Conflict in the Middle East

Is the green party starting to regret it's association with Islamists?

mids2019 · 03/10/2026 10:32

The green party, ostensibly about climate protection and general progressive values seems to have gotten into bed with Islamist sympathisers and the amount of anti semitism and basic hatred of their own country is now obvious.

The green party now at least locally are known as a party that has sympathies towards all manner of Islamist causes including Hamas's objective to wipe Israel of the face of the Earth.

Wouldn't be surprised if they produce a motion declaring climate change a Jewish conspiracy........

That's because you're ignoring the fact that Israel is fighting a defensive war against a government that is sworn to destroy it, even though Israel gave them every chance to run as a functioning country by withdrawing completely in 2005, but instead of spending the billions of international aid on making Gaza prosperous, Hamas, the Gazan people's choice, spent it all on digging tunnels under hospitals and schools for the exact purpose of capturing the minds of Useful Idiots when they eventually launched their gleeful murderous attack on women and children in Israel.

And you're ignoring the fact that the IDF takes great pains to try to warn civilians to leave the buildings it's about to bomb, more pains than any other actor in any other conflict in the world, yet this is the only conflict you give your energy to.

And the reason you're ignoring these facts is that you can't afford not to, because you've made such a grave mistake that you can't afford to admit it

(Thanks to @Manhattanman for bringing my attention to this video, which absolutely nails it.)

How were they supposed to make Gaza prosperous when they were under a land, sea and air blockade. The amount of calories to sustain life were calculated in order to keep them hungry but not starving. The policy of regularly mowing the grass was admitted by successive government ministers. The oppressive Hamas government were actually sustained by suitcases of money being secretly delivered at the request of Netanyahu. I really thought that Israeli propaganda would have become more original by now. It is so obvious the global gas lighting tactic of the 20th century just doesn't work in the 21st century. I actually expected more from Israel than to simply embark on a campaign of vilifying Muslims because Palestinians are predominantly Muslims. The world now believe their eyes, not your lies.

Firstly the Islamist issue in the Green isn't what you have been talking about in most your posts. Which in itself is just derailing and whataboutism but people including myself have humoured you somewhat.

Secondly you talk about genocide, ethnosupremacist and various other things but don't like being questioned about these things. It is not whataboutism/distraction to question you on why you believe something or whether you only believe it in regards to one situation. You have literally opened the door to debate by not just being factually but using rhetoric and well worn claims at this point to your own posts. However you won't answer simple questions about the language or rhetoric you use. Frankly it just makes you look like a very bad faith actor rather than someone that is open to an honest debate

Thirdly, so you feel the Green party is being vilified. Do you not believe they may have members that have done something wrong lately? Because a lot of Green party members do.

Finally, personally and I can o ly talk for myself of course. Pals being Muslim and the Islamists in the Green party isn't tbe same thing. There are also moderate muslims in the Green party I imagine. However Hamas are Islamists rather than just moderate muslims so are many of the new Green party members of which I have a problem with. Extremist Islamist ideological thinking has no place in British politics. Yes I do feel the same way about the far right before you ask that.

Funny you mention humoring me. That is actually a sentiment I understand. Your English is fine by the way and I did take the time to actually listen to you.

"Frankly it just makes you look like a very bad faith actor"!

Having resorted to this kind of ad hominem attack and regarding the content of the rest of your post, it is disappointing to say the least. Watching your argument lose its gravity to the point where you have to rely on personal insults just shows you have completely run out of factual points.

Blockade not originally there but because necessary due to ongoing hostile situation. Egypt did the same and has 7 layers of fence now, whereas Israel in places only have a single fence and buther zone. Arguably this has not been enough because of what happened three years ago. Quite frankly I would do the same blockade wise if my kids were in danger. Therefore I really can't see why people argue about it, you know you all would want protection from danger for your kids too. Maybe one day it won't be necessary but 7th October means that day is even further off.

3000 calories a day per person have been delivered to Gaza throughoutthe conflict. Some arrived in advance to build up stocks. This way whenever a stop was put on aid there was always the excess. Whenever this excess was thought to be running out the food aid was restarted until the excess was built up again. Evidence of this being true is very simply found by way of things like the unicef famine results. Gaza population has less famine than most other Middle Eastern countries. There are still some pockets of starvation though, these have been found in Hamas controlled zones. It was always rather obvious to anyone that was not bias the mass famine narrative was fake because of photo evidence that Hamas and supporters used. If a famine is happening why the photos proven to be from other countries or cancer patients or AI. Just use real photos if true, this hardly ever happened because apart from the people who Hamas chose to torture (both Israeli hostages and Gazan political prisoners families) there is no mass starvation. People literally came out into the streets to dance about at various points during the conflict and again no physical signs of food shortages. Plenty of signs of fat middle aged men and women though.

