Footage shows public executions in Gaza City street

BBC Verify: Footage has emerged showing the public executions of three men accused of being Israeli collaborators in Gaza City.

BBC Verify has verified that the location of the executions was a street outside Shifa hospital in the centre of the city, which is the focus of a major Israeli ground offensive.

Videos circulating on Sunday evening showed at least five armed and masked men, three blindfolded Palestinian men kneeling on the ground and a large crowd.

One of the armed men is heard saying: "The death sentence has been decided for all collaborators".

There are cheers before the three men are pushed to the ground and shot several times in the back of the head. The crowd then praises Hamas's armed wing, the Qassam Brigades.

A Palestinian security official from the Hamas-run Gaza government told Reuters that the executions were carried out by the "Joint Operations Room of the Palestinian resistance".

This is a rare instance in which a public execution in Gaza has been captured on video. There have been previous reports of Hamas using violence on those who dissent. In May, Hamas-led groups reportedly executed four Palestinians for looting aid trucks.

Well mumsnet has been awash with Israeli bots for a couple of years.

Am I an Israeli bot?

😈

“Awash with Israeli bots”?
There’s thread upon thread on any type of wrongdoing on the Israeli side (without mentioning the role of Hamas very much) and there is what seems like a handful of posters who express sympathy for the Israelis and who seem to see the conflict as more complex than just black and white, good vs bad.
Where are you seeing all the “Israeli bots”?

Shows the level of paranoia.

Strange how the obsession with bots is much more prevalent on the pro Palestinian side when they are the much bigger group. Plus unlike the Israel supporters, some of them literally post the same information over & over again robotically across multiple threads with scant regard for the actual discussion.

If I was a Gazan civilian I'd make sure I was seen to support Hamas.

Although broadly I feel my stance is pro Israel, I can sympathize with Gazan civilians to a certain extent. They've been bought up in a radicalized society, told since birth they are victims of Israel, and violence is seen as an absolutely legitimate form of resistance. I think in this atmosphere a significant proportion of any society would act this way. I think its human.
The huge problem I think is when the violent extremists are in charge. Of education, employment, the military etc. The problem is one of leadership.

In a nutshell, thats why I think Hamas has to go. There's no future for a Palestinian state with them in power. Only more radical violence.

People on here constantly posting, saying they don't support Hamas, but then in same breath saying 'Its resistance, it didn't start on 7 October, Israel are the colonizers, we can't expect Hamas to behave with any humanity' etc I've heard people say literally things taken straight from the poster Hamas made of BN as a vampire- I despair sometimes. But overall I believe Gazan civilians are more victims of Hamas than Israel.

If I was a Gazan citizen I would pretend to support Hamas.

Not to the extent of cheering and chanting at public executions or hostage releases, but I can definitely understand the self preservation in not openly defying Hamas or speaking against them.

Plus many Gazans will be radicalised so it’s nuanced as their attitudes not exactly their fault. I find it harder to be sympathetic towards the ones who genuinely support Hamas because they have been radicalised. Not such a nice person as you probably.

And the ordinary 'civilians' cheering them on?

I also remember the hostage release ceremonies with Palestinian civilians taking their kids as if it was a day out. Even when the hostages were going home in coffins. And when they encouraged their kids to deface the pictures of the Bibas brothers after their coffins had been taken away. It feels like their whole society is sick to its very core

Works both ways though Polly. Rachel Weiss took a load of settlers out on a boat to see the destruction being wrought in Gaza, and to show them where they will live once the Palestinians had been ethnically cleansed. That’s not very nice, is it?

@TakeMe2Insanity

I'm also not a bot. I felt sympathetic towards Israel after I watched the dreadful October 7th videos, when I saw ordinary Palestinian people cheered the slaughter. It was revolting.

I have wanted release of hostages, hamas to go and a 2 state solution throughout. I do think war crimes have been committed and individuals should be tried correctly but I understand its not black and white Palestinian good Israel bad.

Lmao. I've just read your posts now. Your accusations that I have 'Inside information', your concern that Hamas are on mumsnet? Are you actually insinuating that I'm a member of Hamas? I have a rotten cold right now but the thought of you sitting around all concerned that you are communicating with Hamas on mumsnet has really made me laugh. I have a roll of tinfoil in the kitchen you can borrow if you want to make yourself a hat Wink

It's more likely to be aluminium, tin is a bit toxic, but then again...

Palestinians again showing the world who they are, yet it's dismissed with whataboutery and excuses. Is it because the hatred of Jews is just so strong? Is it an inconvenience that gets in the way of painting Palestinians as a bunch of innocents at the mercy of the big bad Jews? Or is it the racism of low expectations? Are Arabs not expected to behave any better than this so their 'supporters' turn a blind eye?

I also wonder if you saw the video which was actually posted on an Israeli TV station before being removed.

It’s the latest video to have caused outrage online, showing children singing about the "annihilation" of Gaza and its people. The video was even posted and then removed by Kan, an Israeli state-owned news channel.
It’s a three-minute video that has been shared thousands of times on social media. Most of the comments expressed outrage that a group of Israeli children appear to be glorifying the destruction of Gaza.

Looks like the hatred comes from both sides.

I heard Israel was using a cruel & unusual punishment against her - ABBA songs played very loudly on repeat.

Of course hatred comes on both sides.

They've been killing each other for years.

You wouldn't be suggesting Israelis stay miraculously free of hatred while excusing Palestinian hatred as a natural consequence of what they've suffered would you?

Because theres a term for that kind of exceptionalism...
