Hamas won't disarm - that is the barrier to peace

So Hamas probably will reject a peace plan that has been globally accepted including the PA as it refused to disarm. Hasan fighters would rather carry on basically a suicidal guerrilla campaign rather than lay down arms for a peace so many right minded people desperately want.

Don't Hamas realise they will lose Gaza and effectively their 'fighting' force will be groups of jihadis who engage in occasional small arms fire that in all likelihood result in their deaths? What sort of mind set does this group have where they are willing to prolong a vicious war with no thought to the people they are meant to stand for?

Hamas hope is grounded only in the West being weak and applying more pressure on Israel and conceding to the terrorist Hamas. If the West more fully backs Israel now then Hamas may lose that one deranged hope and possibly their doomed war may end.

Thanks God I am Christian and pro-Jewish

My personal belief is that there is no god or sky fairies of any description, the belief of such sky faries is exactly the reason the world has so many problems…but if the thought that there are gives you self belief in your life that might be a good thing for you.

But I also know that the tenets of Christianity are love, forgiveness and understanding, so I’m curious as to why you don’t extend those to your innocent Palestinian brothers and sisters (under bombardment and grave threat) too.

Lonelycrab · 03/10/2025 20:53

Wrt to the op,

Hamas won’t disarm. They are an evil death cult as has been said, holding the innocents in Gaza (vast majority) ransom

The unreasonable peace offering will fail, it was only ever a vague swipe at a Nobel by Trump but it also gives carte Blanche to BN, hence his smiles.

And Netanyahu will raze the ground to entirety in the coming weeks.

I do hope I’m wrong (am sure I’ll get attacked left right and centre for posting my thoughts anyway) but that’s my prediction.

If being Pro-Jewish means you agree with the utter horror that has been unfolding in Palestine then I doubt whatever you call your God will make much difference come judgement day.

Why are you conflating Jews with Israel?

So if someone is against the Gaza war, that means you must be against Jews too?

Do you realise how silly you sound?

EasternStandard · 03/10/2025 21:22

A response from Hamas.

Hamas tells Trump: We will release all hostages and negotiate

No that’s not what I said at all.

How many times has Netanyahu broken peace agreements already?

How many times has Netanyahu broken peace agreements already?

And how far can anyone trust Trump too.

GentleSheep · 03/10/2025 21:41

Apparently Hamas have accepted Trump's deal 'in part', so not an outright rejection

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdxq7zp7002o

That article contains this rather important comment:

However the statement makes no mention of one of the key demands of the plan – that Hamas agree to its disarmament and to playing no further role in the governance of Gaza.

I don’t know about ‘one of’ the key demands: seems like the key demand to me.

I suppose not mentioning the demand leaves it open for Hamas to agree to it in private, and publicly at some later point. But it doesn’t bode well. As I said, fanatical antisemitic death cults like Hamas don’t easily change course. They’re not inclined to stop killing, torturing and getting rich off drug running, extortion and stealing aid.

GentleSheep · 03/10/2025 21:59

I will still be surprised if the deal goes through.

I’m wondering if Hamas think it’s better to stall, say they agree but not do this crucial part. Atm the international leadership is saying agree.

Reward is an odd choice of word to use.
Palestine is recognised by other countries as being its own state.
Netanyahu knew that they would never agree to this clause which is probably why he included it. Add to that that Nethanyahu cannot be trusted so there is absolutely no point in Hamas agreeing to it.

The point is to prevent more death and destruction for Palestinians.

Osmosisfreight · 04/10/2025 04:34

PollyPaintsFlowers · 03/10/2025 15:06

Who cares?

The poor guy was kidnapped in Gaza by a jihadist death cult, Hamas isn't the only one operating in Gaza, and then murdered

What security will there be for international journalists if they were to go into Gaza?

I mean, Spanish diplomats don't want to move to the new Palestine embassy in Ramallah. They want to stay in Tel Aviv 😂

What security is there for the Palestinians in the West Bank when they are forcibly removed from their homes and land by settlers from Texas? I understand your criticism of Hamas, I think they should be gone, but I’ve seen various posts of yours across different threads and you seem to group all Palestinians with Hamas. You see no wrong with Israel’s government and seem to be hell bent on making out Israel are saints and have never done anything wrong. You have no compassion for the Palestinians, but expect everyone to have some for Israel

Osmosisfreight · 04/10/2025 04:45

Netanyahu and the orange maniac, know that Hamas probably wont agree to the terms! They don’t want them to, they wan’t to take all of Gaza, then they’ll start on the West Bank.

Hamas will sail off with their millions after subjecting their people to years of hell, with no repercussions, and who will suffer Israeli’s and Palestinians.

Hamas and Netenyahu ( and Trump tbh)are the same, evil, war mongering, narcissistic maniacs.

Looks like progress and has Israel's military campaign paid off? It looks sketchy but have Hamas agreed to an interim technocratic leadership i.e. political surender? It's the arms that are still a major sticking point as we want to see Hamas never able to world a weapon again.

is this hope for the end of the war?

Live updates: Trump tells Israel to stop bombing Gaza as Hamas agrees to release hostages

The US president says he believes Hamas is "ready for a lasting peace", as the group seeks further negotiations on his peace proposal.

It’s hope @mids2019

Both sides want peace or at least have agreed to it. Lots of details to iron out but here’s hoping for peace for both sides soon.

There is a reason that even the Arab states don’t come out in support of the situation. Hamas are radicalised lunatics and use the Palastinian population as human shields and bait.

Most Arab states recognise the mentality for what it is and choose accordingly

Much of the west, OTOH, either don't recognise it or prefer to pretend it's something else, and here we are

MrsSkylerWhite · 04/10/2025 11:19

HellsBalls · 03/10/2025 18:17

That’s the idea.
I think Hamas will call their bluff, and the fighting will continue.
After all, they are winning the propaganda war.
A bullet will be the only thing that alters their murderous beliefs.

I agree that the fighting will continue. Trump has a track record of making threats in capitals on SM then extending deadlines and/or backpedaling.

I agree that Hamas is an organisation of radicalised lunatics.
It’s the civilians caught up in the situation that my sympathies are with, the innocents amongst them. I imagine that’s the position of the majority of western nations supporting the people of Palestine
and wanting an end to the massacre.

Apparently Zahra Sultana ( she of Your Party) made a speech saying her aim was to ' fight for a secular, inclusive Palestinian state'. Breathtakingly naive and not a little bit ' Western colonialist' mindset. Maybe she should spend more time marching against the Islamists and Jihadists who have turned Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Iran from relatively secular open, free states with highly educated female populations into hellholes over the last 30-40 years.

Jordan? Friends travelled in Jordan quite recently, in an organised group to Petra and various other places. Didn’t sound like an “hellhole”?

You shouldn’t overlook the fact that the displaced Palestinian population has caused a LOT of trouble in Jordan.

Same!

I also (albeit a decade ago) sat eating waffles and ice cream for lunch during Ramadan, in a lovely cafe backing into their famous/most Holy mosque in Damascus.

Jordan was lovely. Yes like Syria it has it's problems but I found it a very pleasant place to visit.

Egypt felt far more conservative than either. I'd feel happy receiving to Jordan by myself as a white woman, but more cautious in Egypt.
