Conflict in the Middle East

Trump is desperate. How can he resolve the Iran shitshow?

1000 replies

TooBigForMyBoots · 06/04/2026 00:32

He is flailing, desperate and increasingly unhinged. Weakening the USA, alienating allies and strengthening the enemies of democracy with every step.

How can he fix this?
Can he fix it at all?

Agree. Trump can't ignore it. It has to be part of the conversation with Iran.

Absolutely. Their plight cannot be ignored by anyone.

We do look at the wider context of a thread when reviewing reports, including how a discussion is developing and whether posts are contributing to the topic or shifting into something more personal.

We also don’t make moderation decisions based on who may have started a disagreement. Our focus is on the posts themselves and whether they meet the Talk guidelines at the point they’re reviewed.

We appreciate that this can sometimes feel frustrating, particularly if you feel your intent has been misunderstood. If you’re ever unsure, reporting posts you’re concerned about is always the best way to flag them for us.

I felt this answer had clarity in setting out exactly how moderation works.

Unfortunately they will be if they are the "obstacle" to a deal that frees up Hormuz.

Creating yet another issue for people to fight over.

I can see the world going into a recession and famine happening in Africa and Asia too if this isnt stabilised. What needs to happen to bring peace and stabilise our lives from this?

Just coincidence that a US Judge just threw out Trumps $15 BILLION lawsuit against the NYT ?

Anyway, here be an example of POTUS trying yet again to silence the free press. He also had this a few days ago.

Cheers.

So when posters start to accuse other posters of supporting Iran/HAMAS/Hezbollah that is actually reportable. Because that is in the "shifting into something more personal" territory.

I won't be doing any reporting though. I am totally for open robust debate/discussion. And if your "opponent" resorts to ad hominem, then it can be a good indicator that they have ran out of salient points, or that their logic is flawed. I think for anyone reading the debate/ discussion, they need to see the full flow and see what debate techniques are being used.

I do report spam though. But that is to help HQ keep the place tidy.

I see Chinese state media has the story below displayed rather prominently. Not hidden away. This is the usual way the CPC "reminds" their opponents in any dispute of what cards they hold. Here they appear to be reminding Trump that his shitshow might just get a bit shittier.

I suspect Trump will be TRUTHING about Greenland again later, and how their potential rare earth deposits are a "must have" for US security.

Like you, I have only ever reported spam. What deletiongate has taught me is to look out for people who like having the last word, especially when their argument is weak.

I should be charging rent for how much space I occupy in some poster's minds.

To clarify, I did not accuse anyone of supporting Hamas or Hezbollah.

I was commenting on how strange I found it that people seemed to be expressing admiration for the LEGO propaganda of an Iranian regime that murders thousands of their own people for protesting and has a terrible reputation on human rights against women and gay people. This comment was robustly argued against by people pointing out that admiring the propaganda is not admiring the regime, which was a fair point. What wasn't fair was people deciding as a group to target me for ridicule. No it really wasn't necessary for several people to add a disclaimer on every post they made that they don't support the Iran regime. And it definitely wasn't necessary to start it on another thread too @RedTagAlan

My posts get reported & deleted too so it's hypocritical to pretend only I ever report people. But I do try to debate politely even when behaviour disgusts me and we all should or it scares people away and you end up with an echo chamber.

Poor Greenland. Africa has several countries with untapped rare earth minerals. Pity Trump has written them off as 'shithole' countries.

https://rareearthexchanges.com/africa-rare-earth-mining/

Yup. It's almost as if Trump does not understand how capitalism works. Free market economics and all that.

He was on about fertilizer the other day. About how he will stop the "price gouging. It's as if he does not understand what happens when 20% of the world supply is cut off.

Parts of Africa have already paid a heavy price for the minerals they have.
Greenland residents must be terrified, if it’s not Trump, it’ll be the next leader, possibly Russia or China.

I’m worried about the fertiliser shortage for food production.

I've reported in the distant past [different poster/same behaviour] and MNHQ deleted a whole load of their posts so they will indeed take action

I don't know about Russia wanting Greenland, but China has no interest in it at all. It's Antarctica they are eyeing.

The arctic sea route China are looking at is along the top of Russia. For China to Europe. They have no interest in the Canadian arctic route because there is no benefit at all. They just go straight across the pacific. And they have all the rare earths they need. They already control 70% of global extraction and 90% processing.

I think Trumps wants Greenland because.... he is Trump.

Now that would be interesting (extremely scary) Denmark sent troops to Greenland last time around, they genuinely believed Trump would attack and they were 100% prepared to fight.

Article 5 would (or should) ensure other NATO members come to their aid.

This would not be a situation where Starmer could sit on the fence.

Then there is Finland and Norway, where Russia does have strong interests.

Trump is enabling Russia like never before, surely its time to think that Trump could be acting for Putin not NATO, not the USA but Russia.

Norway is terrified of Russia and have been for decades. Russia was actually giving bicycles to illegal immigrants/asylum seekers, helping them to cross the border into Norway. Destabilising European countries is a Russian art form and from his actions, Trump is Putin's man.

China has a 'research station' in Antarctica but I think it will be difficult for them to do much there because the world sees that region as needing to be protected.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 14/04/2026 08:03

Makes sense. Trump is destabilising the world in preparation.
JD Vance comments on Trump’s jokey personality, haha it was just a joke, so not a picture of a doctor healing the sick. Pair of idiots.
JD will sit in mass on Sunday, quietly begging for forgiveness. 😂

From memory they have 5 now.

But I think it's the sea that interests them. Lots of fish, but it's the Krill they are really interested in. 1.4 billion people to feed, and there is billions of tons of protein swimming about down there. Protein that can be processed into animal feed.

They bought a couple of Norwegian Krill trawlers a couple of years back, and are now churning out .. ahem.. their own domestically developed versions.

logicisall · 14/04/2026 08:16

Again unintended consequences. Warm water areas are seeing the proliferation of expanding seaweed growth, affecting coastal areas as well as the seas themselves. Seaweed can be turned into fertiliser so instead of countries burying it, they should be thinking about setting up regional manufacturing hubs to process the stuff.

There is already a problem with Norwegian trawlers removing 1% of krill to make food for farmed salmon (keeps the flesh pink) and Krill oil. When I learned this I stopped buying both products.

China joining in will make things exponentially worse.😢

Ohh yes. It is going to get worse. Entire food chains might collapse.

I would not touch farmed salmon. The aquaculture in the sea is destroying wild fish. Sea lice.
