Footage shows public executions in Gaza City street

BBC Verify: Footage has emerged showing the public executions of three men accused of being Israeli collaborators in Gaza City.

BBC Verify has verified that the location of the executions was a street outside Shifa hospital in the centre of the city, which is the focus of a major Israeli ground offensive.

Videos circulating on Sunday evening showed at least five armed and masked men, three blindfolded Palestinian men kneeling on the ground and a large crowd.

One of the armed men is heard saying: "The death sentence has been decided for all collaborators".

There are cheers before the three men are pushed to the ground and shot several times in the back of the head. The crowd then praises Hamas's armed wing, the Qassam Brigades.

A Palestinian security official from the Hamas-run Gaza government told Reuters that the executions were carried out by the "Joint Operations Room of the Palestinian resistance".

This is a rare instance in which a public execution in Gaza has been captured on video. There have been previous reports of Hamas using violence on those who dissent. In May, Hamas-led groups reportedly executed four Palestinians for looting aid trucks.

@PaxAeterna Lamenting the death of children is a no-brainer. "Condemning" their deaths is something else when the finger of blame is pointed firmly in Israel's direction. Or am I wrong? Is your protest today anti-Hamas?

Well yes it is pointing firmly at the Israeli authorities. Everyone should be held to account for what they have done.

My protest today has nothing to do with Gaza at all.

Exactly. Not one child will have been fed by everyone piling in to a discussion board to declare how much they care. Its performative nonsense.

Exactly.

I hope you all sleep well tonight thinking about the starving, homeless, bombed people of Gaza. God bless.

A converse event to the OP, reported in the Times of Israel, is that the IDF have destroyed the homes of, and killed 36 from, two family clans who refused to collaborate with Israel.

From The Times of Israel today:
Israel recently approached two large Gaza City clans about forming anti-Hamas enclaves in the city, and, after being turned down, bombed homes that belong to them, according to a report in the Saudi daily Asharq Al-Awsat on Sunday.

The outlet said the Shin Bet approached representatives of the Durmush and Bakr families, both of which have remained in Gaza City, about implementing a plan to divide the city into zones controlled by armed groups supported by Israel.

According to the report, which cited security sources and contacts on the ground in Gaza, the Durmush and Bakr families rejected the offer, which would have required them to fight Hamas and pass intelligence to Israel.

The proposed scheme appeared to be similar to a model implemented with armed groups carving out anti-Hamas enclaves in Gaza’s south that claim support from Israel.
A member of the Bakr family, who asked not to be named, confirmed the details to the paper.

According to the sources cited by Asharaq Al-Awsat, the families rejected the offer on Friday. On Saturday, Israel struck several houses belonging to members of the families in Gaza City, killing about 36 people, the report said.

So basically these clans don't want Hamas to be defeated?

No they are just unwilling to collaborate with the people that have been committing genocide against their people. They don't want to be complicit in the genocide of their people. And as punishment their homes were destroyed.

Do what we say or will destroy your home isn't exactly the mark of a civilised country is it?

How do you actually know they don't support Hamas though.

Civilised? Countries throughout the middle east who consider themselves civilised operate like that. In your view, which country epitomises civilisation. China's had a sophisticated 'civilisation' for many thousands of years.

Sounds a bit...racist.

I don't care what their politics are - you don't just go on blowing up people's houses.

You can't honestly expect people to co-operate with the people that have been dropping bombs in their family.

Everyone likes to think of itself as a civilised democracy, lots of people on here say that's what makes it unique within the Middle East.

And I'm not sure you're right anyway, what other countries say ' I'm I know we're killing your family, and committing genocide. But you must work with us or will blow up your house'.

If you've got any examples the of this that you'd like to give a link to, I will absolutely read it. But from what I can see it's more Israeli bully tactics.

Yes.

Not only their homes were destroyed but 36 of the people in them - randomly.

Imagine a country bombing the U.K. then trying to set up a spy network here among some people they think might be good contenders then, if they refused, destroying their houses and whoever was inside them

Basically these people don’t see themselves as collaborators with those who have killed thousands upon thousands of their people, including women and children, and were their oppressors and stealers of their land even before Hamas started this war.

Or, as this thread is about how Palestinians who collaborate with the Israeli army may be brutally executed in the street by Hamas, maybe they were too scared to collaborate with the Israelis.

It would seem, however, from this IDF punishment for non-collaboration with them, that execution in the street by Hamas for the clan leaders, (had they collaborated with Israel) might have been a better choice for them than refusing to collaborate with Israel.

It was the latter that lead to the most brutal devastation for them and their families.

So on one hand Israel are committing genocide of Palestinians but on the other they are trying to collaborate with Palestinians to create anti-Hamas enclaves to try to end the war?

Which is it?

Is there evidence the IDF bombed them because these clans refused to cooperate?

Just wondering which country you think is the most civilised. The most stable countries in the middle east seem somewhat restrictive and often brutal compared to my experience, but I would hesitate to deny their claim to civilisation.

They also don't see themselves as against Hamas either.

You know, the ones who brought war on them and their people, and are the reason for the civilian deaths and devastation in this conflict, as well as 18 years of terror murdering and torturing their own people and starting wars with Israel, while stealing aid making their leaders billionaires while ordinary Palestinians live in poverty.

I thought the pro Pal line was that Palestinians were too afraid to go against Hamas and that's why they've held onto power as government of Gaza for 18 years, but here we have Palestinians being offered the equipment and backing of Israel to defeat them but no dice.

Interesting..........
