To think UN should now be in Gaza as a peacekeeping force

Seriously, when even the Daily Express are even calling mass forced starvation and putting pictures like this on their front pages.

Surely the UN could act as a peacekeeping force and stop this insanity?

Its obscene.

To think UN should now be in Gaza as a peacekeeping force

The problem is that the ceasefire talks have stalled so what is the solution?

I hope Hamas are sense and make a deal that allows a ceasefire so both sides can move forward. I don't think they will surrender though even though they presumably have lost support of their people.

Inspirations to see Egypt opens its borders to allow voluntary movement away from the war zone into safety and indeed there are walled areas in the Sinai for this. Egypt has resisted pressure for now but surely people should be looking to allow migration of Palestinians to areas of the world where they can find food and shelter and not be under the thrall of an Islamist terrorist group.

This can't go on for ever but what other solution do people see if this goes on through summer?

And what if they don't want to leave? What should happen to them?

They must be. But Israeli government doesn't seem to care. Their families must be in despair.

Agree. I think the families have realized that also as many are protesting .

Theres a reasonable point here, why doesn’t Egypt send aid from it’s side of the border if it truly believes that there is a famine. It’s an independent country. Ofcourse they have a right to protect their border but they could if they wanted to send aid.

But a majority of Gaza has already been destroyed. This BBC article is about how the IDF is continuing to level buildings in Gaza and has started to clear them.

I agree that they have been disgusting in their disregard for Palestinian people but I believe it’s through disregard rather than intention.

After Oct if they would have wiped the country from the map what do you think would have happened? People would have been vocal on social media but no country would have risked nuclear war to retaliate. If that was the intention they would have done it swiftly, longed out visible Palestinian suffering is detrimental to their cause

Flumpflimpo · 23/07/2025 23:20

Just reading this thread stressed me out.

Its the same shit in every war.

Its their fault, no its their fault.
They started it, no they started it
They did this to us,
no but they did this to us first.

I was just reading a book about the northern ireland conflict, and it was the exact same attitude between the two sides (on a smaller scale)

Wedonttalkaboutboris · 23/07/2025 23:20

“If Israel really wanted to destroy Gaza, it would have been done already” wow what a misleading oversimplification.

Gaza has been systematically devastated over months. Entire towns like Khuza’a have been razed- satellite images from Amnesty International show it was flattened with no active fighting nearby, which suggests deliberate destruction.

Places like Khan Younis and Umm al-Nasser have also been almost completely destroyed, according to multiple credible reports from The Guardian, Haaretz, and UN satellite data.

On top of that, there’s a severe humanitarian crisis because aid (including BABY FORMULA, food, water, and medical supplies) has been blocked for months. The WHO warns Gaza is facing man-made starvation, with hundreds dying from lack of basic needs and tens of thousands predicted to die.

So saying “it would have been done already” misses the point. The destruction and suffering are already massive, and the strategy seems to be long-term attrition- slowly wearing down the population with bombing, blockade, and denial of essentials. It’s not about some quick blitz!

ssd · 23/07/2025 23:22

User37482 · 23/07/2025 23:16

They aren’t, theres shot ton of aid just sitting in Gaza, as I said you don’t get fat people in a famine unless someone has the aid.

Do you remember that incident where Gazans broke into a UNWRA warehouse. hamas were literally standing on piles of flour shooting at Gazans. There was so much food. it was not distributed.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=aBQ40ew8i34

Do you have any actual credible evidence of that, rather than something from you tube?

True, there have been multiple peace processes, hopefully by the time the next one comes around people will be motivated to just sort it out and then they can both build a big fuck off wall and have nothing to do with each other ever again.

Flumpflimpo · 23/07/2025 23:22

There are too many immature war crazy male leaders around, who think that you can just keep bombing people indefinitely. They like the power trip.

Mature leaders would sit down for peace talks

Thats Palestinians breaking into a warehouse because they know who has the food. It’s a news report from the AP. You can see with your own eyes people carrying off the aid they are bloody well entitled to.

Egypt gets over 1.3 billion in aid from USA every year. It is the 4th biggest recipient. Egypt has a huge debt problem at the moment so won't piss the US off.

Well it did work in northern ireland.

They still have the peace wall there to this day.

What cause? Israel know they can do anything that they want. They seem to be relishing this war. Embarrassing for them that they can't seem to find Hamas in the tiny bit of Gaza that's left.

Oh I don't know. Each side in northern Ireland seemed to give as good as they got. And if course that was stopped by dialogue, nit by weapons.
But with Israel and Gaza , its clear both sides aren't giving as good as they got. Israel is a super power who can, and are, raising gaza to the ground. Gaza is being wiped out and isn't capable of fighting back. Israel has made sure of that for years.

Very little in history compares to this uneven genocide.

Israel dont want to find Hamas nor do they want all their hostages back otherwise they'd have nothing left to blame the genocide on

Mine it, dig it nice and deep and just do everyone a favour and leave each other alone. Palestinians should be free to live in whatever kind of society they wish for themselves, to trade and travel as they wish and the Israelis should be able to live without terror attacks. Both need to be able to live in peace and safety. All this “the jews need to go back to europe” shite and the “don’t reward Palestinians with a state” nonsense isn’t going to get anyone anywhere. Neither group is leaving and neither should either.

It’s a miserable mess. It makes me feel miserable too.

You’ve missed my point, I’m not arguing that Gaza has not been greatly destroyed but I’m arguing that this was not the overall intention of Israel.

Isreal was at the the height of its support after the initial attack. Why would they slowly kill all the Palestinians? Do you think that’s logical in a time of social media and independent reporting. Israel lose support the longer this goes on.

How can satellite images determine the cause of bombing? You cannot assume the bombing was due to direct combat, especially with the tunnels.

There has to be some perspective people that we are everyday people on the internet and not war officials trained in strategy with intimate knowledge of Gaza and it’s tunnel system and form for civilian assistance.

GentleSheep · 23/07/2025 23:31

Many of these images are not from Gaza or even from this time in history. Some are AI. Be careful of drawing conclusions from what you are told you are seeing.

Yes i agree. But the big male egos won't stop fighting.

I cant think what would get israel to stop.

What they are doing is not hurting them in anyway. And no outside country is intervening

A “big fuck off wall” might seem like a quick fix, but look at the West Bank barrier: it hasn’t solved anything, just made life harder and deepened divisions. Walls don’t fix conflict; they trap people in cycles of fear and resentment.

Real peace needs justice and rights.

Let’s start with the basic human rights- food, water and safety for civilians!

When you're presented with the fact that tens of thousands of children have been killed, starved, bombed, or shot at aid points and your first reaction is "but Hamas" or "well, 7/10..." something has gone deeply wrong morally.

Yes, Hamas is corrupt. But they’re not the ones blocking baby formula, bombing convoys, or starving 2 million people. Israel controls the borders. Israel is the one withholding aid.
