Ireland - wearing black armbands for a game near October 7th?

So the Irish football team thought it would be some sort of protest to wear black armbands for their recent mat h against Israel and guess what strangely the Israeli team wore black armbands for the victims of the worst terrorist atrocity in their country. So the Irish were left wearing black armbands for victims of the Israeli Gaza conflict but I guess not the victims of October 7th? No wonder the Israeli players were pissed. Ireland then dress and threw the dummy out the pram by saying they shouldn't be playing Israel again......pretty pathetic.

You can also see how for countries like Ireland October 7th is being erased from history as when they went for their black armband protest they probably very stupidly forgot about the proximity of a day of Israeli national mourning.

@Boolabus it’s sad that people resort to ad personam attacks and pasting sympathy flowers on posts

Hope he gave thatt back to Ed plus the other huge losses he occurred when that loser tried to hijack his tour for his own purposes. That was low. They say you can chose your friends.

He’s on tour, Free Palestine tour. It’s sold out straightaway in Ireland and in UK, Wembley too, so you are unlikely to procure a ticket.. “All proceeds from the concerts will benefit the following organizations: Anera, Glia, Gaza Soup Kitchen, Taawon, HEAL Palestine, Palestinian Youth Movement, Middle East Children’s Alliance, Jewish Voice for Peace, Medical Aid for Palestinians. Institute for Middle East Understanding, Palestine Children’s Relief Fund and UNRWA USA.”

Her books are quite good but totally humourless. It’s her support for a terrorist group that’s the problem.

Edited

At least the money is going to good causes . Not to a terrorist group like Palestine Action

Worth a read in what sense? I’m not sure what point you’re making?

Yes - if he’d mocked any other group in that despicable way he’d be hung out to dry by the people who are all desperate to go to his concerts.
It’s like David Baddiel says “Jews don’t count”

'My default is to support the Jewish people after 6 million of them were killed in the Holocaust. That only happened when "ordinary" Germans were taken in to the hatred in the same way the hamas/ iran propaganda campaign has basically achieved it's Oct 7th goal. For Hamas, the more Gazans killed, the better as they can increase anti- Israel propaganda'

Yes it seems so very obvious to many doesn't it. I'd be absolutely horrified if I was ever taken in by hamas and their jihadi pal's propaganda. People wearing keffiyehs and chanting, targeting Jews. It is horrific to witness.

When hamas thank people for 'recognising a palestinian state' the penny should drop that you're on the wrong side.

Absolutely

I think Irish people understand you can support a Palestinian state but not support violence or terrorism as a means to achieve it.

After all, we also had our identity hijacked by a terrorist group. Many people support a united ireland but want it to happen via a peaceful political path.

OpheliaWasntMad · 16/10/2026 11:01

Oh very amusing…
Not quite so funny to read about the police officer whose spine was fractured with a sledgehammer by the terrorist group Rooney supports- Palestine Action .

Palestine Action is a terrorist group . Rooney supports it.

Exactly this, the majority of the irish public were very clear that terrorism, violence and intimidation were not acceptable in achieving a united ireland

Do you not understand they had gaza to themselves from 2006? All Jews removed, many forcefully. Hamas and their jidahi associates were given millions in aid to thrive but they blew it all on weapons and tunnels to fulfill their desires to kill Jews. That is their aim. They don't want a 2 state solution, they want a one state solution without any Jews from the river to the sea.

Don't be taken in by jidahis lies. I'd have thought if anyone lived through Unionist and republican proganda during the troubles they'b be a bit wiser tbh.

Palestine Action is a terrorist group . Rooney supports it.

And? she is an individual not representating the irish public. If her book sales in the UK are anything to go by there are many in the UK that appear happy to support a terrorist organistaion. Her book sales in Ireland are not going towards Palestine Action so Irish people buying them are not supporting this group and tbh lumping them into the same category as the IRA/ Hamas etc is nonsensical.

I know people in the UK support Palestine Action
That doesn’t make it OK
I know her book sales in Ireland are not going to PA.
It’s disappointing to see that so many people are finding it amusing that she supports a proscribed terrorist group that fractured a woman’s spine with a sledgehammer.
I don’t know what you mean about lumping them in the same category as IRA and Hamas? They are all regarded as extremists and terrorist groups . Obviously some terrorists are much more extreme and dangerous.

Far too often anyone Irish was assumed to be pro-IRA by those outside Ireland.
So maybe we are a bit wiser having experienced that?
