21:41

Wehttam · 29/02/2020 21:41

Gorky read that ^^^

Wehttam · 29/02/2020 21:42

I’ll await an apology

mumsneedwine · 29/02/2020 21:44

Symptoms are a fever and tiredness. Only 5% have had the sniffles - WHO info. So Pope probably has a cold. 1000 tested in UK as they have had symptoms but only 23 positive, most of whom are already home. So 9973 people had symptoms but not the virus.

NemophilistRebel · 29/02/2020 21:45

Wehttam · 29/02/2020 21:46

If a statement was issued I’m sure the news would be everywhere by now...

GorkyMcPorky · 29/02/2020 21:47

I’ll await an apology

'Marking' is inflammatory language and you were quoting yourself. We know it can reinfect.

Quartz2208 · 29/02/2020 21:48

CHicken pox stays with you are well though (and affects children far less) and then comes back often affecting the over 60s so its not as unusual and awful as it sounds

www.nst.com.my/world/world/2020/02/570081/concerns-covid-19-reappears-discharged-patients-worldwide

gives a more reassuring view

uwas · 29/02/2020 21:48

Pope site is being widely pointed out on twitter as a fake website.

Snowdropdelight · 29/02/2020 21:50

Those with works colleagues firmly stating its not serious and no worse than flu, do you push back at all?
I'm finding it all a bit like brexit again with people staying quiet when forceful views emerge.
