Conflict in the Middle East

Is the green party starting to regret it's association with Islamists?

The green party, ostensibly about climate protection and general progressive values seems to have gotten into bed with Islamist sympathisers and the amount of anti semitism and basic hatred of their own country is now obvious.

The green party now at least locally are known as a party that has sympathies towards all manner of Islamist causes including Hamas's objective to wipe Israel of the face of the Earth.

Wouldn't be surprised if they produce a motion declaring climate change a Jewish conspiracy........

I’m horrified by the above poll.

Though the other side of the coin re that poll is that 79% of young Britons (the demographic most likely to be affected by the current anti Israel rhetoric that has mushroomed on social media) DO still think Israel has the right to exist.

I could go on about Baghdad having a 40% Jewish population comprised of prominent businessmen, doctors, lawyers and government ministers. I could go on about how the persecution of Jews in the Middle East grew directly from the creation of the state of Israel and the subsequent loss in the war. I could go on about Deir Yassin and Givet Shaul living happily as neighbours for decades but I've made these points already. What is the alternative? More endless years of apartheid and oppression of millions of people. Expulsion of an entire population making Israel into even more of an international pariah. This Israel supporting Boomer generation isn't going to last forever. There is an entire generation who currently despise Israel who are going to be the next politicians, law makers and educators. The posters on this thread are trying to make out they are all Islamists. (I get it, encourage Islamophobia in the West in an attempt to degrade sympathy for Muslim Palestinians). They are not. Muslims only make up 6% of the UK population and the vast majority of them are not Islamists. A recent poll showed that 21% of 18 to 24 year olds believe Israel doesn't have a right to even exist. No amount of "re-education" is going to change that if Israel stays on its current path. I honestly believe that, not just for the sake of Palestinians, but for the future of Israel too, Israel has to change its current treatment of the Palestinian population.

If 20% of Israels population is arab they can’t be called an apartheid state. (More arab pharmacists than Jewish ones so they are not blocked in education or employment either)

It doesn’t matter if you don’t like Israel, they clearly don’t need anyones permission to exist. They haven’t had it before and likes on x and idiots wearing keffiyahs and bothering jewish people in the streets isn’t going to make a blind bit of difference. Also this idea that young people will all be as rabid in the future as now is a bit of a mistake, my dad was a communist in uni (got beaten up the police, so he earned his stripes) he ended up thinking Thatcher was right about everything.

All of this has probably just strengthened a lot of Jews conviction that Israel must continue to exist as a safe haven for Jews because they are no longer safe in places like the UK, so well done.

Criticism of islamists is right and proper, they want Britain to be a way I find intolerable. That is not the same as criticising muslims amd I’m not sure conflating the two is helpful to your cause.

Also jews were persecuted BEFORE the state of Israel, it’s the history of their people unfortunately. It’s a bit like people blaming gay people for their own persecution, it doesn’t matter if they do anything or don’t do anything some people want to watch them hang because of what they ARE.

21% of young people isn’t an entire generation.

Squeezingwildoranges · 11/10/2026 11:06

That's 21% who were willing to publicly declare it. It says nothing about how many share that sentiment but answered I don't know. If Israel wants to stick its head in a bucket of sand and continue on its genocidal path, I guess it may one day have to live with the consequences.

Looks to me that the derailer on this thread is rewriting history to suit themselves, rather like they respond to posts as if the post said what they wanted it to say and not according to what the posts have actually said.

There’s a word for this. Two words, actually.

Gaslighting.
Dishonesty.

Do you believe deliberately not comprehending or really has bad comprehension? I sometimes think the first but then see a post that makes me wonder about the second.

That disingenuous straw man poster is back. Surely nobody could be so ignorant of the number of Palestinian Arabs who live in Israel and speak highly of it, vs the massacre that would occur if the situation were reversed?

Edited

From what I have seen the moment someone states something deeper on a subject or replies with something that isn't covered by the pro pal handbook the subject is changed. This suggests little knowledge outside of propaganda sources.

I quite like a good debate with a pro pal it can be mutually beneficial but pointless and annoying if the topic or line of conversation is switching about all over the place.

Quite frankly like with all polls it depends where the people took the polls. Plus student age groups have always traditionally been social warriors because that is hormones talking. People tend to become more logically and factually with age. At the moment pro pal stuff is still a trend for a large percentage of young people just like pro trans stuff. That is all a poll like this shows.

I know that. Young people aren't representative of the whole population and I don't know much about this poll. Shouldn't have got drawn in really.

Just seen this written about the French Education protests/riots. They just had to get Israel in there somewhere didn't they, the obsession is mental.

We all get draw in occasionally. Coming from a psychology background I do know a reasonable amount amount research and surveys so that helps me a little. Surveys can be really fixed to show the outcome the person doing the research whats unless certain guidelines are followed and even if they follow them the number of people involved and the areas/locations that the survey was taken can mean they are not a true representation of the general public. Once you add to that other factors you like how the question was worded you can easily see how not all polls are equal in reliability.

Plus as I have said young people are inclined by nature to want a cause no matter what that cause is at the time. As they get older they mostly grow out of this and become more rounded in their views

What do you mean by 'conflating anti-Zionism with Islamism'?
Do you think anti-Zionism is acceptable as long as it isn't linked to Islamism?
Because all Zionism is, is the belief in the right of self-determination for Jewish people in their ancestral homeland

No, that’s not all Zionism is, from its earliest inception removal of the local population was always part of the plan.

As do the Arab nations and Islamic fundamentalists. They need to change their treatment of Palestinians. They do not have Palestinian interests at heart. Instead they foment anger and actively work against peace. Iran and Hamas being perfect examples of this.

For many years Israel and Jordan lived in de facto peace, but Jordan could not actually make peace for fear of the reaction of the other Arab nations. Sadat was assassinated for making peace between Egypt and Israel.

Former Green leader Caroline Lucas has admitted the huge problem with entryism, the dual headed nature of the problem is clear:

She writes:

"With over 1000 councillors and more than 220,000 members, as heatwaves follow floods, we’re a major part of our nation’s political landscape – and our influence is increasingly being felt.

But many of those councillors - including in Haringey where I live - these councillors ARE the entryists. They don’t give a stuff about the environment but pursuing their hard left agenda which includes Jew hatred."

Good woman calling the problem what it is.

Who care what that toothless talking shop says ?
The United Nations is not a global government. States remain sovereign and retain their own domestic legal systems.

My heart leaped when I read that, but alas... only the first paragraph is attributable to Lucas, the second is added commentary by a Nicole Lampert.

I saw a green MP on local politics this morning and opposition MPs were actually congratulating her for daring to come out in public. Obviously the green deplores the passage of the notion but it doesn't really help as it is now policy. The green party now has as policy the destruction of Israel and unless you leave the green party you cannot do much to change this. Absolute disaster for the greens but they should have looked at their entry policies a long time ago and foreseen this. It wasn't exactly unexpected.
