Doesn’t really look like anyone believes that Donald is going to come out of his stupid war with any kind of better deal.

Israel bombed Lebanon again and now Iran has suspended the talks due in Switzerland today, and not just that, they are suspending the entire 60 day process.

https://bsky.app/profile/mcbridetd.bsky.social/post/3mommcbw6ek2n

Well they said they would if Israel didn’t stop bombing
Continuing to do so means Israel get what they want
More war, more land and no agreement

so
What’s Trump going to do to get Israel to comply ?

Surprising thing for Iran to do if the deal was such a huge win for them as has been suggested on this board.

Iran could just stop funding Hezbollah. Then there would be no one for Israel to fight in Lebanon.

JadeHare · 19/06/2026 13:17

It’s not just on this thread. It’s all over the AP, or have you seen something else to suggest that this is a better deal for the US than they had before?

Anyway, in the Independent:

“It was in his final question of the afternoon that Vance suddenly and unexpectedly became laser-focused. Asked about Netanyahu and whether Israel is happy with the deal or will stick to it, he launched into a surprisingly severe criticism of the Israeli government.
“What I will say — and this does bother me,” he said, is that people close to Netanyahu have been attacking the deal publicly. Staring into the camera, he then suddenly addressed Israel directly: “Donald J. Trump” — Vance always likes to wheel out the middle initial when he’s getting righteous — “is the only head of state in the entire world who is sympathetic to the state of Israel at this moment in time,” he said. Israel should consider, he added, that “two-thirds of the defensive weapons that have protected your homeland have been built by American hands and paid for by American taxpayers.”
Israeli politicians should “wake up and smell the reality of the situation that that country is in,” he concluded, before abruptly ending the press conference. He’d clearly been waiting for the opportunity to say it, and hoping to be able to make a dramatic exit while talking on the issue. It gave his ”

JD Vance came out to defend Trump’s Iran deal. It got weird — The Independent

The vice president couldn’t say whether or when his trip to Switzerland might happen, joked awkwardly about his book promotion and The View — and rounded off with an unexpectedly threatening rant about Israel, writes Holly Baxter

Not surprising at all. Netenyahu broke the terms of the MOU, did you think Iran weren't going to notice or respond?

They don't want to do this though.

If Iran stopped funding Hezbollah, The Houthis and Hamas then life would improve for millions of people. I dont think they want life to improve for those people at all.

Netanyahu wasn’t involved in the MoU. Maybe he should have been since last time I looked Israel & the US are two separate countries.

Hezbollah didn’t stop attacks and neither did Israel. But Hezbollah can presumably be controlled by Iran whereas Netanyahu can’t be controlled by Trump in the same way.

My point was - if Iran thought the deal was that amazing for them they could stop the fighting in Lebanon by calling off their terrorist allies Hezbollah.

Evidently not because that would mean no one was attacking Israel.

Re Israel and Hezbollah.

The "proxy" word is thrown about a lot. And there seems to be an assumption that they are 100% funded, organised, and ordered by Iran.

Nah, it's not 100% Iran. And I have no idea what % it is. 10%, 40%, 80%... no idea, but it is certainly not 100%. Because if it was 100% they would be a mercenary force, not a proxy.

Iran could cut whatever % it is tomorrow. But the next day, Hezbollah will still be there. With the same cause. But now it's 2 causes. As in, get Israel out of Lebanon too.

So for anyone saying "but Hezbollah", how about a really radical idea. How about the IDF get back inside their own borders, and see what happens ?

Well what would happen is what happened before they entered Lebanon, Hezbollah would just merrily lob their missiles into Israel.

Both the IDF and the various terrorist groups all need to stop, everyone together.

Yawn. We all know Hezbollah are funded by Iran and they are funded to keep attacking Israel. Same with Hamas.

You may think that’s ok for Israel to have to put up with being attacked by terrorist groups, I don’t.

Neither do most world leaders which is a main reason why they only condemn with words not actions when Israel fight back, wars erupt and civilians get hurt. I know some people are confused by the lack of action taken by Western leaders.

At least 18 people dead, 33 injured and several buildings hit in the latest bombing.

Twiglets1 · 19/06/2026 13:55

From the BBC:

Both Israel and Hezbollah have carried out strikes against each other since the agreement was announced, raising questions about the future of the truce between the US and Iran.

Israel has said it has no intention of withdrawing its forces from Lebanon and has insisted that its conflict with Hezbollah is separate from the war on Iran.

The BBC are saying the US/Iran talks have only been postponed.

Maybe yes, maybe no.

If I had a feud with my next door neighbour, and I was lobbing stones over the garden fence, and was told to stop because of XYZ, I might.

But if my next door neighbour was now sitting in my garden, at my patio table, hitting the table with a hammer to wreck it, I might not want to stop lobbing stones.

Sometimes it is better to get the fuck out of dodge.

Forgot to say. I am originally lobbing stones at my neighbour over the garden fence because said neighbour has taken over and occupied 3 other houses on the street.

If you knew your neighbour was committed to killing you because they hated you but also because they were being paid to kill you - you would put a lot of money and effort into defending yourself.

And would also fight back to try to kill them before they got to you and your dependents.

Well Israel have been pretty committed to killing their neighbours too, and not just one set! I was startled when Trump actually managed to speak some truth the other day (yes shock horror), when he told Netanyahu “everybody hates you, we are the only friend you have”.

You’d think if you knew pretty much everyone hated you that you might want to reflect on what you were doing to deserve that….

I can only smile @MissyB1 that you are now taking Trump seriously ... why? ... because he agrees with you.

The US are not Israel's only ally. You know this really because you observe how the Western world uses words not actions to let Netanyahu know when they are unhappy with him.

Though I agree he should reflect on why most of the world thinks he goes too far with his response to Israel being attacked by Hamas and Hezbollah. I don't deny that the Israel response in both Gaza and Lebanon is disproportionate to the threat. Nevertheless it's typical Trump hyperbole and childishness to say, "everybody hates you".

I was shocked too. When he talked about knocking on peoples front doors rather than demolishing buildings.

And lets face it, if an idiot like Trump can eventually have a lucid moment and understand that simple concept, there is hope for all.

Indeed.

And that is why so many of us try to translate the gibberish he spouts rather than just making our own mind up about what he says in order to fit our own politics.

He is in charge of the whole thing.

I noticed. Not sure how many civilian and how many Hezbollah since usually not stated.
The Israeli spokesperson said 4 soldiers were killed last night by Hezbollah strikes.

Both sides continue with the conflict. People are dying, others are either in bomb shelters or away from their homes (both sides). The innocents in both sides are the ones that pay when the men continue to fight each other. It goes on and on. Awful.

The number of people killed has risen to 47, incl women and children

Benjamin Netanyahu praised the deadly strikes, which have killed at least 47 people, saying they were carried out "as I instructed".

I am not sure anyone in the real world is denying is a good deal for Iran. Perhaps Iran realise their upper hand at this moment and are therefore pushing for the fighting in Lebanon to stop.

I think all eyes are on Israel - not Hezbollah- to see that this happens? Was it not the IDF who first started bombing after U.S. calling for a ceasefire? It has to stop at some point.