I am sorry but that is the same Israeli propaganda that has been challenged so many times already. Simple solution. Allow in international journalists.

I have not been debating anything factual with you really though have I?

You have been talking about whataboutism and I have been explaining why you are wrong in most instances. Not every instance but most on here from what I have seen. Thank you though for feeling my argument is factually. Must mean you agree with what I am saying so that is great.

Thank you for actually writing a debatable post but also thank you for confirming the accuracy of the quote and its exact context. As you say, by 1947, Ben Gurion believed a state with a large Palestinian minority was unsustainable. You've effectively proven my point. The narrative that Israel would have 'happily absorbed everyone as full citizens' is modern fiction.
Furthermore, noting that a stable 80% majority was secured by 1949 completely glosses over how it was secured. Through the mass displacement of hundreds of thousands of people. Something called the Nakba. I know you chose to ignore it but Deir Yassin?
In a way, I actually respect Ben Gurion's honesty far more than the hypocritic lies we see today. He was unapologetic about the fact his treatment of Palestinians was totally unfair. He openly admitted the reality of what was being done. As he famously told Nahum Goldmann, “Why should the Arabs make peace? If I was an Arab leader I would never make terms with Israel. That is natural. We have taken their country. They only see one thing. We have come here and stolen their country. Why should they accept that?”
Ben Gurion knew exactly what he was doing, and he expected the Palestinians to be furious about it. Trying to rewrite his calculated demographic engineering into a tale of peaceful democratic 'phases' ignores both the history and the words of the man himself. As early as 1937 he had planned to take the whole of Palestine. He explicitly stated that “After the formation of a large army in the wake of the establishment of the state, we will abolish partition and expand to the whole of Palestine.” As I said, I actually admire the man’s honesty but don’t pretend there was ever any intention of sharing the land as the father of Zionism, Theodor Hertzl, envisaged.

Furthermore, noting that a stable 80% majority was secured by 1949 completely glosses over how it was secured.

It’s literally there in my quote: ‘The 1948 war radically altered Israel's demographics due to the flight and expulsion of Palestinian refugees.

I don’t think I’m proving your point. You presented an isolated quote from a single moment in time as Ben-Gurion’s fixed ideology.
My point was to show that this opinion was directly forged by the violent Arab revolts of 1929 and 1936. Before that hostility, he was openly supportive of a shared state for Jews and Palestinians.

As for Deir Yassin, that massacre was carried out by the Irgun and Lehi militias, extremist factions that Ben-Gurion openly condemned, politically fought, and ultimately dissolved by force.

Do a bit more research. When the Irgun and Lehi were struggling against a village armed with nothing more than hunting rifles and farming implements, the Haganah joined in.

I can see the argument for international media but I can also understand the argument for why they are not allowed. I personally have not got a firm opinion on that either way.

On a per capita basis Palestinians have been one of the - if not the - highest recipients of aid in the world. Billions of aid has been given to Gaza. Billions. If Hamas had used that aid to build Gaza it would be a thriving country. Egypt may well have opened its boarder if it looked like there could be a profitable relationship.

You listen to nobody that doesn't suit your chosen narrative. However you should be looking at documents, newspaper articles and interviews both Israeli and Pal plus anything you can find about your chosen topic from the surrounding countries media.

Just listening to one narrative isn't enough in a complicated situation. Just listening to some journalist or often self important expert isn't enough either. Find as many sources as possible that are talking about or holding information you need to make a informed opinion.

An example today of not only listening to one narrative and why Islamists are not wanted by any sain person in their country.

"Today, an Israeli child was killed and several injured when an unexploded Hezbollah cluster munition detonated during a school trip.

Had Palestinian children been killed by Israeli ordnance in Gaza, imagine the BBC news coverage."

If people like the far left and tbe BBC make an excuse for Islamists they will just ignore the situation

I could say to you that perhaps take off your blinkers and look at the possibility that the country you obviously love is, and has been, behaving inhumanely towards what could be, and probably are, according to genetic studies, brothers and sisters. If you can't, Gam dov efshar le'lamed lirkod.

You accuse Israel of propaganda, yet the points you are listing yourself only tell part of the story.

The blockade didn’t start when Israel withdrew in 2005. It was imposed in 2007 after Hamas won the election, launched a violent internal coup against the Palestinian Authority, and began firing thousands of rockets at Israeli civilians.
The restrictions were a direct security response to a hostile terrorist regime taking power.

'Mowing the Grass' was implemented because Hamas refused to stop launching rocket attacks from civilian areas. Since Hamas's founding charter explicitly calls for the total eradication of Israel, a permanent political solution was impossible.
The policy was a defensive measure designed to periodically destroy terror infrastructure and restore quiet for millions of citizens under fire.
