Conflict in the Middle East

Is the green party starting to regret it's association with Islamists?

The green party, ostensibly about climate protection and general progressive values seems to have gotten into bed with Islamist sympathisers and the amount of anti semitism and basic hatred of their own country is now obvious.

The green party now at least locally are known as a party that has sympathies towards all manner of Islamist causes including Hamas's objective to wipe Israel of the face of the Earth.

Wouldn't be surprised if they produce a motion declaring climate change a Jewish conspiracy........

@DebbieSavage "But muslims are famously open to different points of view"

Do you actually know many Muslims Debbie? Because they are famously not open to different points of view. Their guidance is drawn from the Quran and the hadiths and if it isn't written in those, it's wrong and non-negotiable.

TBF Debbie has caveated that statement. Muslims are famously openminded - as long as you agree with them on the most contentious issues.

Bridget Phillipson, chair of the ruling Labour Party, described the decision as "shameful," criticizing the party for voting against a two-state solution.

That was brave of her. Maybe Labour are starting to not go to any lengths to get the Islmist vote?

Maybe Zak Polanski has become the ultimate useful idiot? I think he appears as a father inexperienced disingenuous character who may not have grasped the full extent of the Islmaist take over of the party. Anyways their f%&ed.

Honestly, I thought every reasonable person wanted a two state solution.

Must have been naïve.

Two state solution was always for the moderates. A two state solution was always one that long term may have brought peace to the region but it has never been the policy of Islamists that have an ideological desire to remove Israel from the map. I think a lot of new greens (the Israeli flag burning kind) don't believe in any diplomacy. I actually feel sorry for some of the older members who have seen their party hijacked.....(Labour took years to get rid of their anti semite image)

There's another thread I'm in on the Politics board where quite a few posters are saying they have voted Green in the past but will never vote Green again following this vote for a single Palestinian state.

This will tear the Green party apart. And Polanski was too thick to see it coming or apparently do a thing to stop it.

Twiglets1 · 05/10/2026 05:53

Agree with you @mids2019 about it taking years for Labour to shed their antisemitic image, thanks to Corbyn.

They have done that now and were not associated with antisemitism under Starmer. I just hope Burnham can distance Labour from this mess today - he needs to speak out against it too I feel, not just Bridget Phillipson.

I think the greens were a small party so very naively opened their arms to their new Muslim friends when they seemed to bring black votes in inner city areas. I think initially it helped their polling and so there wasn't much pushback.....it's only now that they are seeing the error of their ways. I hope young people especially going women have their eyes opened with this and they can look at the world a little more sensibly.

I hope the Greens are seeing the backlash from this vote in the UK and internationally and realising that maybe, just maybe they have gone too far in allowing activists within the party to tarnish it with their antisemitism.

Green members with integrity who hope for a two state solution in Gaza one day should cancel their Green membership. Will be interesting to see what happens over the next few days.

Ah yes, that'll be about right.

Whereas your contribution has shed immense light on the situation. Without people like you there would be no thoughtful debate. Thank you.

DelphiniumBlue · 05/10/2026 17:35

Let’s not tied up with the definition of genocide. There have clearly been terrible atrocities in Palestine, and the Palestinian people have been suffering for decades with no escape. However, that doesn’t mean that Israel shouldn’t exist. Jews need to have a safe homeland where they can practice their religion ( or not), somewhere from where they cannot be expelled, as has happened to them on numerous occasions throughout the last few millennia. I think the Green Party are wrong to say that Israel shouldn’t exist. I think that is racism of the worst sort.

Really? What propaganda are you referring to?

I'd almost have more respect for Polanski if he'd flat out said he thinks Israel should exist. Instead he's pussyfooting around the issue to appease people who think he's an abomination.

Yes, it's a perfect example of that gallows-humour Jewish joke I've been hearing a lot recently:

A Jewish Zionist and a Jewish anti-Zionist walk into a bar. The barman says: "We don't serve Jews here."

dustabsorber · 05/10/2026 18:12

Surely time for a new Green party. Real Green or True Green

Not a bad idea.
Get the actual environmentalists in that new party and leave the ultra far left racists and Islamists in the original party.

Question - do you ever take a day off?

Quite apart from your complete lack of substance, there's a delicious irony in yours being the first response.

Let the real greens reform the Ecology Party then the new Green could now = Green with envy as they are marxist levelers.

KatiePricesKnickers · 05/10/2026 21:57

The Greens are making an excellent case NOT to introduce Proportional Representation.

mumumental · 05/10/2026 21:57

I think that the Greens have gone too far on this issue , so you really don’t need to smear them OP.
