A mild, late, spineless stand. But a stand. It makes me wonder how much longer this can go on before governments realise people are fed up of this.

Jesus Christ. That’s horrifying. Absolutely horrifying. There is no defence of this

There will be.
Or it will be ignored.

Another thread with regurgitated 'facts'. Groundhog day. @Twiglets - catch you later x

Must be so irritating having actual facts interrupt your dissonance.

Wedonttalkaboutboris · 18/08/2025 11:09

Twiglets1 · 18/08/2025 10:53

Yes - it’s turning into Groundhog Day again with people saying the same things that have already been debated. And answering posts with comments that are nothing to do with the points raised… so boring & tedious.

3,2,1… are you saying Palestinians dying is boring!

Not at all- watching nearly 2 million civilians be starved and 18,000+ children killed is horrifying. It’s your dismissal of the facts as “boring” that’s tedious.

They’re only facts if they come directly from Israel. Otherwise, every single news source is unreliable

Like my question is being ignored about what would be the point in the hostages getting released if Netanyahu allowed Hamas to remain in Gaza just to take more hostages in future?

@LifeOfAShowGirl has skipped on answering that one, but others are welcome to try.

Not to mention that Hamas staying in Gaza would be horrific for the lives of Palestinians. Maybe now IS the time to get them out and it’s a reasonable ceasefire request?

So you admit it? He’s using the hostages as a political pawn to justify what he’s doing in Gaza. There is absolutely no reason why he couldn’t negotiate for the release of the hostages.

I’m not trying to compare suffering or score points. I’m using the Ukraine figure purely to give context for the scale of child deaths in Gaza- it’s about illustrating how extreme this crisis is, not about minimising other conflicts.

I’m certainly not the one being crass here.

No one would compare the Ukrainian child death toll with Gazan child death toll unless they were trying to be extremely disingenuous and deceptive.

  1. Ukraine does not have an extremist Islamic terrorist group with a martyr culture as it’s government and therefore Ukraine does not operate a policy of civilian human sacrifice for the ‘cause’, where civilians are deliberately put in harms way so they are killed before the terrorists.
  2. Ukraine did not booby trap thousands of homes and buildings and does not fire rockets from heavily populated civilian areas hoping for the best. Both of these practices may have had a profound effect on the child death rate in Gaza.
  3. Two million children were able to evacuate from Ukraine.
  4. The Ukrainian government doesn’t steal aid so it can starve its civilians to blame Russia for their deaths. Russia certainly wouldn’t have facilitated aid to Ukraine anyway!

So a ridiculous comparison IMO.

So you believe all of that- the presence of Hamas, tunnels, booby-trapped buildings, or rockets fired from civilian areas- somehow justifies the killing of approximately 30% of Palestinian children? That’s nearly one in three children in Gaza, starved, bombed, and deprived of medical care, despite most having no connection to any fighting.

Ridiculous.

I will admit that it is pretty mindblowing to me that a centuries old, totally irrational, hatred of Jewish people and therefore a Jewish State, can turn so many seemingly normal people to supporting a barbaric, evil, terrorist regime, who actually want the people these organisations supposedly support, to die!

Support anything as long as it’s against the Jews.

My outrage isn’t about religion or nationality. It’s about crimes. Any group systematically starving civilians, bombing hospitals, or killing children would be condemned. This isn’t “anti-Jewish” or “anti-anyone,” it’s anti-war-crime, anti-genocide, anti-child-murder.

You have clearly misunderstood, hopefully deliberately.

Do you think booby trapped buildings and rockets being fired from civilian areas (many not reaching their target or landing unexploded) might have a slight impact on the civilian death rate?

If you seriously think the death toll in Gaza is purely from IDF operations, you are deluded I’m afraid.

Wedonttalkaboutboris · 18/08/2025 11:37

It’s surreal that instead of acknowledging the starvation, bombings, and deliberate targeting of children, the reaction is just “people don’t like Jews”. Literally ignoring the war crimes.

Tunnels and rockets don’t justify starving, bombing, and killing nearly a third of Gaza’s children. Deliberate disproportionate attacks on civilians remain war crimes, no matter what Hamas does.

How have 30% of children in Gaza been killed, that would mean a death toll of 300,000 children?

Why are you spreading misinformation?

Wedonttalkaboutboris · 18/08/2025 11:44

And no matter how it’s framed, Hamas isn’t responsible for the man-made famine or the equivalent of 4 Hiroshima bombs being dropped on Gaza, an area only slightly larger than Malta.

Do you seriously not get it?

How many deaths and injuries of PALESTINIAN CIVILIANS do you think have occurred from misfired rockets when terrorists film themselves sitting in tents in refugee camps merrily popping them off with no care for where they fall.

How many deaths and injuries of PALESTINIAN CIVILIANS from booby trapped buildings, IEDs and mines planted to kill IDF soldiers?

In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if that accounts for the high amputated rate.

What am I justifying?

That should say, 37.7% of the children killed among the total reported deaths in Gaza during this conflict, not 37.7% of all children in Gaza overall.

To be fair- it seems that’s what they’re aiming for ultimately anyway.

Edited

Yes, civilians do get hurt by Hamas’ tactics- but no, that doesn’t justify deliberately starving, bombing, and blocking essential aid to nearly 2 million people, including hundreds of thousands of children. The man-made famine, destroyed hospitals, schools, and ambulances, and the sheer scale of civilian casualties in Gaza are entirely disproportionate and can’t be explained away by misfired rockets or booby traps- no matter how much you’d like it to be.
