It’s the same with every war.

The German people for example were heavily punished financially for starting a war & losing it (twice).

Maybe the majority of their civilians didn’t deserve it either but they all got punished for having a mad government that kept attacking other countries.

And noone is arguing for 'abuse and subjugation' for Palestinians anyway. What a load of nonsense. Maybe Hamas should accept the deal and hand over the hostsges who actually have been suffering abuse and subjugation.

I thought the point of the Marshall plan after WW11, in which enemies Germany and Italy were included, was to help do the opposite.

This was to avoid the disastrous effects caused by punitive measures taken against Germany after WW1 which were partly responsible for the conditions in Germany leading to the disaster of WW11.

World War II reparations

The Allies finally agreed for German reparations to be paid in the following forms:

  • Dismantling of the German industry
  • Transferring all manufacturing equipment, machinery and machine tools to the Allies
  • Transferring all railroad cars, locomotives and ships to the Allies
  • Confiscation of all German investments abroad
  • All gold, silver and platinum in bullion or coin form held by any person/institution in Germany
  • All foreign currency
  • All patents and research data relevant to military application and processes
  • Requisition of current German industrial production and resource extraction
  • Forced labour provided by the German population

Occupation costs
After World War II ended, the main four Allied powers – Great Britain, The United States, France, and the Soviet Union – jointly occupied Germany, with the Allied occupation officially ending in the 1950s. During this time, Germany was held accountable for the Allied occupation's expenses, amounting to over several billion dollars.

Holocaust victims
Germany concluded a variety of treaties with Western and Eastern countries as well as the Jewish Claims Conference and the World Jewish Congress to compensate the victims of the Holocaust. Until 2005 about 63 billion euros (equivalent to approximately 87.9 billion euros in 2022) have been paid to individuals. Additional payments by German companies which exploited forced workers have been made.

This is gross. We have all seen what Palestinians have been put through, how they have been suffering, millions of them, for a very long time. Denials like this does no one any favours. People can look at starving children, children using pipes as limbs, people being burned out of their homes and say that they are not 'actually suffering' because they don't believe Palestinians are equal to Israelis. If they did they would recognise that the soldiers being held hostage have suffered and millions of other innocent people have too.

80 years ago it was fine to punish innocent civillians so it's fine to punish Palestinians? What else from 80 years ago is fine, let's roll back women rights, no mortgages or bank accounts, no bodily autonomy, no such thing as marital rape. Or is it just Palestinians you think it's OK to treat like we treated innocent people 80 years ago? Screw progression, who needs human rights anyway(apart from Israelis of course)?

Fascinating how telling me to ‘give it a rest’ is fine, but pointing out the hypocrisy of that earns smarmy little jokes. All while this thread is about 1+ children being killed every hour. Classy.

“Maybe the majority of their civilians didn’t deserve it either but they all got punished for having a mad government that kept attacking other countries.”

But this from The Marshall Plan Foundation suggests a different principle was at work:

Germany - A Special Case

"To talk about the recovery of Europe and to oppose the recovery of Germany is nonsense. People can have both or they can have neither." (George F. Kennan)

As we have indicated, that Germany was a Marshall Plan recipient in the first place did not make the other participating countries very happy, but taking economic revenge was simply not a viable alternative. In fact, Germany had already received a large amount of U.S. aid before the Marshall Plan was even conceived: starting almost immediately after the war.

That is just an excerpt from:
https://www.marshallfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Marshall_Plan_1947-1997_A_German_View.pdf

I can’t quite see Gaza as having had comparable power to Germany 1939 -1945 in any case.

Well you clearly didn't understand it because noone was arguing for the 'abuse and subjugation' of Palestinians nor did anyone say Palestinians either haven't or aren't suffering. So I really don't know what ykur purpose is except the usual twist to claim that people are dismissing Palestinian suffering.

Yes 😂

Still waiting for mine but I’m sure it’s in the post.

Much like the Hamas copy of the peace plan that everyone seemed to receive before them.

Gloriia · 01/10/2025 18:21

'The CITME board didn’t exist at the time'

Whaat?!

But where did all the posters debate all the other conflicts in the Middle East before the citme board was started?

Where did they discuss their boycotts and list the civilians sadly killed? Where did they talk about alleged genocide and alleged famines? There is a thread with all the names of those killed in Syria and Yemen isn't there?

Sadly, it seems only a conflict that involves Israel enrages some posters 🤔.

You're in good company. Most of the general public around the world have shifted their opinion due to a combination of the excessive justification aka "explanation" of what the Israeli government is carrying out. The name calling, mockery and unfounded accusations.

Ironically that behaviour has had the opposite effect as intended.

Yes it is true hamas has had a good pr thing going on and many have lapped it up. All quiet on that front since their pr chief was zapped we've had no recent allegations of dc being shot who then appear on chat shows 2 weeks later and the famine allegations seem to have fizzled out.

Got to hand it to some of the UN folk, walking out on BN but seal clapping the Syrian president, a former Al queeda terrorist. Sums the dodgy UN organisation up doesn't it.

NYT poll from late September 2025 shows that Forty percent of US voters think Israel is intentionally killing civilians in Gaza.

When asked if Israel was taking enough precautions to avoid civilian casualties, 62 percent said they were not, with just 25 percent saying Israel was taking enough precautions.

More than half of registered US voters disapprove of Israel’s war, and 59 percent said they believe that Israel should stop its "military campaign" even if Hamas has not been fully "eliminated". Only 27 percent said the campaign should continue.

When asked if Israel's campaign should stop even "if not all Israeli hostages have been released", 58 percent agreed, with 30 percent saying they should continue.

The best part which indicates where the future is heading: The majority of voters under the age of 30, regardless of political party, are also now less likely to back support for Israel. Nearly 70% of them said they opposed economic or military aid flowing from the US to Israel.

Keep it up! It's working wonderfully 😅🫣😉

Israel has killed one child every hour
Uggbootsforever · 01/10/2025 19:06

Soontobe60 · 10/09/2025 20:17

38 Israeli children were killed by Hamas on 7/10. The attacks began at around 6.30am so those children were murdered over around a 12 hour period - that’s around 3 children an hour.
Do those children not matter because they were Jewish?

Quite.

Jewish lives are so cheap, and they’re relentlessly expected to overlook their slaughter ‘to keep the peace’.

I HATE what is happening in Gaza, follow Al Jazeera and force myself to watch the shocking and horrifying videos and photos of small injured children because I think it’s my moral duty not to hide from it.

But equally the left’s absolute failure to acknowledge Oct 7, apart from saying ‘it didn’t start there…’ and to treat slaughtered Jewish families as nothing more than an inconvenience, is contemptible.

Dont worry. As those respondents get older and start to think about things a bit more deeply, question themselves and their assumptions, learn to see the world in less black and white terms- a good few of them will become a bit more sympathetic to Israel's situation. Tale as old as time.

A pp had decided that most of the general public around the world have shifted their opinion', so I said yes hamas pr had convinced many people who had lapped up the propaganda. So I was talking about 'something someone said'.

When you say 'the old Gloriia special' it suggests you are mocking which I know will not be your intent.

Regarding my previous comment is there a thread listing the names of the dc killed in the Yemen conflict do you know? If not I wonder why.

You didn’t actually respond to the point, you reframed it into something else entirely.

And dragging in Yemen doesn’t erase what’s happening in Gaza.
